NBCAM was founded in 1985 as a partnership between the American Cancer Society and the pharmaceutical division of Imperial Chemical Industries (now part of AstraZeneca, maker of several anti-breast cancer drugs). The aim of the NBCAM from the start has been to promote mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer.[1]
In 1993 Evelyn Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of the Estée Lauder Companies founded The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and established the pink ribbon as its symbol, though this was not the first time the ribbon was used to symbolize breast cancer.[2] In the fall of 1991, the Susan G. Komen Foundation had handed out pink ribbons to participants in its New York City race for breast cancer survivors.[3]
I wanted to share what I do each and every day in my effort to help out. Often when I would visit blogs I would see the "click everyday button" and I would click on over. Then one day I noticed under the click to give button a little box that said "Remember to click" or "Get your daily reminder to click" depending on what it says at that moment. So everyday I get an email from The Breast Cancer Site with my reminder to click. It has been a year now since I signed up.

Something else I do every year is watch the "QVC FFANY Shoes on Sale" event. Shoes are donated from designer shoe companies (125,000 shoes) and sold at half price! I also buy something each year. The proceeds from this program go to the research for finding the cure to breast cancer. You should try to watch it.
It is on Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm Eastern time so adjust accordingly for your time zone. You can also watch it online live. So if you don't have a QVC account number you may want to set one up today. The shoes go fast!!!! Believe me you will not be disappointed in this show. University of Michigan received $542,714 from last year’s sale, and $4.2 million total since becoming involved with the event.

Breast cancer has hit a bit too close to home. My mom had it and one of my closest friends from high school is battling it right now. I really despise cancer!
I buy shoes from QVC but I didn't know this, is that this Wednesday.
Thank you for all those ideas of ways to help!
Debby,
Thank you! I didn't know about this and I will join. This time last year two dear friends began their journey to fight against their very different breast cancers. I had the privilege of joining them on this difficult trip through surgeries, chemo, radiation and all that comes with it. I am in awe of their bravery and resilience and their success up to now and the positive future ahead of them both. My MIL is a 15 year survivor and was the first to show me strength, faith and yes, humor, under great duress. I hope, should I ever face something like this, I can follow in their inspiring footsteps and all the others who face this with such courage. Thanks again. Ann
this is great when you get a good deal
on shoes and the proceeds go to a
good cause.
that is awesome Debby..thank you for the information
I have been blessed to not have a family member or friend have breast cancer. I do support the cause and I applause QVC for sponsoring a fundraiser.
thanks for the reminder.
Breast cancer hits way too close to home for my comfort (lost two maternal aunts to this awful disease, and my baby sister is a 13-year survivor). Thanks for the reminders of simple ways that we can help.
Such great ways to help!
