On Christmas Eve Mark and I went to Macaroni Grill to have a late lunch and then we went to a 2 pm Christmas Eve service. Our meal was delicious and the service was wonderful. Just what I need on Christmas Eve.
We were invited to celebrate with Gabby's family but we have fallen into this pattern of going out to eat and attending a church service for about 10 years now ever since my Aunt Blanche and Uncle Bill had passed away. We use to spend Christmas Eve with them.
When we returned home from church Adam, Gabby and James arrived to drop off Roxy who was spending the night with us. Originally they were going to come here after their celebration and spend the night but decided to stay over at her sister's house. That way they could drink and enjoy their evening without worrying about driving here.
Roxy was a good girl. She is definitely still a puppy and kept me on my toes but it worked out okay. We brought her bed into our bedroom and she fell asleep after awhile. I know she wanted to come up on the bed but we decided that Skye should have our bed to herself.
Since they have a doggy door at home Roxy doesn't know how to tell us she wants to go potty so we just made sure we put her out every times she went to the door. Also because she is getting older she doesn't need to potty that often anyway. She didn't have any accidents!
So on Christmas morning Adam, Gabby and James arrived around 10:30. We had Hoska and coffee along with other snacks. We opened gifts and enjoyed each others company.
Little James did not want to nap at all. He was either happy, crying or eating! Of course this picture is of him being happy.
We made a Prime Rib with asparagus, mashed potatoes, rolls, etc. It was a lovely meal.
We also got to Skype with Amber and Dylan which made the day perfect. They really enjoyed seeing the baby. So much different then just enjoying photos of him! Wish they could have been here too but maybe next year.
Before they headed home I remembered that we hadn't taken any photos at all and we had to have a photo of James first Christmas at our house.
This picture is of my dad in Florida with Jordan his great-great-grandson! He is my niece Melissa's grandson. We both became grandparents this year. She at 42 and me at 67!
One New Year's Eve we stayed home. We were invited to hang with Adam and Gabby but decided to do our usual which is watch the evenings entertainment on TV, have some snacks and toast to the New Year at midnight. We actually stayed up until 2 am!
I finally got my calendars done and got thank you notes out. Now I am taking down Christmas. I will hopefully have that done in a few days!

What a wonder-full Christmas, Debby … thank you for sharing with us! Tom wanted to do a prime-rib, but we were asked to join my son's family so it was no contest. It's been so long; I can hardly wait to become a great-grandma!

It sounds like a perfect holiday. Roxy was an excellent house guest.
I love all the pictures, but so special with your dad and your grand nephew. Are there plans for Gabby and Adam to visit your dad and have him meet James? Christmas sounded like a very nice time and yummy on all the delicious food! I so admire you for making it to 2 a.m. on New Year's Eve/Day! That's amazing!!

It sounds like a perfect Christmas! Just wait till next year when that little fellow is running around! Your dad looks great. I think I can see a resemblance between him and your son. Happy New Year!!
You did a similar thing to us - Christmas with family, a quiet New Year's in. Not a bad way to celebrate!
