Yes this is about the life, death and resurrection of my
Poinsettia plant from last Christmas - 2011.

So I go and visit my dad in Florida for 16 days. I leave a note saying....water 1/4 cup twice a week. Come home and it's floating in water. It was overwatered because it wasn't watered the whole time until someone noticed it! Then slowing it lost all of its leaves. I was broken hearted. This was the first Poinsettia that ever lived past Christmas.
So I cut it back and now it is getting new leaves.
***I'm doing the happy dance.***
Can't wait to see it at Christmas.

yeah....so happy it is coming back...that is awesome...
It is surviving! My husband nurtured a massive one for over a year at his job, he switched jobs, asked me to take it home. I forgot about it in our car, it was over 100 degrees outside. I killed it in a day. He was extremely pleased with me. lol
I never thought to keep my poinsettia for so long. I'm glad to hear yours is thriving again. I am going to try it this Christmas and see if I am as lucky as you!
My momma always said, plants know who loves them because they get taken care of and even talked too!
My momma always had vines, wondering jews,aloe,etc growing year round and they was bountiful so she would cut some and give to other's at the nursing home she worked in.She talked to them and I swear those things knew she loved them! After she went to heaven they all died, although me and my sister tried to keep them alive they all died.I'm glad yours is cherished and coming back<3 It's beautiful!
I am sorry it didn't get watered - and took a turn down - but I am thrilled you got to save it when you got home - and that it will be there for Christmas!!!!!!!!!

You have more patience than I do. I fill the house with poinsettias at Christmas and when they get droopy in February, I toss them in he compost bin.
Awesome! I love it when that happens! I had a couple do that this summer.

Debby, I had to laugh a bit, because I've had things like this happen around our house. Something that is so important to me is not noticed while I'm gone until, gasp, it is remembered at the last minute and frantic attempts are made. (As if I would never know). However, your plant will be looking beautiful by Christmas, I'm sure. Afterall, everyone who experiences near-death comes back with renewed resilience. Ann

So glad that it's making a comeback! I remember how disappointed you were wen you came back and saw that it had been neglected. Hope you'll be sure to share pictures of it at Christmastime.
