How can it be March 1st already?
Volume 299
Can't believe that number!
Way to go Joyce....
1. 'Slow and steady wins the race'...tell us about a time this was true in your own life.
These kind of questions always make my mind go blank......but I can guarantee you that something will come to mind a few days after Hodgepodge is over!
2. 'As slow as molasses'...Do you like molasses? How about maple syrup? Caramel? Butterscotch? What's your favorite of the slow moving treats mentioned here, and what's your favorite food made with that sweet treat?
Molasses is okay but I don't use it very often but it is packed full of vitamins! I do like a tiny bit of pure organic maple syrup on my oatmeal. Yes I do like caramel and butterscotch too but don't have them very often.
I think my favorite would be Butterscotch Haystacks made with Chow Mein noodles. (Now I want to make some.) They make really cute nests for an Easter treat with speckled egg candies inside.
3. Your favorite slow song?
Well I love What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong which Mark and Amber danced to at her wedding. Right now I'm going with Endless Love with Lionel Richie and Diana Ross.
4. Your favorite thing to make in a slow cooker or crock pot?
Probably Basic Chili from A Year of Slow Cooking by Stephanie O'Dea. The recipe in her book is slightly different and I make it with 4 cans of black beans drained because I don't care for other beans that much.
5. 'You may delay, but time will not.' ~Benjamin Franklin Are you more a hurrier or a delayer when it comes to unpleasant tasks that need doing? What are you currently either delaying or hurrying to get through this week or month?
I am definitely a delayer which is silly. It is better to just get things done. For example back in January we faxed some paperwork for continued care with the knee surgeon. (Because our doctor changed medical groups and they are not part of that group)
I should have called right away but I didn't. I don't like making phone calls. As it turns out they say they never got it and I am going to hand deliver it on Thursday!
6. Tell us three things you encounter regularly or even just occasionally that you find to be annoyingly slow.
I generally have a lot of patience for things. I find waiting for toast to be annoyingly slow, I think that is why I seldom make it.

Truthfully I find that the checkers at Target are slower these days, the stores are pushing us to do our own checkout. Another one which seems to be slower these days is the service at Chili's. Sometimes we go there after bowling and it has become rather annoying lately.
7. March is National Craft Month. Are you crafty? Tell us about something crafty you'll try in the next thirty one days. Or something crafty you'd like to try or wish you had the skill to make happen.
I use to be very crafty but not anymore!
8. Insert your own random thought here.

On Saturday I made Easy Provolone Chicken and it was absolutely delicious! We just wanted to keep eating it, however we didn't but we had leftovers on Monday night.

Hi Debby! I can relate to #5. We had to hand deliver paperwork to my mom's doctor after she died, for life insurance. When I saw how chaotic their office was, I understood why they list my two sets of faxed info!!
I do agree stores are leaning towards self checking these days and Target is one of them for sure! I think also the restaurants that have the machine at the table where you can order, play games, pay your bill, they are also training us to get used to that instead of a person serving you and taking care of the bill, etc. One big automation I fear down the road. I too am amazed that it is March 1st. This year is speeding by!
betty
the slow answer for me is Traffic Traffic Traffic in all 3 places but number 4 is toast. I like cheese toast made in the toaster oven, it takes 3 hours to toast. the chicken looks both easy and tasty.. I like maple syrup and I saw that the hot weather has killed the maple flow up north, to the tune of 75 percent less.
Well, I knit and crochet and do a tiny bit of sewing. My upcoming project will be to knit as many mice as I can and sell them. Part of the money will then go to a Dutch foundation dealing with stomach, liver and intestinal problems. My parents had that charity as their chosen charity at their wedding anniversary (because of my grandfather), but it has now become even more personal with my mother dealing with intestinal cancer.
Well i am like you always think of the right answer - later. I can't say i like molasses. I have my crock pot on today with chicken in it already. My favorites slow song is Georgia on my Mind - lol. Love, sandie
That chicken looks delicious! We had Chili's for lunch yesterday and fortunately their service was very good.
My Mississippi friends say molasses is very good on a biscuit. It is supposed to be good for your thyroid especially, but I'm not wild about the taste. Maybe in a cookie, which might defeat the healthy benefits : ) Hope you're having a great day!
Yum, that chicken provolone looks delicious. Endless Love is another great song choice. I especially like the humming part ;) Have a great week :)
Chili's here is also slow. Love your number 1 answer. That happens to me, too. I'm going to look up the recipe for that chicken.
Our Chili's holds the record for the longest wait we've EVER had in a restaurant (90 minutes). We haven't been back since.
You know, I've never tried Butterscotch Haystacks. I could be missing something great :)
I'm a little like you, in that I think of the best answers--after the Hodgepodge is over...

I hate making phone calls too and always procrastinate when it vomes to making them.
That chicken looks seriously good
"Endless Love" was the first movie that David and I saw together on my 16th birthday. It has been our song for years. :)
I bet that Easy Provolone Chicken is great! Thanks for the link.
I've had butterscotch haystacks, or something similar, before and loved them. I've never made them myself, though. Maybe I'll have to give it a try some day.
Have a blessed day!
Endless Love is a great song. Like Suzanne said above, we saw the movie Endless Love on her sixteenth birthday which was our first date. The movie was not too great but the song is very good. It is now our song.
I don't know that I could pick one slow song (I love so many), but we used Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" as the processional in our wedding.
I don't know about Target (I've quit patronizing them), but try and avoid the 'selfie' check-out lanes whenever possible.
Sure, I'd like to pretend (that) I'm protesting their taking away a job opening .... but in truth, I'm so afraid I'll screw something up and wind up being the laughing stock de' jour.
That provolone chicken sounds amazing!
I am so with you on #5; dealing with insurance and referrals is a lot of "hurry up and wait." I'm going to have to take a peek at the recipe for that provolone chicken; it looks delicious! Enjoy your day! :)
Those little haystacks are a really cute idea, especially with speckled eggs inside! And I'm going to print out the recipe to your Provolone Chicken. We have grands coming this weekend and I'm going over recipes today before grocery shopping tomorrow. Hope you have a great weekend, Debby. xo
I love butterscotch haystacks! I dislike waiting in the line at Wal-Mart but I don't like using the self-check out....I feel when I do I am not allowing someone to have a job...I know it is just me.
I enjoyed reading your answers, Debby! Your Provolone Chicken sounds wonderful! We love chicken and provolone, so I'm sure we would enjoy this.
I have not had the haystacks candy in a long time. Love it!
Oh thanks for the link to the chicken recipe...it sounds good. I hate to make phone calls, too. My mother did as well so we made a plan...I would make her calls and she would make mine. It worked really well! ☺️ If I could just get my daughter talked into this arrangement.
My goodness that provolone chicken dish looks amazing...may I stop by?? :)
I agree that some fast food chains deserve to have their "fast food" cards suspended. The wait lately seems to have increased for some unknown reason. The provolone chicken looks yummy. Thanks for your continued prayers for SWMBO. She seems to have turned a corner and by the grace of God might be well enough to come home on Monday.Until next time...
I thought about you the other day! I saw a dog that looked like Skye! :)
I'm going to check out that recipe...looks good!
I'm so with you on the butterscott haystacks!
That easy provolone chicken looks devine!!!!
