Friday I pushed myself out of the house and went to see a movie. I saw The Big Wedding and enjoyed it. It wasn't the best movie I have ever seen but I did enjoy all the people who were in it and by the end of the movie I was happy with how everything turned out. Then I went to Trader Joe's and bought a few things for the weekend. I just love walking around that store! Mark & I had our Friday night pizza and then we got caught up with Glee and Person of Interest.
Saturday I got up and finished washing the floors which was a project I worked on for 4 hours on Thursday. We have a lot of tile. First I vacuumed the floors, then I vacuumed the moldings and then I used my Hoover FloorMate Spin Scrub Hard Floor Cleaner machine. Sometimes it leaves swirl marks so I also used my mop to smooth it out. I had the kitchen to finish and it felt good to get it done.
I also put some chicken in the Crock Pot for dinner. I had picked up some low carb tortillas so the Salsa Chicken from A Year of Slow Cooking is one of my favorites for a soft taco. I shred the chicken when it is fully cooked and put it back into the Crock Pot for a little while longer. Yum! Then we watched The Impossible - The story of a tourist family in Thailand caught in the destruction and chaotic aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. It was excellent!
Sunday we went to Red Robin for lunch which is always a treat. Then we headed over to Home Depot to hopefully find a few things we were looking for. She the picture below of our Ficus in the old pickle crock. That belonged to my husbands grandmother. Well it was planted into the crock over six years ago and it's time to replant it. I'm afraid that it might crack the pot at some point. It is definitely root bound.
I've been wanting to do a container lemon tree for sometime now so this crock will now go into the back yard to hold my new dwarf lemon tree. I'm really excited. We found a lovely pot for the ficus along with a new wheeled stand for the corner by the front door. We also found some other very interesting plants for the yard. Something we have never seen before which I will share some pictures of after they get planted. We had drizzle yesterday and rain today so hopefully it will be nice again next weekend so we can get these projects done!
Then for some reason, not too long after we returned home yesterday, I got all achy and chilled so I curled up in bed with my new personal DVD player and watched a movie. I have been wanting a DVD player for trips so I've been testing it out. It's really perfect for my needs and I ended up getting it for free. I shop on Amazon all the time and especially at Christmas. For some reason when I went to buy this DVD player they asked me if I wanted to get their credit card. It's a rewards card that gives you three points for your purchases on Amazon which I thought was a great deal. Also if I signed up I got a $60. gift cards to use. So that's how I got my personal DVD player for free.
So even though I am working on my "Less is More" clean-up project, today is going to be a day of rest for me! Hope you all have a wonderful week.

I abhor cleaning the floors!
Love that plant stand! Was the ficus blooming? I didn't realize they did that! (Of course mine doesn't...it's plastic!)
Score on the dvd player!
Sounds like a really fun weekend.
Ugh I really need to do my floors. Our flooring hasn't been refinished yet, so the hardwood looks awful all the time, even after being cleaned. Can't wait for them to be done some year lol. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, and YAY on the free player. Hope you are feeling better!
cool on the free DVD player, i did not even know there is a personal DVD player, now i know. yum on red robin
floor cleaning...no fun....but you sure feel better after it is finished...
Eeek - floor cleaning... don't get me started.
I hope your aches subside.
Wishing you a lovely week!
xoxo
Oh my goodness - you were such a busy girl!!!
Cleaning floors. Seeing movies - I wanted to see that one, but we went to Iron Man 3 and it was way to violent for me.
I would LOVE a lemon tree.
Congrats on the new DVD.
And are you feeling better? I hope so.
Love, sandie
You deserve a day of rest after cleaning all of those floors!
The fact that your personal DVD player was free makes it that much more enjoyable :) Enjoy those movies!
My wood floors need to be done, but we just had a painter here for a week so it's on my list for this week. ugh. I might procrastinate : ) We have one of those little DVD players-it's great!
Hi Debby, I so want to see The Big Wedding-there are so many good stars in it and it looks funny. When I was back in northern Ca. a few weeks ago, I went into Trader Joe's-boy do we miss them here in Colorado-but one is supposed to come to Denver this year(that is a long way to drive for one store, if we aren't down there). We also watch Person of Interest-quite a plot this last week, not sure where it is going?
I also miss many of the fruit/citrus trees we could have in a mild climate. I'm hoping to get a Mock Orange bush here this summer.
Hope you are feeling better.
Hugs, Noreen
Busy lady! Our portable DVD player gets lots of use by our grands...in the car and sometimes just in another room while the adults are watching a ball game or anything they are not interested in. It is a great thing to have around!! Glad you are enjoying yours!!
I sometimes watch movies (streamed from Netflix) on my iPad. Very handy!
I like ficus trees. It does look like that one needs a little room to spread its roots!
Oh, don't you just love Amazon! I seem to order from them weekly.
Sounds like you are making progress in your cleaning and less is more project. Good for you!
And, thanks for the "heads up" on the "no reply" blogger. I couldn't figure it out but my blog designer got it all fixed up for me.
Happy week!
Debby, I am making that chicken tomorrow! The Maven and I are heading into the city to take our son's dog back and take DIL to lunch for her bday, so this will be the perfect thing for dinner!
The Impossible was incredible wasn't it? An amazing story of survival and perseverence.
I'm going to check out that Amazon deal. I use them a good bit and would like to rack up some reward points! I use my Kindle to watch TV shows and movies sometimes. It's nice to plug in the headsets and have a personal viewing experience, I find. Watching Scandal on it now since I never saw it the first season.
Don't work too hard! Ann
What a nice surprise, a free DVD player! I love Amazon.
Have fun with your planting. I love this time of year.
I just joined Red Robin's rewards club and learned they give you a free burger on your birthday month! Can't wait to get that this month! =)
I've been wondering if that movie was any good......so thanks!
Congratulations on getting the floor done.....I know what a big job that is and it is also very tedious.
I love having anything that has been in the family and that crock is great! I'm not a fan of repotting so I put it off and I also don't have many potted plants! :)
what a great idea, taking a small DVD player to bed and watching a movie. that looks like fun and so glad you enjoyed.
I was wondering about that movie. I love that tree!
I hope ur feeling better! That really is one heck of a deal!
Good for you! You've been busy!! I got a free car seat from Amazon, by doing the same thing. I use my amazon card for everything I purchase there and the points add up pretty quickly. I love it when I check out and I get a few bucks off my purchase because of the points. Love your old crock; good luck getting the tree out!!
Love your new background.
Finishing a big project like cleaning floors really gives a good feeling, doesn't it?
Way to go on the free DVD player!
We rented "The Impossible" about a week or so ago...LOVED IT! One of the best movies I've seen in a long time! Isn't it remarkable that the entire family survived the tsunami and were able to find each other, again? What a story!
I have been finishing up my Spring cleaning too. Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Praying you are up and about soon. Thank you for the tip on this movie ..think I will go rent it this week! Big hugs!
Duuuude, if I had my Oma's pickle crock, I would be making pickled veg in it, not ficuses!
You are one busy lady, floors are a big job. I long for a lemon tree too - will save me stealing them from my neighbours tree!
I LOVE Amazon!!! I feel like I buy almost everything on there now!!! <3 Sounds like you had a busy day!

Wow. What a find!
Any day that has TJ's AND a movie in it, has to be wonderful!
I can't wait to see your new pots and plants! What a fun shopping trip! I'm sorry you didn't feel good afterwards though :-(
That is definitely an awesome find to get free! Those are great for long trips...especially with kids! ;-)
