WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE #569

Thank you Joyce.

1. Something that's had you 'chuffed to bits' recently?

I had to look this up....."Someone is very pleased or delighted by something"

Actually I had my bloodwork done on Monday. The results were in my email on Tuesday morning and I didn't want to look at it.  As it turns out I was very pleased. Since my bloodwork always says pre-diabetic my primary doctor decided to do further testing.

I was normal all the way through each section. Also, my bad cholesterol levels have gone down. They are still above normal but I changed my diet back in November and it is working!

2. Tell us about an instance recently where you were tempted to 'throw a wobbly' (expression used to describe tantrums thrown, usually by adults or people who should know better)

This is something I should not have felt but I can't tell you how hurt I was. I'm embarrassed to tell you guys. Sunday was National Grandparents Day and not a word from Adam. They have extremely busy lives and I should never have felt this way.

I was going to say that this day is a new thing but I looked it up and it started in 1978 which means that I never celebrated it with my grandparents. That's Karma for ya!

3. Something everyone seems to love but is not your 'cuppa tea'?

I am drawing a blank on this one. I will go with hot green peppers. We grew peppers this year because Mark like them but they are way to hot for him. This plant is producing better than anything else in the garden.

As it turns out, Gabby's aunt makes salsa with them so we have been able to bring over several bags of them to Gabby and she gives them to her aunt.

4. Fish and chips, bangers and mash, shepherd's pie, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding...which entree would you choose? Yes, you have to choose.

I will go with roast beef but I don't have a clue what Yorkshire pudding tastes like. However, I bet it is pretty good.

5. Something you want for your birthday this year?

Honestly, I want to feel good. I had shots in my back on the right side months ago. I think it was February. They are supposed to last 3 to 4 months. At the time I also had shoulder pain and was set up to have shots in my shoulders. As it turned out the pain in my shoulders went away after the back shot.

The middle of June my back started hurting again. It was pretty extreme and then it started to settle down. Since then it has gotten worse and the shoulder pain in extreme. Saw my primary doctor and he gave me pain medication which helped but now it's not helping at all. I have a referral for pain management but I haven't call there yet.

I also saw my rheumatologist who did the previous shots. I am getting the shots next Thursday, two days before we fly to Houston. Hoping they work. Because of this I would have missed a few weeks of bowling so it is best that I left the league. However, it still is breaking my heart.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

We did see Adam, Gabby and James last Friday and had a nice evening. We brought a watermelon that we thought was ready but sadly it wasn't. However, it did have some great flavor.

On Sunday night, Adam, Gabby and James went to an evening Halloween event at Disneyland. Her sister and family went with them too so James got to be with his cousins.

I asked Adam if James was crying in this next one but he said "no." He was just screaming!

I didn't remember it was Grandparent's Day. I have mixed feelings about it because it feels a bit 'made up' to me. I was actually with my younger daughter's kids so that felt appropriate, but we didn't celebrate in any way. I'm glad you got a good report on your bloodwork!

I hope the shots work before you go to Houston. James looks so happy but he looks that way most of the time, no matter what or where he is. he looks really happy with the watermelon. I saw one blogger that said she did not relate to the questions today so skipped it. the one thing everyone seems to love is these questions. I just can't make myself do them and always come up with a blank answer. I do agree with your answer of the hot peppers. just can't eat them

Such a fun post. I do enjoy most all things British.
This week for me has been wobbly from Sunday on. I've been waiting for the chuffed to bits feeling. I keep coming back to I should pray more and be self-absorbed less. I'm terrible about getting wrapped around the axel over what will probably turn out to be absolutely nothing. *sigh*💙

I wouldn’t take it personal regarding Grandparents day. It’s just another made up holiday to sell stuff. Every day is Grandparents day. If you have a relationship with them, that is a blessing.

I remember reading about Grandparent's Day in the news, but promptly forgot all about it - LOL! Enjoy all the time you can spend with James, et. al., and keep us posted about the pains you are having. Prayers for healing, Debby!

Congratulations on the good blood test results! I don't think my son's family has ever heard of Grandparent's Day. Like others have said, I think it's just a made-up day to sell cards and flowers. Your time spent with James is precious.

I am so pleased that you got good blood results. That is amazing.
I didn't hear anything for grandparents day either. lol
I agree no hot green peppers for me either and I love roast beef and I don't know what Yorkshire Pudding is either.
Well I pray for your birthday wish. I know you have been hurting for a long time.
I want the shots to work too - for your trip.
Lastly that picture of them together was beautiful.
James is soooooooooooooooo cute.

Does everyone even know it is Grandparents Day? I have to admit this is something I am not terribly familiar with....I have heard of it before but have never "celebrated" it!?! I do hope you get your birthday wish....and maybe even before your birthday!!:)

I had no idea it was National Grandparents Day. So that right there tells you that my son and his wife didn't do anything for it.

I'm sorry you are having so much pain. I will pray that the shots will help you and take the pain away. Love the pictures of James at Disneyland.

We never heard of Grandparent's day when our kids were little, or when our grandson was little. I guess I feel blessed if I hear from our grandson at Christmas! That's about it, but of course he is 25 now and not into much about holidays and special days. I really don't think he even knows when our birthdays are, because his mother has never cared about them. When our son was still alive he made sure to remember us on every special day, but since he passed away most communication with his family has stopped unless I initiate it. It does hurt, but I've had to learn to just live with it. Plus, they do live 1500 miles away in Maine, so we really don't have many opportunities to be together. When I see how often you do get to be with your precious Grandson, I think about how blessed you both are...he is blessed to have his grandparents nearby and you are blessed to have him in your life so much. I'm sure that you have a bond that will last forever. I am sorry you are still having so much pain. I pray you will get some relief and help soon. I am dealing with increasing arthritis issues, but so far nothing is being done about it. I am thinking about changing doctors in the new year when we most likely will change our insurance, because the plan we have is too limited on who we can see. But we will see. I hate to look for a new doctor. We don't have a lot of choices around here. So it's one day at a time. I loved the pictures of James at Disneyland. What a fun time for him and his family!! (((hugs))) to you dear friend.

I didn't even remember it was Grandparents Day on Sunday, which is probably good since it's too late now to be upset that no one acknowledged me. LOL I'm so sorry about the ongoing challenges with the pain in your back and shoulders. I hope you are able to find lasting relief soon!

So sorry about your on going challenges with pain. I hope you will get some relief soon. that's so great that your blood work is good news. Sometimes diet makes all the difference in the world.
Darling photos of James and his parents too.
I really didn't even think about Grand parents Day. I think its a made up day to sell cards and goodies.
Take care
Sue
