1. What's surprised you most about your life or life in general?
How quickly it goes by! One day you are thirty and raising your children, then suddenly you have reached the age of retirement in the blink of an eye. We tell ourselves to make the most of each day, cherish the moment, but the days get busy and it is hard to accomplish that sometimes!
2. Sweet potato fries, sweet potato casserole, a baked sweet potato, a bowl of butternut squash soup, a caramel apple or a slice of pumpkin pie...you have to order one thing on this list right now. Which one do you go for?

I guess I will say pumpkin pie but a baked sweet potato should be my first choice but who passes up on a slice of pie!!!
3. What's a famous book set in your home state? Have you read it? On a scale of 1-5 (5 is fantastic) how many stars does it rate?
According to my google search "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck is the most famous book for the state of California. No I haven't read it.
4. There are 60 days until Christmas...have you started your shopping? How do you stay organized for the holidays?
I do have some gifts already and will most likely be buying a lot of gift cards this year. This will probably be the first year that I will not be organized.
5. October 26th is National Tennessee Day. Have you ever lived or spent any time in Tennessee? Is this a state you'd like to visit one day? The top rated tourist attractions in Tennessee are-
The Great Smoky Mountain National Park (Gatlinburg area), Elvis's Graceland (Memphis), Birth of the Music Biz (Memphis and Nashville), Dollywood (Pigeon Forge), Tennessee's Military Heritage (many battlefields), The Hermitage (Andrew Jackson's home), The Parthenon (Nashville), Oak Ridge American Museum of Science and Energy, Chattagnooa and the Tennessee Valley Railroad, Downtown Knoxville, Lookout Mountain, The Titanic Museum (Pigeon Forge), The Museum of Appalachia (Clinton), and The Lost Sea Adventure (Sweetwater)

I did see Elvis's Graceland from the gates. No I have nothing particular that I would want to see at this time.

woo hoo on cancun wedding almost here. the biggest surprise is just what you said plus how did Bob and I go from age 40 and 48 to 73 and 81 in the blink of an eye.
I love sweet potato any way they cook, with tater pie my favorite, but since that is not a choice, I would order the tater casserole, but that is NOT on my diet. there are many books about Savannah GA and I read a few but can't remember the names. none of them stuck in my memory. To kill a mocking bird comes to mind because they made the movie in Savannah when I was in highschool
my son lives in TN and I would go there if I were going anywhere
I am surprised life went so fast too. I love pumpkin pie.

The sweet potato one was kinda hard to answer, because I love almost all of them. lol

Great pic of Amber and Dylan at Glacier. That place is so gorgeous. I read East of Eden many years ago and all I remember about it was the bad brother. I'm surprised you haven't seen the movie since you are a movie buff. I think everybody answered number one the same. Life sped by, didn't it?

Hi Debby, I enjoyed reading the questions and answers to this weeks Hodgepodge. I love sweet potatoes-baked, in a casserole or fries. I also love a bowl of Butternut Squash soup-in fact had Autumn Harvest soup at Pannera's this week. We had an uncle and aunt who lived in Pulaski Tenn....loved the state. Maine is first on my list and then Kentucky, with Tenn. coming in behind.

I love Dolly Parton, so would love to see Dollywood. For some reason I think that Tennessee is a landlocked state (looked it up, it is) and having a Titanic museum there sounds a bit weird to me. But, that might just be me!
Only two weeks until the wedding? Keep calm, take it easy until then and then go for it!!

Cancun?! Wow! Nice place for a wedding. Have a great time. You are so right about life passing by so quickly. I cannot imagine how our kids grew up so fast to have kids of their own and how fast their kids are growing. Our eldest grandson is a preteen. Yikes!
