Amber and Dylan arrived from Great Falls, MT last Thursday. We expected them around dinner time but if you know them nothing is ever set in stone! They were picking up our favorite Aurelio's Chicago pizza in Las Vegas, which they did, only we ate dinner at 11 pm.
Wait let me tell you this before I go on. So they were set to leave early the morning of Halloween. Amber was home on Tuesday and Dylan came home from work that morning. They decided to watch a few things on TV before running the errands that they had. NOT!
They fell asleep and didn't wake up until after the stores where closed for the night. So they couldn't leave early the next morning because they needed to get the fruit flies and crickets for their frogs. The store wouldn't be open until 9 am. So needless to say they got a very late start.
So on Thursday morning they ended up sleeping in, didn't leave the hotel until 11 am but never bothered to tell us that and Amber wasn't answering my text messages. Yes, that's Amber and Dylan and we love them with all our heart. I have never seen two people who just have so much fun together. They love each other so much and they are laughing all the time!!
We did enjoy our Aurelio's pizza and are enjoying our time with them. Of course that doesn't happen until about 4:30 in the afternoon when they decide to get out of bed!
We finally got them to watch a movie with us during the day yesterday. They have also been busy going out in the evening meeting up with friends and also with Dylan's family.
We had plans on Friday night to go to Adam and Gabby's house so they could meet their nephew JP. We had a great evening and it was wonderful to have my family together in one place again. Often when we go to Adam and Gabby's house we will Skype with Amber and Dylan.
On Monday night I got a text from Adam asking me if I would want to come out to their house and spend some time with little James while Gabby catches up on some sleep. YES was my answer. I stayed about 4 hours and it was wonderful. Gabby texted me after I got home and said it was so nice having me and would I maybe like to come out once a week and of course I said yes.
Mark's mom was due to arrive yesterday afternoon. We were going to pick her up at the airport in Orange, CA where Adam and Gabby live and swing by their house for a short visit so mom could see JP. We already had a date set for Saturday when we are all going there and bringing along a Filet Mignon dinner to cook for everyone.
Sadly Mark's mom ended up with an A-Fib attack that landed her in the hospital Wednesday night and she was not able to fly here yesterday. We are all so bummed about that but thankfully she is doing well and going home today.
She hasn't seen Amber and Dylan in 10 years and it was her first opportunity to meet her very first great grandchild along with seeing Adam and Gabby's house. She was so excited to make this trip. I think she may have gotten herself a little worked up about traveling.
I was up early yesterday morning making the Bohemian Hoska that I make at Christmas and on some special occasions like this one. So we are enjoying this one without grandma Vivian.
I am very excited about our Saturday visit. Along with Mark, Amber, Dylan and myself Gabby's mom, sister, brother in law and their children will all be there. Gabby's sister Denise and Jason are excited to spend time with Amber and Dylan. They all had a great time hanging out in Cancun last year when Adam and Gabby were married on November 12th!

Ahhh - I know you are going to love every second of the visit!!!! & especially loving on that baby!!!!
soo good to have time with all your family at one time, sorry Mark's mom is missing it. and also happy you can have once a week baby sitting grandma time with your new grandson, fun for you and gives the new mom a break and some resting time.. you are still in busy bee mode, see you on the other side when things slow down
Oh, I'm so sorry to learn about Vivian's episode! And WOW about Amber and Dylan. Thank God they arrived safely, but all the same, if my son were to ignore my texts I'd have been absolutely frantic, ready to call the Highway Patrol.
Still, you've so much to be thankful for. Enjoy it all!
Well I am sorry about the mother = but I am so glad that you got that wonderful visit.
I knew that you would love being a grandma.
And she asked you to come once a week.
Your daughter looks beautiful and just like you.
Well it sounds like you are really enjoying the visit. Sorry to hear about Marks mom, hope she's feeling better.
That's a shame about Vivian and her health, but probably better she got sick before traveling so that she was with her own doctor, etc. That is neat that you got to spend that time with JP and that it could be a weekly event! I knew they would rely on you once they got into a pattern to do so! And I know you love the time with him!! Good to hear the visiting is going well with Amber and Dylan. I know it will be tough to have them go back to Montana!
betty
So sorry about Mark's mom; hope she is feeling better. It seems my MIL goes into Afib anytime something out of the ordinary in her life is happening. LOL on the crickets and flies.
Prayers for your family time. Hope all goes well.
Love, Carla
Keep enjoying that family time- there is nothing that is as precious! You are blessed Debby!
Debby, I love this post! It sounds like everyone is doing well after a few hiccups. I know you're going to enjoy your weekly visits with your grandson and family. Happy Anniversary to Adam & Gabby!
You are a patience Mother and MIL for sure. I'm not so sure I would be. :o)) So glad you are having this special family time. Happy week!
Well I'm glad the 'kids' got there eventually. Yikes! So happy you get to spend some time each week with your grandson. I would so love to be able to do that. Enjoy every minute!
That's cool that you'll have regular time with the new baby each week.
I love that you Skype so everyone can be together, even if just virtually. Your family seems so awesome!
I'd love to try your Bohemian Hoska. Do you have a recipe?
Sounds like a great visit. Loving the bread...I just made bread for the first time about 1.5 yrs ago and have done it and tried different kinds several times since. Course I go for the easy ones to make, not those ones you have to feed or knead every so often! Great job on yours! My dowNfall is bread so I have to make and give away!
oops ...wanted to say I am sorry you deal with the COPD...that is another wicket issue, so sorry.
