As you can see we are a pretty casual family and we like it that way. I was excited for Easter this year. I'll admit that I don't always feel that way about Holiday's anymore. I'm at a point in my life where I would like to go out to eat on these special days but this year was different. Why you ask?
Well Adam and Tristen will be moving to Pittsburgh by the end of this year so this Easter had to be one of our best. My goodness I just started crying typing that sentence. I never had a problem with having an empty nest but this is different. It's not like I can get in the car and see them in an hour. This is hard, really hard but I am thrilled for them and all I ever want in life is for my children to be happy.
So just like Christmas I wanted to go all out and make it the best ever. I treat every Christmas as if it was my last so I never have any regrets. I have those same memories from my childhood when to comes to Christmas. My parents made it amazing each and every year!
Still love my china which is 42 years old!
Our menu was Prime Rib, Mashed Potatoes, Sauteed Mushrooms, Corn, Green Bean Casserole, Watergate Salad, Home Made Heavenly Rolls, Olives, Veggie Tray for Snacking, Plantation Pound Cake, Fresh made Whipped Cream and Homemade Strawberry Popsicles. I only took pictures of the rolls when I was making them.
Mark even bought me an Easter Lily. I was telling him how my dad always sent money each year to my aunt so she could buy one for me. She has been gone for six years and I missed having a lily in the house so he ran out and bought me one. He also cooked the Prime Rib, washed/sliced the mushrooms and peeled the potatoes. Amber cleaned up the kitchen after dinner and I appreciated both of them helping out.
I do have to laugh about the Plantation pound cake. First of all it is absolutely delicious but it did not want to come out of my bundt pan which was crazy. I use my bundt pan all the time and I greased/floured it as suggested. So we had Plantation Pound Cake pieces!
You can never go wrong making a celebration the best ever......it was a perfect day!!!!

a perfect day, a beautiful table and family... i like that last family portrait and it will keep your Easter dinner in the memory for years go come.
sounds like a wonderful day! you certainly planned a great meal...glad you had some help!!
Well I can identify with you considering my only daughter lives 1000 miles away from us. It has been almost 6 years and while I have adjusted, it is STILL hard. It helps sooo much to have facebook, facetime. I-phones etc. We talk almost daily and shoot little pictures and texts back and forth to each other all the time. Sometimes I mark time by counting the weeks, or months between visits. But I am here as proof that you DO adjust! The dinner sounds wonderful and the memory will always be there to linger over. Great picture! Oh, and btw, I am kind of the same way about Christmas. Can't seem to stop myself from going all out so that the memories are always good ones. Some of my best growing up. Have a good week-end!
pound cake pieces still sounds pretty good. :) i know you will miss them, but good for them that they are finding their own life, too. :)
Hi Debby! Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos! It's so nice to meet your beautiful family.
I can relate to your tears. Both of my children live in other states, and so my three grandchildren are far away too. I guess I've gotten used to it, but I wish they were closer.
Good for you! I love pound cake pieces :)
Blessings,
Ceil
Loved the pictures, Debby! So true it will be different when Adam and Tristan move away; but then another place to visit!
Your menu sounded perfect, except for the uncooperative cake, LOL :)
Glad it was a nice day for all!
betty
Glad you had a wonderful Easter and I love your family photos!
A lovely family, a lovely time! I'm so glad that you had the chance to spend this special day together.
I was also blessed to have my mom with us - it was her first visit to our mountains! So far, my family is only 2 hours away, but that may change someday for job requirements. I don't look forward to that day...so I can understand your feelings. But, it looks like your dear family will stay close no matter how many miles come!!
GOD BLESS!
Sounds like a memory maker! I love how you approach holidays enjoy them like they could be your last. Meal sounds delish! Have a wonderful weekend!
I'm sorry they will be so far. But it's nice you had such a fantastic celebration!
That china is gorgeous and oh my goodness that menu sounds terrific. I would have had a very full plate! Family get togethers are very special for sure. We are very casual around each other as well.
Sounds like a nice celebration. Your lily is pretty.
Thanks for sharing about your Easter. It sounds like it was a great one. I love that Mark bought you an Easter lily and helped with the meal :) The family picture turned out great, too!
I feel your pain about having your loved ones move away! I still miss Brad, and he's only an hour away...

It's really hard for me, adjusting to my newly empty nest! Family is the BEST!
Hi Debby, What a wonderful memory you've made with your family! My oh my, all that food-I should take lessons from you in menu planning.
Everything looks fabulous; I'm wondering what is in a Watergate salad?
Hope you have a great weekend and lots of future trips to see the kids.
Hugs & Love,
Noreen

I'm glad you had such a nice Easter with your family!
Love the pic Debby. We did the 5pm service on Easter with our son then ate out. A benefit of being old. :)
Such a nice Easter with your family. Lovely dishes.
What a beautiful family you have - and I do understand why you would want to make a wonderful dinner for them. It is hard when a child leaves - have had that happen once. Sorry and hugs.
