Welcome to Tuesday 4 begun by our friend Toni Taddeo and kept up in her memory.
This week let's talk about November!
1. Besides Thanksgiving is there anything about November you like/dislike?
My husband Mark has his 70th birthday on the 18th so that would be a like.
I think the only dislike is that it gets dark out so early.
2. How is November weather where you live? Does it suit you?
The weather is pretty nice in November. We live in Southern California. Yes it suits me just fine.
3. When do you plan for Thanksgiving? Eat home or out? Menu?
We will be going to Adam and Gabby's for Thanksgiving. For the last 30 years I have cooked the Thanksgiving meals.
The meal would consist of a turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, baked sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and rolls. It is nice to have someplace else to go.
Mark often wants a turkey meal on his birthday too which I have done a few times. It's easier to do now then when I was also hosting a Thanksgiving meal around the same time.
4. When do you begin your decor and plans for Christmas. It "officially" begins after Thanksgiving and the Macy's Parade when Santa arrives at the end.
I have always started decorating Thanksgiving weekend. This year my tree is going to go up this week. I need motivation and I'm hoping that helps. I have also started getting a few small gifts but I do have a lot of shopping to do!!
I need to get suggestions from our kids. I better send out the emails to them! Last year Amber and Dylan picked things out from Amazon so it was nice to be able to send them right to their house and there is no sales tax in Montana.
For the out of town family members we send gift cards to everyone. It just got to be too much work to buy gifts, wrap them and mail them out. Now I can just put them in a flat envelope to the houses and actually do the labels at home from the post office. I just go and have them scan them so I have a record of them shipping.
Thank you Anne.

I can't really say there is anything specific that I like or dislike about Thanksgiving. Well except for the turkey dinner of course. I used to cook but my daughter has taken over the job which is fine with me.
I'm the same with decorating for Christmas. It gets done after Thanksgiving.
Congratulations about "going someplace" for Thanksgiving, Debby. Enjoy a more relaxed Thanksgiving morning this year! ~Andrea xoxoxo
It’s a job cooking Thanksgiving dinner for everyone, for sure!! Enjoy having it cooked for you this year!
Happy birthday to Mark early - you can make him a turkey now. And take photos of your tree! I LOVE Amazon.
i love TG dinner, like the one you describe but only if i don't have to cook it. i like our Florida November weather and get excited because from NOV to March is my favorite FLorida weather... we eat out on TG and have since 2008. just two of us, why cook. but that was before pandemic.. I wond a Christmas painting and it came yesterday, will be hanging it up in a few days. maybe it will get me started or maybe not
Hey there! It sounds like y'all are totally on top of things this year. How wonderful, your getting enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with Adam and Gabby! (No muss, no fuss.) With the exception of my friend in Florida, we're going the cash/gift cards route, too. I'd love to buy a 'thing' or two, but can't get my son and DIL to admit what they'd like.
I'm with you on the darkness of November. Lights on at 4 in the afternoon..boo.
My birthday is Nov. 4 so now I'm a year older..trying to do IT gracefully.. (78)
We have needed the rain so badly here in No. CA but the gloominess gets to me.
Not sure what's happening for Thanksgiving this year. Maybe we will just have a quiet dinner at home by our selves with plenty of leftovers...I think that's the best part.
We will try to get the tree and decorations up right after Thanksgiving since we are having our bible study holiday potluck at our home on Nov. 30...it's actually a great incentive to get it done and over with..
Gift cards really are a life saver, especially when postage has gone up.

We are setting up our tree early too! We will start this weekend. The family room will go Christmas while the kitchen will stay fall until after Thanksgiving. This year we will have both Thanksgiving and Christmas here. I love to decorate and have my family here. I will do it for as long as I can. I am sure will be able to enjoy your time with James this year!
My mom's birthday is Thanksgiving day. My Granie always made Thanksgiving dinner when she was living, but I do it now. My husband helps. He soked the turkey last year and I think we will do that again, it is easier, doesn't take up my oven and it tastes so good!
We have decorated the outside of our house for Christmas, but the inside is decorated for Thanksgiving. I put the tree up at my mom's house, so she is ready for Christmas. Loved your answers! Have a nice week!

It's so nice to be invited to someone's else home for a holiday meal, at least now and then. I hope you thoroughly enjoy your Thanksgiving and that you won't be too rushed preparing for Christmas.
We are crossing the country for Thanksgiving and will be in Oregon with Son1's family. Since we have not seen them face to face since November 2019, I am beyond excited!
I enjoyed your answers. We have often had Thanksgiving meal on a non-thanksgiving day.
