WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE #508

Thank you Joyce.

1. What does productivity look like to you?

Cleaning things out and getting rid of things you don't need anymore. I am no good at that!

Right now with what is going on with Mark I am barely getting my housework done. I am truly exhausted and the road ahead is pretty long.

However I am thankful that Mark is okay and on a road to recovery.

Lesson learned....

2. What was your fondest (or one of your fondest) memory of High School?

My friends are one of my fondest memories. I am still in contact with many of them on Facebook. Since my mom was an alcoholic I have to say that my friends meant the world to me.

The other memories would be some of the concerts we had. We had The Association, 3 Dog Night and the Turtles. Do you remember any of these bands?

3. What did you do the summer after High School?

When high school was over I started working. I actually got my job from a class I took which taught you all about being a secretary. The teacher was friends with a woman who worked for a company called E. L. Essley and she suggested me for the job.

4. June 14th is National Strawberry Shortcake Day...are you a fan, and if so will you celebrate? How do you make yours? Have you been strawberry picking? If so what do you do with all those berries?

I like strawberry shortcake but I don't have it very often. I've been picking strawberries in my yard but have never gone somewhere to pick strawberries. My favorite thing is to eat the strawberries just as they are.

5. What's something you always splurge on?

I personally splurge on purses. Otherwise I would say that we splurge on our Lou Malnati's pizza that we order from Chicago. I guess you can say we splurge on cable which is just way too expensive these days.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I'm looking forward to Father's Day because Adam, Gabby and James are coming over.

Last weekend Adam and Gabby took James to a Bug Day where he touched all kinds of creepy bugs.

Then they went over the Irvine Regional Park and took the train ride, a pony ride for James and then he played with some kids at a playground. They said he had a lot of fun!

The train ride....
A pony ride....

Oh wow, it looks like James is having some wonderful summertime fun already! The pony ride had to be a lot of fun for him...and then, of course, all boys love bugs! LOL. Yes, I remember those music groups you mentioned. I'm a child of the 50's/60's, so any groups in the 60's were what I listened to. How nice that you had a good secretarial course in high school. I did take typing and shorthand, but never used the shorthand and now I've lost it totally. I ended up working as a bookkeeper primarily, and never had any real training for it, so I just had to learn on the job. Thankfully by the time I did that it was all computerized and that made it much easier! I never was a good math student, so it's amazing that I did so well as a bookkeeper! LOL. (again, the computer did all the hard stuff!) I hope Mark is getting stronger and better day by day. Praying for both of you as he heals and you take care of him and all the other stuff he can't do right now. May God continue to give you strength. (((hugs)))

James is losing is toddler/baby face and turning into a handsome boy look. sounds like a fun summer. prayers for healing for Mark and strength for both of you.
After graduating, i worked mornings at my aunts kindergarten while I looked for a job. the jobs like yours, they said I had to be 18, which would happen in sept. I got a job at Aetna Finance as a credit checker the day I turned 18.

You know, I honestly can't remember what I did between high school and college! High school wasn't a particularly happy time, but I do keep in touch with several close friends on FB.
We live a pretty conservative lifestyle, except where groceries are concerned. We do love our steaks!

Friends are very important in difficult times... I am thankful you had friends to give you the support you needed.
Happy Flag Day!!

P.S. thank you for sharing James with us. He is really growing... golly they do grow quickly.

Aww, James is so cute. I'm glad he and the family will be coming to your home for Fathers Day. That will definitely be a pick me up day for you.
I think I continued to work for Western Girls which was a temporary agency opening mail and getting it ready for processing for the Union Oil Company. Just taking a bit of time off before starting at San Francisco State College in the Fall.
Love strawberry anything.
At this point due to finances we don't really splurge on anything but maybe our "WednesDate" at the Donut Shop.
Hang in there and praying for Added Strength for you today.

I can't really remember what productivity looks like. It's been so long since I've seen it :)
Can't really think of any fond memories of high school either.
Love strawberry shortcake but I haven't had it in years. I've never gone to pick strawberries either.
James sure does look like his dad. He's such a little cutie.

Yes, I do remember those bands, Debby! I guess my fondest memories of high school was being a cheerleader. I'm not really in touch with many high school friends, especially since I've been off Facebook. However, our 50th annual reunion is coming up in August, and I've decided to attend. It will be a great opportunity to reconnect, I hope.
Prayers for Mark's healing!

James looks like he is having a great time and so does dad and mom!
You do have a long rode with Mark - but you are right - he made it - and it will all work out.
I have a friend from high school stopping by on her way back from Illinois tomorrow. Since 1968.
Nice job and reference you had after you graduated.

I like seeing things get done and I have a bowl of mixed berries most mornings for breakie, I didn't like high school and was glad to see the end of it, I have a love of stationary even if I don't need it.

Great photos that made me smile

Happy to hear your husband is on that recovery road.
I used to splurge on shoes - decades ago.

Good answers!

Irvine Park is a lot of fun and I hope to get there this summer. We took the grands there during Covid and it was great to enjoy nature. I also like to go to Yorba Regional. I hope all is going well. Enjoy your time with James!

Oh concerts! I forgot about that, but that was something very fun from my high school days as well. I remember the bands you mentioned but never saw any of them. Looks like the summer is off to a fun start for James! Have a great week!

I forgot about the Association concerts and others in high school. Glad your loved ones are coming to your place for Father's Day. Fun pictures of James! Still hoping and praying for Mark's recovery!

I wouldn't mind splurging on pizza either. :D I wish I could have strawberry shortcake more often. And I have the same thoughts about productivity.

I've gotten better at getting rid of things, Probably because my hubby isn't a fan of keeping what's not being used. Loved your photos at the end.
