On Monday October 27th I went to see The Best of Me which is a Nicholas Sparks movie. I have not read the book. I thought this movie was very good and I am definitely a fan of James Marsden's. This movie surprised me compared to other Nicholas Sparks movies. Not quite the ending I expected!
"A pair of former high school sweethearts reunite after many years when they return to visit their small hometown."
On Tuesday October 28th I went to see St. Vincent which I really liked. I am a huge fan of Bill Murray's so I wasn't going to miss this one. This was a down to earth movie which was very moving and it also brought me to tears.
"A young boy whose parents have just divorced finds an unlikely friend and mentor in the misanthropic, bawdy, hedonistic war veteran who lives next door."
That same day I went to see Fury in the evening with Mark. I thought this movie was excellent. I am not a fan of war but this movie was done very well. I liked the way it followed the men who were in one tank.
"April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank and his five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Out-numbered, out-gunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany."
The next day Mark and I went to see John Wick with Keanu Reeves. This movie was a blood bath but I have to admit I liked it. Lot's of action going on in this movie.
"An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him."
I wasn't sure what to expect when we went to see Interstellar but we really liked it. It does take place in the future and the space travel was mind blowing to me. Definitely worth seeing! It is a long movie so be prepared if you go to the show to see it!
"A team of explorers travel through a wormhole in an attempt to find a potentially habitable planet that will sustain humanity."
What can I say about Birdman??? Mark and I went to see this one last Wednesday evening and I have to say that we both liked it. Excellent cast and awesome performances! It doesn't follow along like most movies. It is definitely an award winning theatrical piece in my opinion.
"A washed-up actor who once played an iconic superhero must overcome his ego and family trouble as he mounts a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim his past glory."
I went to see A Merry Friggin' Christmas mainly because it was one of Robin Williams last movies and they were having a special showing at the theater. It actually comes out on DVD this month. It was entertaining and I enjoyed it but it was just okay!
"Boyd Mitchler and his family must spend Christmas with his estranged family of misfits. Upon realizing that he left all his son's gifts at home, he hits the road with his dad in an attempt to make the 8-hour round trip before sunrise."
I know it may seem crazy to see so many movies in a few short days but Mark travels often and sometimes movies don't stay long at the show so we take advantage of that fact. Also one of our local movie theaters has $5. Tuesday's and $4. Wednesday's for seniors. Not all of the hottest releases come to this theater but when they do you will find us there!

I said this before, but I do like when you post your movie reviews, Debby. I make note of them and then check them out when they come to RedBox. Great assortment of movies you saw here :) We saw the new XMen movie through RedBox this weekend; hubby likes the series. It was okay, held my interest a bit.
betty
Wow! You see more movies in a few days than we see in a year!! Glad you got to spend time with your husband doing what you like to do!
i'll probably try to catch several of these on cable. :)
You know, you could be our very own Roger Ebert! Your movie reviews are great! My son saw Interstellar and said it was really good. He told me it would be a little scary for me to watch, but wouldn't explain why! Anyway, that's the movie from your list that's on my list.
Happy Monday!
I'd like to see Interstellar. I think it looks and sounds good.
i would like to see Fury and John Wick and St Vincent also..
Hi Debby! There are a couple of movies that you reviewed that I really want to see. I love a good action movie so John Wick is one and I'm also a fan of Bill Murray so definitely St. Vincent. Have a blessed day... :)
I always enjoy your movie reviews. We rarely go to the movies, but watch them on TV instead, through On-Demand, or Netflix. I make notes from your reviews so I'll remember to watch for ones that sound good! Awesome!!
I don't think it is crazy and it informs us. Have to say I have not seen any of those yet though!
I always enjoy your movie reviews, Debby...keep 'em coming!
We don't go to theaters, but I always enjoy reading what you think about the movies you've seen. If there's one I'm really interested in, I'll wait til it comes out on DVD.
St. Vincent sounds like a movie I would like.
I would like to see `Fury`
We did like `Interstellar`
It is a long movie, but well worth it.
I'm right there with you, Debby. I hope we can one day go to the movies together! Ann
