MY WORD FOR 2019

Yep, my word is push!
Actually my word for 2016 was push. I didn't even realize that when "push" came to me this year!

First let me give you an update to my doctor's appointments with my pulmonary doctor and my cardiologist. Sorry this ended up being pretty long.

My pulmonary appointment went well. They took me almost right away which was awesome. My lungs sounded clear to the doctor. What he is going to do is send me to physical therapy to teach me ways to expand the use of my lungs and hopefully show me how to get more exercise into my day without stressing out my lungs.

He did notice that I have been using a solution for my nebulizer the contains Ipratoplum Bromide along with Albuterol Sulfate. The Iprotoplum Bromide should not be used with Sprivia which is my wonder drug. (changed my life in 2011) It dries out the lungs to much. So that could be part of my issue.

So he was going to order me the solution with just the Albuterol. Unfortunately that order hasn't been placed yet and I've already called once on it.

My cardiologist appointment went okay also but just like the pulmonary doctor there were issues to deal with after my appointment. I don't understand the lack of performance that I encounter these days everywhere I go.

So he doesn't want to run any tests yet, the reason being that my previous cardiologist has not sent over my files yet even though we sent the request two months ago. So I had to call them to see what was up. They have the paperwork, so I went over all the details as to the doctor and the fax number. The woman I talked to said she was going to make a copy and put it on the desk of the person in charge of doing that so we shall see.

He changed the dose on two of my medications however their was an issue with one of them when I received it in the mail. I take 120 mg of a medication twice a day. He wanted to increase the dose. I'm not sure if when he saw that I take 120 mg that he didn't notice that it was twice a day. The prescription came in at 240 mg once a day. That is not an increase!

So I stopped there after bowling to explain to one of the girls the issue with the prescription. I told her that I'm willing to try 180 mg twice a day. Told her when I was originally put on this medication the 240 mg made me very lethargic so we went to twice a day.

So she calls me later and says the doctor approved the 180 once a day. WHAT!! I told her no, I now take 120 mg twice a day, it needs to be 180 mg twice a day. So she went back to the doctor and he okayed it. So we shall see how that one is when it arrives.

I'm not suppose to have any stress in my life for both the A-Fib and the COPD yet they certainly know how to cause it! I should be my own doctor.

So enough of that. The reason PUSH came to me is that I haven't felt well since before Thanksgiving and that is why I didn't start decorating that weekend for Christmas. My decorations were not officially done until December 18th.

I realized after Christmas that if I PUSH myself I can actually accomplish more than I think I can do. I will often sit back and do nothing because I don't think I can. I'm not saying it was easy but I did it.

So when I was at the pulmonary doctor and he talked about the physical therapy he said the same word to me. He said "this is going to make you push harder." I already had the word push chosen and I told him about the fact that I realized when I was decorating for Christmas that if I pushed myself I was actually able to do more than I thought I could.

UPDATE: Since I wrote this post and scheduled it to post today I want you to know that my prescription was wrong again. I see the cardiologist on the 11th of February and he is definitely going to get an earful from me!!!

Too much frustration going on with your doctors. I do hope they can get things straightened out and you can "push" stress free.
I know what you mean about not doing things because you don't think you can. I wouldn't say that's what stops me but I do know that when I push myself I'm often surprised by how much I manage to accomplish.

Good luck with all the medications. Just hope they will all work together well. I once had a lady on the bus with 10 different meds, half of which had to be taken to counteract something from the other half! It sounded mental to me!

I am sure by now that you are about ready to PUSH that doctor off a cliff. I hate it when something gets out of whack like the prescription, I have twice had similar incidents with doctors. also had a mix up with CVS that caused me to move my prescritons. that said we all have to watch all the health care providers because they don't watch us... PUSH on, hope they get your meds straight and the new one works

I could just scream with you. Sometimes I wonder if there are TOO many people working in the dr offices and that's why everything gets lost. My husband's family is dealing with something similar , while his aunt is getting sicker and sicker. It's ridiculous! I'm glad you are proactive and staying on top of things!! PUSH is a perfect word for this year!

To coin one of my boss' favorite exclamations, "UNACCEPTABLE!" Unfortunately in this day and age it's no longer OK to trust our doctors' implicitly.

I think all of your followers are now stressed after reading about all of your stress. Heaven's, that is definitely unacceptable! But, it is like my husband always says, "No one cares about your health or your money the way you do!" We have to take ownership with both because no one else cares as much as we do. Frustrating to say the least. But, I admire you for pushing through and staying on top of all these issues. Maybe you can see a few good movies and hold that grandbaby to release some of the stress.

I blame electronic medical records on the reason healthcare is so different now than years in the past. Doctors have to do so much more of their own time keeping the records up where in the past they would dictate the chart with usually the correct info and move on to the next patient. But maybe I'm a bit bias since electronic medical records cut into my income. Its good that you are on top of what medications you should be taking and the adjustments; it seems like the doctor and staff aren't. Can you imagine the older people dealing with issues like this? No wonder elderly people end up on lots of medicines and have no idea what they are taking or why they are taking it.

I hope you do give him an earful come February 11.

Push is a great word and its good it will be backed up with help to push you further with the physical therapy. I'm sure 2019 will be a great year as you push forward!

I completely understand your frustrations!!! I had the same kind of issues with my dermatologist. I have psoiriatic arthritis and my derm was attached to a plastic surgeon. It was a total nightmare! Every quarter when I had to schedule my shot ...it would take at least ten phone calls, they would ship it to the doctors office, I would get charged the wrong amount, I would have to make an appointment to get my shot and then be there at least an hour just to get a shot! They eventually dropped all the derm patients to focus on the "boob jobs" (they make more money there) and I had to find a new derm. My new doctor is AMAZING! I see her once a year...the shot is delivered to my home and I never even have to touch the phone!!! What a difference...look for a new doctor - I had no idea it could be this easy with the right doctor.

Oh my goodness!! I'm sorry you're having to deal with the frustration of your prescriptions.
PUSH seems to be the right word for you after receiving that added encouragement by your Dr. Prayers for you this year and you pushing yourself to new healthier self.

Oh my, this makes me more than crazy...How frustrating...
You certainly are proving that your word for the year is the right one. Keep PUSHING and being the squeaky wheel and get these meds. right...
It's funny that your word is Push..my word is similar this year too.
It's Pursue... the same feeling as push.
Hang in there Debby.

Praying Debby!
My friend Barry was having an awful time with wrong prescriptions. He had to really get forceful.
Please keep us posted.
Take Care,

PUSH....I understand that one. So sorry you have having to PUSH through life but hoping that things are going to cont to get better for you. Just listen to your body as you are pushing, don't over do it. I have a hard time listening to that one, seems that to get things done, you have to push even when the body says NO. Take care.

Wanted to also say that you came to mind a couple of times during the loss of my mom....my sis in law would tell me, "just Breathe"....

Sorry for all the frustrations.
That is a good word to have. I have never specifically chosen a word and always think I will do that. I have a blog post started of my goals for the year that I need to finish at some point.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Good grief - I can't believe they can't get the prescription right! How frustrating. Looks like you'll have to keep pushing there, too.
