If you have followed me for a long time you know how much I love the Oscar's. It is a family tradition that our father started when I was very young. Since he ran the Atlantic Theater back in Chicago until my late teens this night was always important to him. It would also be pizza night and that tradition hasn't stopped either!
You can see the nominations here and you can also print out a ballot here. At first I thought I might be in Florida to watch them with my dad which would have been awesome but I won't be leaving until next Saturday. He will of course be watching them.
I hope that the stars accept their awards with grace and dignity leaving out all of their political views. They are entitled to their views but this is not the platform for that. I see movies because they entertain me and I love the actor's performances in their roles. Actually they lose me as a fan when they view their political opinions in their acceptance speeches!
If you are watching tonight.....enjoy!!!

You know it is a tradition here too. Going to look at the red carpet and the dresses. If the politics start up I will turn it off - as it will ruin the whole thing and not the purpose or platform like you said to do it. Can we just have an escape and watch it? lol sandie
I hope you (and your Dad) both have a grand time watching and that politics can be left out of the speeches. Look forward to your thoughts later on in the week!
Enjoy tonight, Debby! I agree, I hope the politics stays out of it as well.
Please do an after the Oscar post and share your thoughts.
Love, Carla
Hope it was a great night for you all! We were so busy with this and that I didn't get to see anything of it, but hope for a recap either from you here on your blog or the local news. I like how its become a tradition for your family over the years!
betty
your wish did not come true to keep out the politics. I did not watch but I did watch GMA this morning and saw all the political things that were said. hope you enjoyed them
I've never been a fan of any of the awards shows. I can say that I think it's just wrong of them to express political views in their speeches.
