THE BEST LAID PLANS

We left for Montana to visit Amber, Dylan and their pup Finley on Sunday June 24th. We arrived at their house on Monday evening. For those of you that don't know this already the 13 hour drive the second day worked out great with my lungs. It was a long day but definitely worth it.

Now this is something that only a few people know. We picked up James on Friday night at Jenny's his daycare lady. Adam and Gabby walked to town to have a date night. They are about 8 blocks away from a wonderful downtown street in Orange, CA with so many places to choose from to eat dinner. We had a great time with James.

Saturday morning Adam texted us. Jenny had a positive covid test on Saturday morning meaning we were exposed, James was exposed all week along with Adam and Gabby. What do we do? Do we go to Montana or stay home.

Amber and Dylan wanted us to come. So we headed to Montana as planned. You probably know what is coming next. Mark woke up sick on Thursday morning and tested positive for covid. I was negative and so were Amber and Dylan. He immediately put on a mask. We had plans that day which of course we didn't follow through on. Mark slept in the living/family room area that night. We were able to contact our doctor and he sent a prescription for Mark to the local pharmacy.

On Friday morning Mark tried to get a hotel room in town but due to the fact that the Fair was starting that day there were no rooms available anywhere. We also had plans to go to the Fair that day. Mark made a last minute decision to just head home. So we packed and left a few hours later.

That 13 hour day in the car was not fun with masks on but we did it. When it was my turn to drive I wiped everything down in the drivers seat and of course we sanitized our hands a lot. We stayed in separate rooms at the hotel that night. We definitely needed a break from those masks!

So we arrived home on Saturday afternoon. We didn't get to stop for our favorite pizza that day but we had actually got some on our way there since that first day was the short day. However we did find a treat at a new large gas station that opened up and had a Chicago White Castle hamburgers. They were delicious!!!

So here we are at home and are isolated. I am still testing negative. Mark has another day on his medication and will test again in a few days. He is staying in one of the bedrooms at the front of the house and using that bathroom. I am in our part of the house which is at the back of the house. I have the bedroom, bath area which has our two separated counters and sinks, tub and shower along with my office off of those rooms.

I spend a good amount of time in my office and that is where I watch TV most of the time except for the shows we watch together which can wait until Mark is well again. Just so you know he has a sore throat, is exhausted and if he talks he ends up having coughing fits. Not too much relief from the medication he got.

So this is where our life is at right now. Adam, Gabby and James have not gotten covid either.

Needless to say it was sad that we had to leave early and say goodbye to Amber and Dylan. Hopefully we can reschedule and see them again soon.

Hi Debby, This new version can be very contagious. I came back from Texas with it and it was pretty mild. I am vaxed and so is hubby. I isolated and put meals outside the door. He did not get it. I hope you don't, and your hubby feels better soon.

Oh my goodness, Debby ... I'm SO sorry to hear about this misadventure! Being sick and away from one's own bed and bathroom just sucks. ('scuze) Yet, the two of you PERSEVERED like a winning team. Lifting prayers right now that Mark recovers quickly and you remain safe!

Oh my... what a trip! I hope Mark is feeling better soon and that you don't come down with it. We had just started going without a mask outside and in a few places that were not crowded but there was a spike in our area so it's back to masks again whenever we leave home. Take care...

Oh I am so so very sorry this has happened. I told you Andy came home with it and the three of us did not get it - so there is hope. Will say a prayer. Sorry you had to leave early.

Oh Debby, I'm so sorry to hear this about Mark and you guys having to shorten your trip. It was the right thing to do but exhausting at the same time, as you know since you had to travel again when you barely got there. I think that was the biggest symptom of Covid when my husband had it with the fatigue. He had no energy, stamina, etc and it took a "good" month for him to gain a little of it back. I hope Mark tests negative when he tests and I hope you don't get sick! What do you guys do for food? Take turns in the kitchen and then wipe things down? You guys are in my prayers. Increase your doses of vitamin C and zinc if you take them (but just not together) and make sure you get enough rest yourself, etc. Update us as you can!

Uh-oh. I came to read others' comments and saw where mine had disappeared. Could you please double check the spam file? I hate how Blogger's acting out lately.

Crazy times..so sorry Mark is sick and pray he will test neg. Not fun. We just finished having it too. It took almost one month for our energy level to return. That raspy cough is the pits also.
Praying for all of you. I am glad you got to be with James just a bit too.
