2. Sherwin William's Color of the Year for 2024 is Upward, described as 'a hint of silver lining', 'a breezy blissful blue' (see sample here). Benjamin Moore's Color of the Year for 2024 is Blue Nova, where 'violet and blue come together in a sumptuous hue'. (see sample here) Valspar's Color of the Year for 2024 is Renew Blue, a balanced blue with a touch of grayed sea -green' (see sample here).
Seems like the design world is keen on the color blue for the new year. Do you have a lot of blue in your home decor currently? What shade? Of the three colors listed which one's your favorite? Do you need to paint? How likely is it you'd select one of these shades for your home? Which one?
I don't have any blue in the house. We don't need to paint at this time. I actually like the Valspar's color Renew Blue, however I would just use it on one wall in the room.
3. Do you struggle with 'the seasonal blues'? What are some things you do to try to beat the blues?
This is my first year struggling with 'the seasonal blues." I was actually going to put that in my random thought today.
You tell me what to do because I am really struggling. I suddenly hate all of my decorations. Going to get rid of a lot of things after Christmas. I have never felt this way before.
4. Blue jeans...love 'em r no? How many pair do you own? Are you married to a particular brand?
I like blue jeans but I don't actually have a real pair of jeans. I have a few pairs of stretch denim pull up jeans with an elastic waist that I love.
5. In terms of holiday preparation (baking, shopping, wrapping, mailing, meal planning, etc) how far along are you? 1=haven't given it a second thought, 10=nothing left to do but wait.
I have some shopping done. Waiting for more suggetions from the kids. I have mailed out my Christmas cards. We were watching the dogs at Adam and Gabby's over the weekend so I worked on those there.
I'm not sure I will be planning a meal at this time. I will do my wrapping closer to Christmas. I don't feel like baking at all but maybe I will try something. My out of town are almost ready to go. Have to print out the postage and hope to mail them on Monday.
I have such a busy schedule in December with doctor's appointments that I'm just feeling overwhelmed at this time. I have 3 just this week. I guess I might be at a 5.
We just put the big tree up. I have to work with the branches still and then start hanging ornaments. Not doing my middle size tree. Got all the batteries in the singing snowmen from Hallmark for James to play with.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
A few pictures of James from their Disney Cruise in San Diego from Wednesday to Sunday.
The window in their room.
FYI: I had trouble with this post. I hope all my words are spelled right because it wasn't telling me that anything was wrong like it usually will. I even put in some misspelled words to test it. Is there a setting for that?

Not sure about spelling corrections in blogger. Maybe it does underline them when typing it...I think it does. Your post must be perfect because I didn't see anything wrong. Not that I'm an expert, but it looks good to me. I love seeing James' smiling face. He's having a great time, I can tell. And that Polar Express train thing will be awesome! Sometimes we go through those holiday blues and nothing seems just right. I fight it every year, especially when it comes to shopping. I hate to shop and often have meltdowns over it, but eventually it all works out and everyone is happy with whatever they get, so why do I worry so? And regarding decorations, etc., I am finding that I want to get rid of a lot of little things that just clutter up my boxes of ornaments, etc., and I think I will do so every year, but I don't. I just use the ones I want and the rest sit there waiting for me to clean them out. Eventually my sons will have to do that! I don't have the heart to throw away things that were probably gifts from people we've long forgotten because we've moved so much. My hubby taught school as well as being a preacher and I worked in schools and churches, so we got lots of little Christmas ornament gifts over the years. Too many for one tree. But, like I said, someone else will have to make those decisions someday. Meanwhile, try to focus on the ones and things that are important to you during this holiday season. Those happy moments with your sweet grandson and family are what makes Christmas extra special. Think on those things and just make happy memories. God bless you and yours. (((Hugs)))
I am with you on the blue jeans, ditto completely. I am also with you on the decorations. the difference is i did nothing but plug in the 18 inch tree, and sit two reindeer on the shelf, that is my entire decoration, it seems i can't make myself care enough to do anything. i have zero on dec calendar but one for bob. just a run in to prick finger and back out. no plans at all for anything. i know you will have fun with James at your house and with all your plans with him. my blogger is putting the red squiggles as I type now. if you use Chrome maybe an update messed it up. signing off as The Grinch
Blue jeans are my go-to apparel pretty much every day, Debby. I'm so sorry to hear that you've got a case of the blues, especially at Christmas time. Sometimes, memories that surface are not all merry and bright. Prayers for you and your beautiful family!
I do believe there are seasons in life, and while all the decorations brought you joy at one point in your life it's okay if they no longer do. It's good to let things go if they aren't working with life the way it is now. The Polar Express sounds like lots of fun! I hope we get to experience that with our grands one day. Have a good day Debby. Take care.
Hi Deb, I am sorry to hear you have the blues. I love Christmas, but it is hard to do all what I want since I have hurt myself. I have some of those singing snowmen, but I have no room to put them up. I did at my last home. My Disney tree is up along with my Nativity tree. I did not put up my Mary's Angels this year. My elbow still bothers me so I decided not to overdo it. Have fun with James and the Polar Express train ride! I hope we can meet in the future!
Yep, I like blue jeans. Mine are like yours though, stretch denim with elastic waist.
Stretch jeans and leggings are some of my Favorite Things. Oh, and gift bags! (I can't decide if decorating the tree or wrapping gifts is my least favorite part of the holiday.)
How strange to look at the calendar and realize, this time next month it will all be over.
I'm loving how y'all are filling James' mind with so many great experiences he'll remember the rest of his life!
The Polar Express is one of my favorites too. :-)
I love that you put out the singing snowmen for James.
I am sending hugs for this busy time of year, I know it can get stressful, and that is not what it should be, but it is, I know for me too.
Thank you for the Birthday card Debby, it was a wonderful surprise for me.
Love You!!! Carla
Well here we are at another day of hogepoge and here are my answers.
Spending time with my siblings on the 23rd is a fun thing I am looking forward to.
Blue was my dad's favourite colour and I think of him when I see that colour.
My house was painted last year so it's all good, blue home décor would be nice.
Seasonal blues isn't something I have ever had a problem with depression and me are old friends, I used to listen to loud music in order to to help cope or I would go for a nice long walk.
I love blue jeans don't wear them at the moment as I don't own any at this moment.
I am about a third ready for Christmas
I seldom notice typos/misspellings, so I wouldn't know if there were any. The main thing is we love reading your posts. I'm sorry about all your health problems and doctors' appointments, that's always enough to bring down our spirits.
I'm glad you'll have some fun with James and your family. Building family memories is one of the most meaningful things we can do in life.
Every word looks good to me. I think the computers have a will of their own.
How nice to take James for a cruise.
I like that renew blue too - wouldn't mind one wall of it.
I am glad you are decorating but cutting down on them a little.
Hope the blues go away.
Hope the blues subside and the joy returns. You are the second hodgepodger who is going to the Polar Express. It will be fun with James. It's fun to see things through the eyes of our grandkids. I've set aside some of our Christmas decor over the years. Some years I put out very little.
Hmmm, I wonder what happened to my comment from yesterday?
Love your precious James and oh my all those Snowmen to play with..Wow,
Gotta have stretchy jeans for this body of mine..
Yesterday I was in the seasonal blues stage..I did absolutely nothing..was pure lazy but a whole lot better today. the weather, financial problems and just trying to get the umpff to get things done can creep up on me..Making myself do stuff today to get back into the better mood.
Sue
