YOU OUGHTA BE IN PICTURES.....

I want to share this important bit of information with you. I saw it over at Anna's blog An Inch of Gray. (I did ask her permission to share this) If you watch the video from NBC NIGHTLY NEWS completely you will see that Anna with her children are pictured in this news report. If nothing else this will show you just how important it is to be in pictures with your children. Better late than never!  Original story here.

So I started looking and I am hard pressed to find pictures with me and my children. Other than our photo from Christmas in 2010 I haven't found one yet. Now I know that there are a few out there that have been taken by others but I don't have them. It's time to change our ways!!!

Since I am on the subject of Anna's blog, do you remember my post last year on Jack's Tree? This tree was decorated in honor of Jack who passed away in September 2011. I had decorated our Norfolk Pine last December at Christmas.

You can read the full story at FOR YOUR TEARS. I just wanted to show you how large the Norfolk Pine has gotten and that the owl tag is still hanging on it 10 months later.

For Jack still hanging in the pine tree.

If you notice in the collage picture this little owl was green.
He has since turned blue!

Look how it has grown.
I bet it has grown 3 ft. this year.
This Norfolk Pine is now called
Jack's Tree at our house!

Also if you have time tonight please light a candle at 7pm
in Remembrance of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day.

I loved her post and reminder. I know I'm not in them nearly as much as everyone else, but I try to get at least one with each of the kids every time they're here.

I do think it is so important for us mamas to be in pictures. I know I cherish pictures of my mama. We are usually the ones taking the pictures and I think that maybe that's why we aren't in them! Thanks for the timely reminder!

I'm guilty of not being in front of the camera, Debby, but I did see this post of Anna's and it is a good reminder for me to change my ways so I'm going to make more of a conscious effort to be in pictures and just not take them. Thanks again for the reminder!

I don't do a lot of pictures with me in them either, but I made sure there were a couple from our Disney trip this year. I'm trying to do it a little more often.

I saw that special news report, and I revisit Anna's blog often. I'll need to recheck my pictures for ones with me in them! I usually take them.

This is just dear. Yes, you are right about all being in the same picture. We have precious few, almost always set up in the same spot, where we can rest the camera on a shelf, click photo delay and run to get in place! This makes me smile.

Thanks for stopping by to visit Marmelade Gypsy! And I do love those ornaments!

I'm always behind the camera, not good.

Hi Debby, I just came back from reading that post and how true it is! I tended to be the picture taker because I just hated the way I come out in pictures. One vacation we came back and as I was flipping through the images...it was as if I wasn't even on the trip!!!! I was so sad about it. I am trying to change that and every vacation, special occasion thta we take pictures I try to take them with the kids too...fat or no fat.
Great post!
Blessings, Joanne

I've been giving this a lot of thought lately. I'm going to have to make a real effort to get in the picture with my girls. I'm so bad at it!

I loved her post on being in pictures. I'm more reluctant now but I still get in a few here and there. . Motherhood ( and middle age for that matter) are not all glamour are they : )

I scrapbook a lot and realize the importance of family photos. Trying to get everyone to sit down for the picture is a whole 'nother story. :)

I so need to get better about being in pictures. I tend to be the one shooting them.

You have a beautiful family - I think that is the same year that we took our last one. This November I have to change that! I will have to check Anna out.

I used to be in more pictures with the kids when I was married, but now I'm the one behind the camera most of the time. But I hadn't thought about the after I'm gone aspect.

Anna's story made me cry. My brother drowned when he was 23, but I can't imagine how much greater a loss when it is your own child. That's my biggest fear.

Nice picture of your family. And that is amazing how much the tree has grown. You must be taking very good care of it!

That's a great family photo. I'm not in a lot of old family pictures either. Finally, we bought a tripod, and make it a point to get everyone in the photo at least twice a year.

Your Norfolk Pine is beautiful. I wish they would grow outside here.

Debby, thanks for this reminder! And it applies to dads too. I also visited the blog you mentioned and am so touched by what I have read over there. Such strength in the face of tragedy. Today you made me feel very, very grateful. Ann

I have always been the one behind the lens and not in front. I have been "trying" to make a conscious effort to be in more pictures with my family and friends.

Great reminder, Debby!

Blessings~

BTW, your photo is WONDERFUL! :D
