WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE #511

Thank you Joyce.

1. Is your life simple? Elaborate.

Yes, I do believe with retirement life can be simple but I myself make life seem like a burden. I wish I could just relax and enjoy my life.

2. What simple pleasure are you are currently enjoying?

Trying to appreciate each day as it comes. We are focused on Mark and his physical therapy and the hopes of him being able to drive at some point. He is making progress but the recovery from this injury has to go very slow as not to tear the muscles over the knee.

We go to physical therapy twice a week and then he has exercises to do at home. He has however been able to get into the backyard and work on things out there which he loves.

Sadly, I have been having lung issues for a week now. I'm extremely frustrated.

3. Travel by plane or go on a cruise? walk or ride a bike? swim or ski? ocean or mountains?

I've never been on a cruise so I worry about motion sickness. I guess I will travel by plane.

Well, with my COPD I think I will walk however a bike might be fun. Must be level ground.

I'm going to say swim but I did enjoy skiing years ago.

I want both the ocean and the mountains.

4. What's the last thing you bought online that you really loved?

Seems like we have packages coming daily here. Nothing is coming to mind but I will say that we have really enjoyed watching James play with the little Nerf guns that we bought for him. They stay here at our house to play with when they visit. It's such a delight to watch him have the best of times.

5. What’s your 'back in my day we___' story?

This isn't way far back in the day but we would spend a week each summer, for about 18 years, up in the mountain of Mammoth Lakes, CA and I miss that. We haven't been back in about 15 years and we are missing it so much. We keep talking about going back but are pretty sure that I can no longer be there because of the altitude.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

The view from our cabin in Mammoth Lakes, CA

I would have to say that my life is very simple and a bit boring...lol
That view from your cabin is beautiful.

I'm glad progress is happening. Recovery feels slow I'm sure, but keep on keeping on. I'm sure you'll be happy when you can give up some of the driving. I feel like there are deliveries in my driveway every day too lol. Have a great day!

there is simple and there is simple. simple meaning 24/7 do the same things daily simple. the daily things are no longer simple, as in cleaning floors or bathrooms, a struggle but I can still do it. age has made all the simple things not as simple as they were. the one thing i like is differen/new software on computer to play with... that keeps my happy.
beautiful view and we used to do the vacations but our were Ormond Beach staying right on the beach. that stopped in 2005 when we got Jake and had 3 dogs we could not leave.

That is encouraging that Mark can get out into the backyard and do some things. Rehab through physical therapy is tedious. We have some fond memories of Mammoth. That's where I learned to ski...not that it lasted as a winter sport for us. It's fun to have special toys for James that he gets to enjoy at your place. We do the same thing. Hope your lungs/breathing improve this week!!

I don't know that life is simple, it's just different.
Retirement creates its own set of problems and issues but I am so glad we are in that time of life despite of all the twists and turns along the way.
Simple Pleasure is sitting here right now with a good cup of coffee and reading all my blog friends stories.
Love both modes of travel. Cruises are a lot of fun, seeing new places and not having to pack and repack.
Believe it or not, I love my weeder puller-outer thingy we just got. I don't have to bend over and the dandelions come out great.
Back in the day we would just jump in the car and take off for a day trip or weekend someplace. The car won't do that safely any longer and our wallets are pretty much empty most of the time..Sigh...I really do miss that.

Gosh, Debby. That mountain view almost defies description. Could you, perhaps, buy some of that bottled oxygen I see they sell for hikers? My son and DIL will soon be visiting my hometown in NM (alt. 7320) and I suggested that since Lois has never been there.

What an amazing view that is, Debby! I can see why you all miss going there. When my oldest granddaughter was little and they lived nearby, there were always toys reserved for her at our house. It does make children appreciate them all the more.
Continue to improve, Mark!
Blessings!

Our lives are anything but simple now so it seems. I don't know how to make it simple either.
Your mammoth cave seems like a wonderful place to go.
I bet you get Amazon packages all the time like me.
What kind of lung issues are you having? I am so sorry.

OH my, that cabin view is gorgeous. Wow, I'd sell out and move there. I am so sorry your COPD is acting up. That must be so hard to live with. It's good that your husband is slowly able to do some things he enjoys. Thanks for your prayers for my son. He saw his doctor finally and it looks promising. You take care and I will be praying for you as well.

Wow. That view is stunning. I enjoyed your answers. Hoping your husbands recovery continues to move forward. It's hard when you have to take it slow.

Having special toys at your place is a great idea. James will never forget those memories.
