Joyce's Wednesday Hodgepodge
1. This week's Hodgepodge is Volume 123. What's something you've done recently that was as easy as 1-2-3?
Nothing is coming to mind. Trying to coordinate a sort of family reunion has been a bit of a nightmare but buying some tickets to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park was simple through LivingSocial. We decided since we had so much fun at the Zoo we will do the Safari Park next! It was a half price deal and most likely we will spend some time in Carlsbad too.

2. The Wednesday Hodgepodge also happens to fall on the first day of May ...what is something you may do this month?
We will celebrate Amber's 32 birthday and I am assuming we will go out to eat for Mother's Day. To end the month with a bang I will be going to Vegas for three nights leaving on May 31st.
3. The Englishman Horace Walpole is credited as saying, "The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think" How do you see it?
The world can feel like a tragedy when you have a caring heart but I don't see why it would be a comedy to those we think.
4. May is National Hamburger Month...how often do you eat a burger? What are your must-haves when it comes to burgers? I assume you vegetarians won't be celebrating so tell us what you'd like instead?
At the very most it would be once. We don't eat a lot of red meat except when we go out. I do love the Gourmet Burger at Red Robin. I must have cheese on my burger at home but if I am at Red Robin I will get all the trimmings. We also have a very good Vegetarian Chipotle Black Bean burger that we buy at Costco.
5. Pansies, petunias, geraniums, impatiens...of the four mentioned, which is your favorite in a patio pot? Will there be pots on your patio this spring? (Or whenever spring comes to your part of the globe?) Who does the gardening at your house?
Hands down it's geraniums and I am lucky enough to enjoy their beauty all year long. We have a few pots on our patios. Mark does most of the trimming and we normally have flowers that bloom all year. We have 4 separate patios with flowers and ground cover growing between them, along with stepping stones. We have a gardener who cuts our front lawn each week.
6. When did you last (literally or figuratively) shout "Mayday, Mayday!"
I don't ever remember shouting that at anytime in my life.

7. Say farewell to your April in ten words or less.

It's back!!! ALL MY CHILDREN is now on Hulu and I enjoyed watching it on Monday. It felt like forever since it went off the air in September 23, 2011. I started watching it around 1974 but the show actually started on January 5th in 1970. Not sure if I will enjoy the racier scenes that would not have been allowed on ABC. It is free on Hulu if you stream it through your computer.

I haven't watched All My Children since I was in college. I imagine a lot has happened since then : ) Enjoy your May...sounds like you have some fun things coming up!
i totally forgot today is May 1 and May day. i love impatiens, never say mayday, have never seen all my children, and the only thing i can think of easy as 1 2 3 is blogging since that is what i do a lot of... unless we count putting toast in the toaster... LOL... happy May and good bye to April...
I'm not a soap opera fan... but it was sad to see that era die off... glad to see it rekindled
Hulu is amazing.
Glad you'll be able to watch some favorites.
End of April..... Amen! I am so ready for some warm weather.
We had burgers a couple times last week! Having beef cattle it's hard not to have burgers when the weather gets nice! ;-)
I have not watched that soap since High school....that has been a long time. I have been hearing about HULU but have not tried it yet...will have too.
May sounds like a a lot to look forward to. Haven't been to Red Robin forever.....yumm might need to have a burger for dinner...thanks Joyce! Have a wonderful May day !
Thanks for the reminder that today is May Day!! I think May Day has gotten lost in the hype over Cinco de Mayo.

I enjoyed your zoo pictures on the previous post!
I love geraniums, too.
So, is this a modern version of All My Children? I never watched it; I watched the CBS shows, though.
yeah I'm not sure on the comedy to those who think. Maybe over my head.
I'm not a soap opera fan, but I think it is great that they brought soaps back for those who enjoy. I know my girlfriend will be super excited.
I was just thinking about May Day on the way in to work this morning because of something said on the radio. I was wondering if anybody else remembered the May Pole.
I just saw that about All My Children somewhere else today. How sad is it that I didn't even know it wasn't on any more? There aren't many soaps at all still on are there?
Love that picture of the AMC cast! They look so elegant! I've wondered if that black bean burger from Costco was any good - hmmmmm, must try it. We are having hamburgers on the grill tonight coincidentally.
You have a busy/fun May ahead of you. By the end you will be ready for that Vegas trip!
I love your new look for your blog! Ann
So funny about mayday! Mayday!!! :). I don't think I have ever yelled it either :). Red robin...yum! I'll eat a hamburger anywhere if if is covered in fried onions!!!
I think old Horace was just quoting hoping he'd appear on an online meme some day in the future. He didn't even know what he meant. ;)
Last year I watched the whole Buffy The Vampire Slayer series on Amazon. This year I'm watching Start Trek The Next Generation, although Monday I watched Agony and Ecstasy. Amazon Prime has some nice perks! :D
My grandmother always had geraniums and they remind me of her.
I watched All my children back in the early 80's. It was the only thing on TV while the children napped. Once they woke up it was back to their programs.
Thank you so much for your comments on my blog, especially the "let me take your worry", what a lovely thing to say.
I love the little dog on your side bar, so sweet.
I haven't seen All My Children in years. It and General Hospital were always my favorites when I did watch them. I worked retail for 10 years and worked with a guy that always took his lunch break during All My Children, he was so funny when he watched it, he was so into the show that he never knew if anyone in the room spoke to him. It was fun just to watch him watching the show!
Ha, I don't think I've ever said MAYDAY MAYDAY either.
I too wonder if anyone does the May Day with the pole anymore. I remember doing that as a kid. Looks like you have some fun things coming up! I love HULU! Amazing what we enjoy these days!
until next time...nel
Blessings to you Debby.
Sounds like you are going to be busy this month-Enjoy! and if you have time-eat a hamburger--LOL!
I like all four of those flowers and usually have all four in the summer. But impatiens are probably my favorite of those.
I think the world is tragic and comical and deeply amazing - and I'm pretty sure I both think AND feel.
I thought some the questions were hard this week. I say Mayday at night when I pray. I like inpatients. I like hamburgers. Know you love to celebrate Amber's birthday in April. sandie
I'm jealous you can enjoy flowers all year round! I need to watch some of the new All My Childrens. I grew up watching it so I'm interested to see this new version.
mmm...i love homemade burgers.
now i am hungry!
have a great month of may dear debby!
blessings
big hugs~
I love being able to stream entertainment.
