GOOD OLD DAYS
1. Do you know who supplied the voice of Lamb Chop, Hush Puppy and Charlie Horse? It was Shari Lewis according to Reminisce.com. It was a very popular kids show in the 50's and 60's. What childhood program meant a lot to you or taught you things you feel were important to you.
I'm going to say Captain Kangaroo. I was born October 3rd 1951 and he started his show on October 3rd 1953. Of course I remember Bozo the Clown too but I'm not sure I learned much from him. I would come home for lunch and watch him.
2. Is there a memory from your past that makes you feel at home, warm and nostalgic? Maybe you would share it with us. Perhaps there is a story your parents told you that brings back good memories.
It wasn't exactly a normal life for me at home. My mother was depressed and she drank but that didn't happen early on, I was a little older before that happened. I think my best memories were my grandparents coming in from Florida. These were my mom's parents.
The basement was fixed up with a kitchen, bathroom, sitting area, etc. Nothing was really divided up into rooms per say. It was just a good time for a few months in the summer. My grandmother was an excellent cook and made the best chocolate chip cookies in the world.
I also can't leave out Christmas because my parents went above and beyond to show us the best Christmases every! There were also several years growing up that we went to a cottage in Michigan which my dad's parents had and I have very found memories of that too.
3. Dirty Dancing was a big hit movie of the 80's. Mullet hair dos for guys and huge puffy hair for girls was a hallmark of those days. Did you dance at school dances, Proms, etc? What kind of dancing did you enjoy?
Love that movie!! I did dance back in the 60's but I wasn't a huge fan of dancing. I did go to my prom. I can tell you that when Mark and I got married we did not have a dance together because neither of us enjoy dancing that much.
4. Do you think we have passed by the good old days or do you think we will be able to look back and see these as the good old days in the future? Will your kids or grand kids think they were?
I think every generation will always think of their childhood as the good old days but I think our parents along with ours were the best and my children's were good too. Being 39 and 41 I think they had good childhoods to remember fondly.
Nothing feels that good now and I don't know how being on a cell phone changes all of that the younger generations. However I do believe that there are parents out there that are working very hard to show their children a normal happy childhood.

Enjoyed your answers Debby. Hubby and me were not much as dancers even though he played in bands lol. DIL loves to dance. Thank God the wee one got rhythm from her because son has none. I wonder about childhoods these days. So different from how I was raised and then raised my kids. Too much technology I think!

Great answers! It is fun learning things about others.
I see yo ur point about every generation thinking theirs is the best. Thats very true!
I remember Shari Lewis - do you?
Also I am glad you have fond memories of your grandparents - I hope Andy will too.
I love Captain Kangaroo when I was little.
I was never a dancer and felt clumsy and uncoordinated whenever I tried
the Captain was around for my children, there was no favorite show for me in my childhood, we did not get a TV until 1959 when I was 15 years old.. my favorite programs were books, Tarzan and the City of Gold was read over and over.. we always had a good Christmas too.. I have never been to a wedding where they danced. raised in a strict church with no dancing allowed.
I loved Captain Kangaroo and especially Mr. Greenjeans.
And dancing. I danced a LOT in college - it's what we did for entertainment.
