As you know last Friday was James 2nd birthday. So Adam and Gabby picked up James after his nap at daycare and took him to a park for a train ride. Then he got his big birthday present when they returned home. Also being 2 he can now face forward in his car seat! (Sorry this post got long)
Put together while he was at daycare!
On Saturday we went over early evening like we normally do and celebrated his birthday with our social distancing although we did put on masks and had James take us in the house to see his new kitchen.
I believe I mentioned this once before in a post but there was another time when we put on masks and went to look at his bedroom which had been newly decorated from the dinosaurs that were in there for his nursery. A table, chairs and bookcase had been added.
Well when we did that last time he was thrilled we were in the house with him. He immediately wanted to go on the sofa because we would play with him in the corner of the sofa when we babysat.
This time I have no words to explain his excitement, I could just cry he was so happy. (Everyone else in his life he gets to be with, in their bubble, but not us. That's because we are high risk) He squealed running to his bedroom to show us his refrigerator. Then we took a picture with him that I think I will save for Christmas.
He backed away from the candles.
Of course he always tries to sneak down by us!
He opened his presents and we had a nice evening. Adam had recently picked up a small standing light that shines a ghost on the wall. James likes playing with it.
So it was getting dark out and he started shining it on the garage wall outside. I first pretended to be afraid of it and I've never heard him giggle so hard. Then I started chasing after it and the fun continued. I had to take a rest and he kept saying more! Adam caught a picture of me chasing it.....
Then on Sunday he had a party with Gabby's family and possibly some other people. I have a photo of his little bundt cake. I saw a video of them singing happy birthday to him but he turned backwards in the high chair and didn't want anything to do with blowing out the candle.
I texted Adam later to see if he had a good time at his party and he said "yes, but not as much fun as he did with grandma chasing the ghosts the night before!" That made me smile.....

He is just so adorable. I'm glad you got to spend time with him for his birthday.
I pretty much only see Presley in the videos her mom shows on Facebook.
Aww Debby, I love this post. Happy 2nd birthday to James. He looks so very happy. Loved the picture of you chasing the ghost! lol I would have loved to hear him giggling!
Have a great weekend with Roxie!
Okay you know how much I love James and how much I think he's just absolutely the cutest little butt and ever now I'm in love with Roxie too and she appears to be smiling and that last photo matching him smile for smile! That kitchen is absolutely adorable also and just perfect for him just the right size. I can tell how much he loves it. Did you notice in the picture of him standing in front of the kitchen that he has a halo over his head from whatever that is in the cabinet. It jumped out that it look like a Halo
James is so so cute!! I loved all the pictures and you telling about his special time with you celebrating his birthday! Cute kitchen/fridge! He will have so much fun playing with it! I bet that he loves riding face forward! Now he can see mommy and daddy! Poor Roxie; I bet she is going to be looking for Skye! Have a fun weekend with her though!
betty
I would have loved to see a video of you chasing the ghost lol. Nothing better than making a little one giggle. He is just so precious!
Ooooohhhh, Roxy's gorgeous. But NOT "knock down beautiful" like James! :-) I'm glad you folks had a good time with James on his birthday, Debby. Of course not as good of a time as pre-covid was but... these days I find myself saying "it's better than nothing" more & more often. ~Andrea xoxo
Roxey is big and beautiful. but not as beautiful as James. I am glad you got to celebrate with him even though it was not at his party. Your son is very compliant with you - mine not so much!
He looks so happy and I know he was happy to see you!
Love, sandie
Love how your family's worked out a win-win arrangement for all concerned. (Well, given the Covid cloud, that is.) James sounds like such a happy child; you guys are super blessed.
LOVE that photo of you 'chasing' the ghost. Suppose Adam and Gabby will do a video sometime so we can hear James giggle?
This post warms my heart. I'm so glad you had a chance to interact with him, and that he treasures you so much. That must help a lot. ❤️
I'm so glad you could at least go inside and see James' new things. He is so precious and I pray the time will come soon that you can snuggle together.
Love the picture of you chasing the ghost. Precious memories.

How adorable! I'm glad you got to spend time with him like that. I will be so glad when we can get together with people we love without asks and distancing.
Great post, Debby! I'm glad you have these memories and I look forward to the Christmas photo. 💖
Wonderful, so glad for you and the interactions. Life just sucks right now. A baby giggling is like heaven on earth.
Debby, this just makes me so happy!!! I LOVED this post, because I am so happy for you!!! I loved the ghost story!!!!
