Our Thanksgiving was wonderful at Mark's mothers house. She decided to go simple this year and use decorative paper plates which was awesome.
We were of course missing Michele and Pam who were not able to make the trip from Arizona due to some health issues with their dog Stanley that happened right before the trip. Also Pam's parents declining health issues were also present.
Mom was starting to cut the pies and she was holding this large knife and I asked Barbara to take a picture of her. Of course the boys joined in for a funny Thanksgiving photo!
On Friday evening we went over to Mark's brother Jeff's house for dinner. That is Jeff, his wife Barbara, son's Nicholas & Hunter, Mark's mom Vivian, his brother Jimmy and wife Caprice. They came in from Chicago. Earlier that day we went out for an amazing early lunch at Pappasito's Cantina.
That's Mark with Nicholas, Jeff, Jimmy and Hunter. They had fun playing ball in the backyard!
Jimmy and Caprice headed home on Saturday morning very early and Mark joined them in the cab so he could pick up the rental car for our trip to San Antonio.
We left on Monday morning in pouring rain for San Antonio, TX. When we arrived in San Antonio we went over to see a house that Mark lived in for about 3 years with his mother and step-father. We also drove around the area for awhile so he could check out places that he was familiar with to see what they looked like today.
We stayed at one of the Marriott Hotels on the Riverwalk and were given a very nice suite to stay in.
Some views from the Riverwalk.....
Then we headed on over to the Alamo which was fun to walk through.
No photos allowed inside!
Loved this cactus....
After the Alamo we headed on over to have a yearly dinner at The Palm Restaurant which was as awesome as usual. I just love eating there.
Then when we got back to the hotel we went back down to the Riverwalk and took the boat ride on the river to see the Christmas lights. It was so cold that day that it was hard to believe we were in Texas. It was probably only about 50 degrees but with the wind chill factor it felt a lot colder.
This was the Gingerbread House at the Marriott.
Mark attended a conference on Tuesday and we had a late check out of 2 pm. He was done a little earlier than he thought he would be so we headed back to another Pappasito's to have lunch.....yum! Then we headed back to his mother's house and had a nice evening with her.
On Wednesday we were going to go out for lunch with Mark's mom before our flight but her cold had gotten the best of her. So we took off a little earlier for the airport and grabbed a bite to eat at Cat Cora's Kitchen at the airport. I really enjoy this restaurant and when we have a long layover we eat there.
Made it home safely which is always a nice feeling. On Thursday morning I woke up feeling very congested and ended up not going to bowling which was a bummer. I love going to bowling!
I do feel better today, have been doing breathing treatments. This is just a regular issue if I catch a cold or overdue. Not connected with my other illness that I had in Aug, Sept, & Oct.

the riverwalk is always neat, and i can imagine christmas decorations must be awesome.
before you even said you went back to pappasitos, i was going to comment that i love their chicken quesadillas and soft tacos! :)
One of my grandfather's lived in San Antonio and I spent part of a summer there with him when I was 16. Cool town.
Looks like a fun trip! Ann
Hope you are feeling better today! It looks like you had a wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing the photos and stories!
Mark's mother looks great!! I'm thinking she has to be in her 80s? You would never know it! It looked like you guys had an enjoyable time there; I bet it was fun to see the lights like that as part of a boat ride.
I liked the idea of paper plates for Thanksgiving. Keep it simple!

What a nice trip! I used paper plates too. THE VERY SAME ONES! LOL I enjoyed the pictures. What a happy gathering!
Sounds like you had a great time. I love the idea of paper plates, mainly because I don't like doing dishes!!

I've only been to San Antonio once, but loved it.....it was about this same time of year and was freezing!
They do have some good eating there. Looks like a good time with family! Glad you made it home safely qnd feel better!!
I don't see the Alamo & not think of Pee Wee's movie :)
Hi Debby! I just love looking at family pictures, so thank you for that. I kind of missed you though! You should get in one of those sometime :)
Your trip and Thanksgiving sound like so much fun. And a tradition too, which is really great. I'm glad you had out of town family in too, it makes it that much more special. My sister, her daughter and my daughter's family were with us for Thanksgiving, and it really was fun.
Take care of yourself!

What fun. Even back when I visited the Alamo in January 1994 they didn't allow pictures inside :-)
What beautiful photos. Lol
The knife photo is the best, my boys would do the same!
I love the Marriott I stayed there my first night in Boston. We had our event there it was so pretty.
Welcome back. Your trip sounded like so much fun and those are great pictures. I'm glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday. Blessings to you... :)
Hi Debby, Loved seeing all your photos from Thanksgiving and hearing about your family gathering.
It's hard to believe that it is already the Christmas season. Praying your breathing treatments work; I used to have asthma and remember how difficult it was.
I have to have a root canal this week and blood work next week followed by a appointment with my gp. I'm praying that the blood work is closer to normal so that I don't have to keep going in every 3 mos. It becomes so tiring.
Sending hugs and prayers your way.
Noreen
What a wonderful trip - I have been to Dallas only one time in my life!
