1. When were you last a guest at an event or in someone's home? Tell us about it. Do you enjoy having guests in your own home?
I haven't been inside anyone's home since March of 2020. (only to pee at Adam and Gabby's) I did enjoy having the kids over. Adam, Gabby and James were here once since March of 2020. We hung out in the backyard.
2. What has you 'tied up in knots' currently or recently? Are you any good at tying actual knots?
Obviously the state of our country and the loss of America as we know it has me tied up in knots. Yes I can tie a knot but I don't know any boat knots but I believe I could do a neck tie.
3. What's something you've been wanting to do and have decided 2021 will be the year you 'take the plunge'?
Absolutely nothing. Things will not be normal for a long time and I won't do anything until it is.
4. Something in your home that's old? Something new? Something borrowed? Something blue?
I have an old Singer sewing machine which my grandfather used for tailoring, a lovely dinning room set that belonged to Mark's grandparents and an ironing board that belonged to my grandmother.
We haven't bought anything new in awhile except for my treadmill. I can't think of anything that we would have borrowed and I have some new blue pajamas!

My grandmother had a sewing machine like that.
I love your old things, beautiful.. my grandmother had a sewing machine much like that. my stomach is in knots and has been for 4 days trying to buy a desk top... did not sleep last night from buyers remorse because i ordered one from wm and was to pick it up this morning at 7 at WM, at 6 am they sent an email said they canceled the order..
in our house everything in it is old, including the PEOPLE..we do have a new dog, 13 weeks so i think that counts. i never go to others homes and non one has been in our house in over 2 years except repair guys
Lovely what you did with the Singer sewing machine Debby! How neat with all the "old" things you have; truly beautiful! Lovely random thought too!
betty
I agree with your #2. So sad. I love the furniture, especially the sewing machine and how you have it displayed, beautiful!
Love that sewing machine! I don't watch the news so I just hear bits & pieces about what's going on. I like it in my little bubble!
Certainly agree with you on the state of our country. Will we ever be the same again? I'm in knots just thinking about it all. Love your sewing machine, it's a true treasure.
I love the wooden ironing board! I would love to have one like that!
You know I am with you on number 2 - my heart is sad. But I have to think positive and I realize this is all known by God already.
I love your old sewing machine!
1. When were you last a guest at an event or in someone's home? Tell us about it. Do you enjoy having guests in your own home? A couple of days before Christmas. My boss and friend Theresa, so we could do our gifts and we had dinner. I love having guest but since COVID, I am picky. And Theresa, Julie and James and Amber and her family are all I have had since COVID.
2. What has you 'tied up in knots' currently or recently? Are you any good at tying actual knots? I guess the last thing I tied up in knots would have been the wreathes I made for the inside kitchen windows, I actually tied a knot for them to hang by. I used to macrame so yes, I can tie knots. HAHA...and that is me taking that question literally...haha
3. What's something you've been wanting to do and have decided 2021 will be the year you 'take the plunge'?
that would be a goal I came up with a couple of years ago but did not get it done cause that was the yr I lost mom...so I think I will shoot for that this yr.....learning to do watercolor.
4. Something in your home that's old? Something new? Something borrowed? Something blue? HAHA....old~ME! lol...actually I have several old things but like you I also have a antique sewing machine like yours that belonged to my great grandma. But I have an antique metal bed also that I love. Something new~ Misty! haha. Borrowed~ I don't borrow things, so I really can't come up with anything on that question. Something blue ~ haha...Misty, a Russian Blue! Kidding, there is a blue box sitting here that I am going to take downstairs.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
my random thought would be that I need to get up off my rear and do something besides blogging...
I have a similar sewing machine table, but don't sew anymore at all. My machine is old, but not one of the orignals. We are going to remove the machine from the table, take the box off and have a piece of granite put on top so we can use it as an accent table on one of the porches : )
I like your old Singer sewing machine.
Thank you for the quote you shared in your random!
Love you Debby!!

My version of number 6 is, "The quality of our lives depends on how we focus our energy and our attention." And one of my many mantras is, "Centered, creative, and constructive." It's nice to have something constructive to do with our emotional energy...much better than trying to repress it.
I, too, am totally tied up in knots over what's happening to our Nation. (Circling the drain .....)
Love the old sewing machine! My DIL inherited that which belonged to my mother, but I've not seen it in years and I'm reluctant to ask.
Lovely random thought, Debby. I am trying to work on that this year. Enjoy your week.
I enjoyed your answers. Your random thought is a good one for right now. I'm going to save it!
I have also not been inside anyone's home since March and haven't had anyone other than two of our kids in ours. I love having guests and love going to others houses and I'm so eager to be able to do that again some day.
I love company and we had our church small group at our home in November..Family here for Thanksgiving and Christmas (there are only 6 of us) Missing all the fun of large gatherings.
Politics can put me into knots ASAP. Staying far away from it!!
No good at real knots though.
I think Life will pretty much stay the way it is now for a long time..boo...
We have quite a few antiques handed down from my MIL at her passing. I do love all things old and pretty. Nothing really new at this time. Trying to sell on Ebay to purge!!!

My Dad has his grandmother's ironing board. I told him I would love to have it someday.
Have a good rest of the week!

Hi Debby, I agree with being 'tied up in knots'😢🤗
Interesting post, Debby! We haven't visited anyone since March, and only our 2 sons have been in the house since then. We're just outside of Chicago and it sounds like maybe the restaurants will be open soon for inside dining, I hope! That's a great sewing machine you have! Lots of old things here, including us; but my fave is an 8' cherry secretary mom bought at a farm auction for $1 some 85 years ago. I have nothing blue, it's shades of red and purple and here.
Great answers. Loved seeing all the antiques shown. I am partial to #s 2 & 6
I have two parents at home who are old, does that count?? Seriously though, I love old things, especially if there is a family connection.
I have visited two other families and we have been visited by several over the past year, but it has been much less than in other years. Hope it will soon be back to normal again.
Debby,
The dilemma of our country is disturbing but I have to remind myself God is in control and pray that it's not too late for things to turn around. I pray that you can find peace in God's presence. I love the old Singer sewing machine. My mom has my grandmother's old Singer. Maybe one day, it'll be passed to me. I love your verse for newly weds found in Matthew. I also love your random thoughts about a positive mind set. We can choose to be happy or miserable. I prefer being happy. :)
Come visit me when you can at Curious as a Cathy
