WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Volume 297
Thank you Joyce :)

1. What do/did you call your grandparents? If it's something unusual tell us the story behind the name. If you're a grandparent what do your grands call you? Who chose your moniker?

My grandparent's on both sides were called grandma and grandpa. My great grandparents would have been called Babi and Dede which was Bohemian which I guess is Czech Republic now. (babička a dědeček)

2. Ever taken a road trip along the California Coast? If so what was the highlight of your trek? If not, any desire to do so? If you were to take a trip along the California Coast what's one attraction you'd have on your must-see list?

Actually we haven't taken trips along the coast but we have been to portions of the California Coast. I would recommend San Diego, Lo Jolla, Carlsbad, Santa Monica, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz.

3. What are three things you don't know how to do?

I can't change the oil on the car, I can't install a ceiling fan and I can't repair our appliances. These just came to mind. I can't line dance or square dance! This list could go on and on.....

4. Tom Peters is quoted as saying, 'Celebrate what you want to see more of.' If that's true what will you celebrate and more importantly, how will you celebrate?

Sounds like a road trip celebration to me! I want to see dozens of places around the United States!

5. Thursday (February 16) is National Almond Day. Do you like almonds? Which would you prefer-an Almond Joy or a macaron? What's something you make that calls for almonds?

Yes I like almonds, I always make a bowl of mixed raw nuts that sits on our counter. ( Almonds, Pecans and Walnuts. I sometimes use Hazelnuts, Cashews and Macadamia nuts too)

I would prefer a macaroon.

6. What does Saturday morning look like at your house?

Mark reads the paper and has his coffee. Then he takes Skye for a walk. For me it is similar to other days however I usually do projects around the house on Saturday.

7. Share with us a favorite book you've read this winter.

I haven't read any, I know it is terrible but most of my readings are on blogs each day and yes that has to change!!!

However I have bought way too many books for my Kindle application that is on my phone/computer. I often buy them from Goodreads for 99 cents or from my friend on Facebook who has free Christian books each day!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

my can't do list matches everything on your list. and like you the list is much longer. I can't bake anything at all and make it edible. unless it is cut them from a tube baking and then I brown the bottoms to much.
our Saturday is only different in that we do the floors on Saturday at 5 am together. Friday is different because I clean both bathrooms. other than that our days are all the same

Me and my sister want to do a road trip through England, but realised we already wanted to see more than we have time for in three weeks! So, we will split it up and do two trips. We love road trips!!

I like your random thought :) The California coast indeed is a great place to visit. We've seen quite a few of it south to north, never a disappointment. I've read a lot this past year; a lot of angst type of books; maybe to escape what is going on in "real life."

I can't dance at all!!!! Wish I could!

I always wanted to learn how to line dance, but I have two left feet...
I hope things are going well with your dad. He's still on my prayer list.
That's an interesting random thought, Debby:)
Enjoy your day,
Kathy (Reflections)

My girls and I LOVE that saying on your random thought. We are all like that. And proud of it. LOL I can take or leave almonds but I like an Almond Joy! :) How's your dad coming along? Have a wonderful Wednesday!

OMG, Debby ... that's the BEST 'random' I've seen in ages!
I started to play this week, then ran out of steam. I agree, there are so many "I can't"s!
Off the top of my head, I can't make Saran Wrap do what it's supposed to do (v. wrapping itself around my fingers) ... I can't pronounce 'rural' ... and I sure CAN'T dance.

BEST RANDOM THOUGHT EVER!!!!!!!! I am back! 18 days in the hospital, a month of recoup....I am glad to be functioning again.

Geez, none of those things even occurred to me and no, I can't do any of those three either. However, I did used to line dance and square dance back in the days. You sound like me. I have way too many books on my kindle that I probably will never read. And they all sound so good at the time. The road trip celebration sounds good.

I can't do any of those three things either. There are loads of things I can't do ... and many that I can do. That chocolate dipped macaroon looks scrumptious. Dark chocolate, so ... healthy, right?

I always called mine grandma and grandpa - so did my kids - and my grand-kids. We didn't use others names like they do now. I have taken a trip down the coast of California - years ago - I still can remember how beautiful it was. I don't know much about cars either. I love that saying about girls at the bottom - so cute. Love, sandie

I would love to return to San Diego. It is such a pretty place and a great destination for those who want to escape Wisconsin in the winter! There are far too many things I don't know how to do. And I certainly don't know how to fix my appliances! Have a great evening!

That macaroon looks delish. I like raw pecans, cashews, walnuts and almonds. I thought I'd miss the salt, but I don't. I thought about answering with not being able to change the oil in a car too ;)

That's a cute random thought!

My maternal grandparents were Gangeen and Granddaddy. Gangeen was my older's sister's baby attempt to say Granny and it stuck. Even all our friends called her Gangeen.

Hey, I'm Debby with a Y, too. Nice to meet you. I was just stopping by visiting all the wonderful blogs on the Hodge podge list.

I can't do any of those things either and neither do I want to learn. Loved the random thought. Have you signed up for BookBub? You can select your genre and get a list of books by email (some free and none over $2.99) every day. I have literally filled my iPad Kindle app with them. Just something else to consider. Good to visit with you today.

My "can't do" list could have been a page long as well but I did stop at 3. Good answers and an enjoyable HP today. Blessings!

Ha ha! I'm definitely not a sugar and spice kind of gal. Too funny.
I enjoyed reading your hodgepodge! I like your grandparent names! My reading has decreased as I do a lot of reading via blogs, too. Airplane trips give me the best reading time these days.
Hope your week goes well!

I haven't done much reading this winter either. I'm hoping to rectify that. I want to read "The Shack" again before the movie comes out and I'm listening to a Karen Kingsbury book while I'm working.

Hsve a great day Debby.

As far as reading goes. I have lots of books on my devices that I don't read anywhere near as fast as I buy them too. I'm slowly getting back on track this year… Slowly.

I LOVE your random thought!

Pretty sure the list of things I can't do is longer than the list of things I can do : ) Hope you have a great weekend!

SWMBO and I have been to San Diego a few times. We love Seaport Village, the Zoo and the beaches. I love the USS Midway floating museum and Balboa Park. It helps that our son lives out there with his family. SWMBO and I have two Chinese Crested dogs. They are little and yappy as many little dogs are. We love the "Littles" as we call them all the same. Thanks for your supportive words and for your visit to my blog page.

I like the idea of a road trip Debby. Dinner is one me if you all get to KC. ツ

Good Afternoon,
Oh, your bowl of mixed nuts sound delicious. We eat a lot of raw/unsalted nuts too. My can't do list is just like yours plus much more! lol

I hope you will have a good afternoon. Sending love and hugs.
