1. What does it mean to have the 'holiday spirit'? On a scale of 1-10 how is yours this year? (10=off the charts, 1=still looking for it)
Right now mine is not very high because of my health. It is extremely frustrating for me.
2. What's your favorite character from a (December) holiday-themed movie, book, or TV special? Tell us why.
There are so many I like. I love Christmas movies. I'm going to go with Buddy from Elf.
3. Do you like gingerbread? Are gingerbread houses part of your holiday tradition?
Yes I like gingerbread cookies.
So far James and I have done four so far. I like to buy one that is already put together and then we decorate it about a week before Christmas. I still have to buy one for this year.

5. Share a favorite holiday memory from your childhood.
My favorite from childhood is what we did every Christmas Eve. We would go to a Christmas Eve service at church and my dad's parents would stay at the house. When we came home from church there would be presents from Santa.
Then some relatives would come over and it would be a very nice evening. Then Santa left a few gifts on Christmas Day.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
We had a lovely Thanksgiving day at Adam and Gabby's. This was my plate.
Mark set the tree up on Sunday and hopefully I can put ornaments on it this year.

I don't have holiday spirit like I used to. I still love Christmas but living alone takes a lot out of it. Plus it's not the same since my kids have grown.
Your thanksgiving dinner looks delicious.
I'm sure spending time with James will help with the holiday spirit. Children are so excited this time of year and it kind of rubs off on the adults in their lives. Your dinner looks good! I hope you feel better Debby and can decorate your tree as I know you love that. Take care.
I know exactly what you mean about your health messing up your holiday spirit. You've done a fantastic job on the gingerbread houses, and Thanksgiving dinner looks delicious!
I'm praying for you! Your Thanksgiving plate looks delicious & the gingerbread houses look great!
That Thanksgiving plate is making me hungry for Thanksgiving all over again. ;-)
I am praying for you Debby! May you have a good December with your family.
Delicious Thanksgiving plate, Debby! I love the photos of the gingerbread houses that James helped you build through the years. What special memories you made together. I'm praying for you, my friend!
The gingerbread houses are so cute. They are fun to make, but I usually do not include them in our Christmas celebration. Perhaps I should this year. Hoping your Holiday Spirits are lifted... hugs to you
I am not over fond of ginger bread or cookies and have never had a house, maybe because of not being over fond of ginger. not even ginger ale. they are cute, but now that I think about it I don't think I have ever seen one except photos. hope you can get the ornaments on. so far my 18 inch tree is bare of anything but lights. maybe tomorrow
What a pretty dinner plate ... yum!
I love gingerbread, but only tried making one as part of a workplace competition. Unfortunately, I was probably wearing more icing than what appeared on the house. One and done!
I know how much you like Christmas so I hope you can feel well enough to decorate a little. That’s nice that you let James decorate houses. It’s nice to have memories from the past while you create new ones for James. 🎄
You do make ginger bread houses! You know when we lived in Chicago and the family was younger and thriving - Christmas seemed more like Christmas then it does now for me.
I'm not a fan of gingerbread. I think those houses look like fun but I never made one. Such a great project to do with James.
Yumm on that Thanksgiving dinner. Now my tummy is growling ...
My Christmas spirit was way down in the dumps because of some changes in plans (for a future post). Now its ok and my heart is ready for Christmas however it turns out. Having the house pretty much decorated has helped my attitude quite a bit.
(((hugs)))

Those houses are cute! I have made so many gingerbread or Graham cracker houses in my life, from having a daycare business. We did that every Christmas. It's expected because sadly many parents don't want to. I do miss that. I like ginger snap cookies. Our tree will probably be put up tomorrow.
I hope you'll be feeling better soon.
The houses are so sweet, and what wonderful memories and tradition for you and James. I grew up in rural South Louisiana, and even though my dad was the pastor, we didn't have Christmas Eve services. Instead, my dad would play Christmas albums over a loudspeaker for the few people who lived nearby. I think he did it mostly for himself and us, and it makes a great memory.
I like the gingerbread houses. That's a nice tradition. ❤️
PS I'm still praying for your health.
Your gingerbread houses are adorable. And your Thanksgiving plate looks delicious. I like your memories and the way your family did Christmas. It sounds just perfect!
Decorating those gingerbread houses with James is a great tradition. Fun! I do hope you have the energy to decorate your tree this year!
