WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Volume 185
Have you joined in on Joyce's questions today?
Click on over and play along.

1. What would you say is the key to success?
The first thing that came to mind was determination, then I saw this quote and thought it was pretty good!
2. Have you ever been to the Florida Keys? Any desire to visit that part of the US of A?
No I haven't been but I think it would be fun to go.

3. When and where did you last see a real live donkey? Monkey? Turkey?
I think I saw a donkey on our drive up to Mammoth Lakes this summer. Monkey would have been at the San Diego Zoo last year. I had seen a live turkey at Disneyland a couple of years ago.

4. An old Portuguese proverb says, 'Beware of the door with too many keys.'What do you think this means? Share an example of how this has proven true or false in your own life.
Haven't got a clue but read this by a man named Chris Russell and thought it was pretty good!

"While listening to an audio book this morning, I heard the author quote an old Portuguese proverb: “Beware of the door with too many keys.” He was applying the proverb to a different subject, but it brought my mind to the simplicity of Christianity. I am thankful that there are not “too many keys” to our faith. The message of Christianity is very simple: “The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)
5. Besides your home, vehicle, and special jewelry, what is something you keep under lock and key?
We have a safe where Mark keeps his guns. He does target shooting and belongs to a club.
6. When did you last get keyed up about something?
Actually at this very moment I am excited about seeing Adam and Tristen this Sunday. We haven't seen them since they got engaged. We are going to visit the Getty Villa and have a celebration dinner with them.
Actually Mark and I were keyed up about a really nice price increase in our home recently. When you put down a large down payment expecting it to grow in value but then the market crashes and it is technically gone it is nice to see it going up, especially with retirement in the future!

7. Who thinks we need an easy one right about now?  Key lime pie...yes please or no thank you?
Yes please!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Thought you guys might enjoy this. This was Mark's dinner last night, he is in Ohio this week. Every once in a while he sends me a picture because he thinks it's funny how I take pictures when we are out. So he is actually making fun of me. Here is what he had to say last night:

"The burdens of a salesman's life on the road. Another fancy dinner with customers.  I have found that taking a picture of my meal and explaining your posting every meal picture is good for a laugh when I say I am sharing with my wife. Although someone always says their wife does the same thing. Thanks for the material."
I do have to tell you something funny that happened a few months ago. He sent me a picture of an Italian Beef sandwich he had while out of town only he didn't send it to me. One of his co-workers email address is right above mine in his listing and he ended up sending it to him. We really had a good laugh with that one and I know he was embarrassed!

You ought to go to Key West after a trip to visit your dad ... you're already in Florida. ;-)

And I wonder what the coworker thought when receiving the food pic? LOL That's exciting news that your home went up in value. We need to have ours appraised again soon, with hopes that ours is going back up, as we hope to sell soon.

The email slip-up is very funny!

Glad your home's value has increased, and hope you have a splendiferous celebration dinner with your son and his fiancee! =)

Debby...Chris does the same thing to me when he's out eating at fancy restaurants with customers. Of course, he just wants me to be jealous of his fine dining. :)

That's great news about the value of your home increasing :) I hope you enjoy your visit with Adam and Tristen, too!

Your answer to #1 is the best I've read. What a great quote!

Enjoy the celebration with Adam and Tristen.

Hi,, I think #4 was tricky for most of us. I too would like to visit Florida, haven't been to that part of the USA at all.
I don't think anyone passed on Key lime pie. :)

We are keeping track of the housing market, too. Ours tumbled, along with everyone's, and is thankfully starting to climb up in value again. Next time you are in Florida, we need to see if we can work in a visit and meet in person. I do love meeting my blogging friends in person!

Have fun celebrating Adam and Tristen's engagement! Love key lime pie. Have a great weekend!

His meal looked delicious! One time hubby took a picture of a piece of wedding cake at a wedding he was working at to show me that he brought me home "a piece of cake" because I always ask him if he's going to a wedding, to bring me home cake. I bet you are so very excited to celebrate the engagement! And it is good to hear homes are getting back their value; a good sign with the economy hopefully!

Too funny about the food pix. Guns make me nervous. The man has a few but they are antiques that he got from his granddad that belonged to his dad. They're just for looks. But there is a funny/scary story about one in particular. I'll have to post about it one day.

I do think you have to do what you love - it makes it so much easier and much more wonderful.

#6....I think that is on a lot of peoples minds. Hope it continues to raise in value. Y'never know.

That last ditty where the email was sent to the wrong recipient made me laugh. Only, 'cause I've done the very same.

That is funny, Debby. John sends me food pics too, especially now that I have a prolonged stay in FL. Yes,w e are so happy that Rea is doing so well. She slept most of yesterday after her major surgery but today, she is already smiling and watching TV. Yes, we have to continue praying for other kids. I know what they are going through and it is not easy...Christine

I love your take on #4!! And enjoyed the Hodgepodge. :-)

Don;t think my hubby would ever think to take a picture of a plate of food for me, but he does try to help me take good ones when he is with me!

Hi Debby,

I agree if you love what you do you are successful.
When I was younger I wanted to go to the Keys. I have heard they're not like they used to be. Not sure what that means.
It has been ages since I last saw a monkey, turkey or donkey. I guess the last time was when we went to the zoo 13 years ago.
I do like Key lime pie, but have to be careful with my diabetes.

Have a great weekend!

I've always wanted to go to the Keys.
I saw tons of donkeys in Custer park. How funny that your husband sent a pic of his dinner.
I did that too when we were in Deadwood. Todd is getting used to it.

The thought that sprang to mind about the door with too many keys was that then too many people would have access to you.

I think my hubs is used to it now : ) When we were on vacation last week I started eating and he said, 'Wait aren't you going to take a picture of that?' Hope the engagement dinner was joyous!
