Last week I went to see two movies that normally would not be on my list of movies to see. I use the term Epic but I'm not sure if that is how they are catagorized. I think that seeing and loving The Hunger Games has given an interest in these type of movies.
I saw Noah (IMDb) on Thursday and it took me a little while to get into it but I have to say that I liked this movie. I came out of the theater happy that I saw it. I have heard conflicting reports that it follows the Bible and that it doesn't! So when I came home I read a few things about the story of Noah.
One was Facts on Noah's Ark from Christian Information Ministries just to refresh my memory and the other was an article I find that was written by Josh Dickey. I had a question about something and he pretty much answered it for me. If you haven't seen the movie I would not go to Josh's article because it will give something away that you may not want to see if you plan on seeing the movie.
Not to keep you in the dark.....he said that he believes some of the things in the movie may have come from the Book of Enoch which is an ancient Jewish religious text and not included in our Bible.
"A man is chosen by God to undertake a momentous mission of rescue before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world."
On Saturday Mark and I went to see Divergent (IMDb). So many people I know have said that it was awesome so I felt I had to see what it was about. It was very interesting and I liked it a lot. Mark thought it was just okay. Divergent is a three book series and I will definitely go see more movies if they make them.
Hunger Games still holds a special place in my heart but I have to say that I enjoyed the main characters in this movie and definitely look forward to seeing them again. (Katniss and Tris rock!)
"In a world divided by factions based on virtues, Tris learns she's Divergent and won't fit in. When she discovers a plot to destroy Divergents, Tris and the mysterious Four must find out what makes Divergents dangerous before it's too late."

I too planning to go to the movie NOAH!
As usual, I haven't seen either of these!
you already know i will be waiting for Noah to come on the premium channels. but not the other one...
I have seen the advertisements on both these movies. We never go to movies/theaters, but will probably get the DVD someday.
I have heard a lot of mixed reviews on Noah!
One film critic I really like described Noah as being "Bible-ish" in that it takes so much creative license. Hubby and I will wait and spend a buck seeing it when it comes to Redbox, haha!
I have read Divergent and loved the book! I was very happy when we went to the movie and I loved it too! Even better, Hubby Man did not read the book, but he really enjoyed Divergent!
I too am a huge fan of Hunger Games!
glad you enjoyed both!
I didn't realize Divergent was from a book series; the previews did look interesting. I liked the first Hunger Games, haven't seen the second, but will soon. I have mixed feelings about seeing Noah when it comes out to Redbox; I think I will check out those links though since more than likely I won't be seeing the movie any time soon.
have a good day Debby!

Glad you enjoyed your movie time :) I've heard lots of negative publicity concerning 'Noah'.
Glad you enjoyed them. I listened to the audio version of the Divergent Series. It was pretty good, but I did not care of the ending of Book 3, so I probably won't see the movie. I don't want to give anything away, so I won't say more here.
Helpful reviews. I have read all of the Hunger Game books, and seen the first movie. And yes, I am also a fan. My husband actually wants to see Noah - so maybe we'll try to see it next time we're down the hill.
And, the Divergent series of books is on my wishlist.
I love books with strong characters, don't you?!
I have wondered about seeing Noah and Divergent. The previews look good, but I've heard a lot of negative feedback about Noah. Now I will go see it.
Happy Monday!
I've been hearing good things about Noah.
I wouldn't mind seeing 'Noah,' although these 'Bible' flicks never are really very true to Scripture. And for me, it's kinda hard to see Russell Crowe as Noah. LOL Thanks for the reviews!
You are braver than I! :) I just can't get into Divergent - no matter how many people tell me the books are wonderful. Maybe I should try to movie instead.
We recently saw "Saving Mr. Banks>" I loved it. Much more my speed.
Hi Debby, I don't know if I told you or not but my hubby said he'd go see Noah-which surprised me. Not sure if we'll get to it before vacation and our move, but if not we will see it when it is out at the stores.
I am not into Hunger Games-saw the first one but really have no desire to see the newest one. Haven't heard about the third movie you mentioned; I hope we get a movie on the plane to the islands.
Have a great evening.

I haven't seen Noah. I've heard mixed reviews so I'm glad to know you liked it. My mom and I went to see Gods Not Dead and we both thought it was really well done. I read Divergent, but haven't seen the movie. My girls both saw it and liked it. I enjoyed the book a lot
Saw Noah, too. Actors did a fine job,the animals entering the ark was impressive, but I was disappointed that it strayed so far from the biblical account.
I really want to see Noah! I saw the preview for it almost half a year ago and have been longing to see it. It looks epic. I want to see it in the theatre too... I don't think a small screen will do it justice.
Thanks for sharing.

we were just talking about Noah in my women's group last week. Glad you enjoyed it :).
Hi Debby! Like you, I have heard good and bad about Noah. My daughter saw it this weekend and loved it. One of my blogger-friends said that her pastor thought it was "lame". Interesting, isn't it?
I don't do well with movies like Divergent, but I'm happy you liked it. (I didn't see any of the Hunger Games ones either.) The author is from my neck of the woods, so it's nice to see a homegirl do well :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about these Debby. Will probably catch these on DVD.
