This week, let's talk about the Fourth of July......
Fourth of July
1. Do you think the 4th is an important holiday? Why, why not?
Yes I think we should celebrate. On July 4th 1776, the 13 colonies claimed their independence from England, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States.
2. How do you celebrate? If you are not American, do you celebrate your nation's national holiday?
It depends. Sometimes we hang with our son or we do our own thing. We will usually grill something to eat. Because of our view we can usually see fireworks from several towns.
This year we are going to our sons house for one of our social distancing visits. It will just be us with them. They will grill hamburger and hot dogs.
This past Saturday we had a visit with them. We love seeing James even though we can't hold him.
3. In the time of Laura Ingals Wilder, all Americans read the Declaration of Independence every year on the 4th and lemonade was a big treat for the town picnic. Do you read the Declaration of Independence? Or, your nations important papers? How about lemonade? Are you a fan?
No, can't say we have ever done that. I was a big fan of lemonade for years. I now drink water with a splash of fresh lemon juice.
4. Picnic, eat inside the house or eat out for the 4th?
Honestly we would normally eat in the house. This year we will be eating outside because we are social distancing.
I only go into their house to use the restroom and I wear a mask. Outside we stay at least 10 to 12 feet away. We don't wear a mask so James can see our faces. He weirded out enough with Mark's beard!
Side note: Every time we would see James before Covid-19 he would run up to Mark and want him to pick him up. I cry about this now because it was such a special bonding moment for them. Now James seems to pay more attention to me. Like I said he kind of stares at Mark because of his recent beard. Breaks my heart.

I am sure you will see all the illegal fireworks going off. There sure has been a lot lately. Enjoy your celebration!
You already know that I am not a holiday person so most of these questions don't pertain to me but I can't say I have never read the full Constitution and never will. Unless I write it in real English haha. Precious Jennings is growing into a little man instead of a baby. That is heartbreaking that he is not having the relationship with his grandpa that he had in the past I do hope soon you'll be able to hold him before he's too big to be able to hold
I haven't done any kind of celebration for the 4th in a long time. When my kids were little we would take them to see fireworks and of course there was always picnic food.
I guess we'll never have grandchildren...I can only imagine how hard it would be not to snuggle.
This year, our church is having a cookout with hotdogs, hamburgers & ice cream💖
I wouldn't even know where to look for the official paperwork for this country, let alone read it! I'll stick with knowing I live in a monarchy and a democracy. I can choose to celebrate whatever I want and today it's my birthday!
I enjoyed your answers.
Have a great Tuesday.
Other than not being able to hold and love on James, your plans for the 4th sound very nice. Grilled foods taste great on a holiday. I always love the photos you share of your time together. He is a precious baby boy! xo
Do you like Mark's beard? Hubby grew a mustache since he retired and honestly I'm not fond of it. I keep hoping he'll grow tired of it.
James is soooo adorable!! Do you interact with him more when you social distance visit? Like try to engage him in things? Maybe that's why he is drawn more to you these days.
Your 4th sounds like a fun celebration! We'll see the illegal fireworks people put off here and see how the dog takes to the noise. Probably grill something too, like the traditional picnic food.
Be safe out there!

Oh my gosh... he is adorable!!! So heartbreaking what all of this is doing to families!! Happy Tuesday!
Precious boy! Who is the photo0grapher?
I enjoy lemonade every once in a while, but like you, just prefer those flavored drops in my Dasani.
I love our country!!!
Your Grandson is so cute! Enjoy the celebration you DO get to have! It stinks to have to do the social distance thing. Loved your answers! Have a nice holiday!

I love Independence Day and hope no one finds anything wrong in that!
Maybe Mark ought to shave his beard!
I truly believe that if everyone has a mask on & has freshly washed hands, you could indeed pick up the little one, Debby. I'm a retired RN who is very very VERY cautious about this virus and believes that precaution should be upmost in everybody's mind. But I truly think it would be safe, in the above mentioned scenario I described, to touch the baby. But that's just me.... you do whatever you think is best. Love, Andrea XOXO
Happy 4th of July to you and your family! James is so stinking cute!
As it happens, my husband and I got engaged on the 4th of July, so we also celebrate that.
