MOVIE MONDAY

On Labor Day Mark and I went to see A Walk in the Woods. We both thought this movie was very entertaining. Of course it was nice to see the struggles that many of us know as we age. Can you imagine backpacking the Appalachian Trail. This is definitely a movie to see. The two are great together.

From my research it appears that Bill Bryson, who wrote this book, did this walk when he would have been 45 years old. Obviously Robert Redford and Nick Nolte are older than that!
"After spending two decades in England, Bill Bryson returns to the U.S., where he decides the best way to connect with his homeland is to hike the Appalachian Trail with one of his oldest friends."

I went to see Before We Go last Wednesday. It looked like it would be entertaining and it was! The two actors were fun together and they take you on an interesting adventure. This movie is what I call a dialogue movie.
"Two strangers stuck in Manhattan for the night grow into each other's most trusted confidants when an evening of unexpected adventure forces them to confront their fears and take control of their lives."

Last Friday I went to see two movies. I love when show times can work out that way. Honestly it doesn't happen that often. When I went up to the ticket booth I asked the ending time of Learning to Drive which was the first movie I saw.

Its end time was 1:15 which is when Maze Runner was starting so I knew I could do it because you almost always have 15 minutes of coming attractions. So I purchased both of my tickets. It's nice when movies you want to see are at the theater that has $5.00 senior tickets for all movies all day everyday!

Just look at the actors in this movie. This movie was very entertaining, I really enjoyed their connection and how two perfect strangers can have an impact on each other's lives. Actually I have a favorite movie with Patricia Clarkson that I watch often called The Station Agent. People coming together and bringing each other support are my favorite type of movies.
"As her marriage dissolves, a Manhattan writer takes driving lessons from a Sikh instructor with marriage troubles of his own. In each other's company they find the courage to get back on the road and the strength to take the wheel."

So next up was Maze Runner : The Scorch Trials. I enjoyed the first one so I knew I wanted to see the second installment. I know there have been mixed reviews on this movie but I loved it. Probably even more than the first one. This one has no stop action and I'm so glad I saw it!
"After having escaped the Maze, the Gladers now face a new set of challenges on the open roads of a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles."

What movie have you seen lately?

Have a wonderful week....

I read the books for A Walk in the Woods and The Scorch Trials, so it would be fun to see the movies.

Good morning! We saw A Walk in the Woods and both enjoyed it too. Though now that you mention that the guy who wrote the book was 45 it was A LOT more believable. Seriously Robert Redford was just TOO old for the role in my opinion, lol. And I love him. But his wife looked like his daughter too. Kind of insulting for her. Though I guess she could have just been married to an older man, lol. We saw Captured this week-end [I think that was the name!] with a true story of how the book the purpose driven life was put to good use. It was really good. Have a good week!

Thanks for the review about the 2nd Maze Runner, Debby. We saw the first one and it didn't engage me much, but I think we are planning to see the 2nd one to keep on with the series. Haven't been to the movies since it cooled down a bit here :)

$5 for a senior ticket? I'm envious! DH and I went to the Sunday morning matinee and even then, their seniors' fare was $7/per.

Are you familiar with Jack's blog over at Ship's Log? He and his bride of near 59 years used to do the Appalachian Trail and he's written fondly of those adventures on several occasions.

I saw a movie yesterday about a girl who in the late seventies walked for 6 months through the deserts of Australia with four camels and a dog (yes, tv was working fine). I didn't see it all, since I wanted to see some other shows as well, but I thought that was very good. Tracks it's called.

Hi there, Thank you so much for the review, btw-did you ever watch War Room? Anyway, I want to see A Walk in the Woods as well because I've heard it was so funny. I thought Learning to Drive looked good too; we will wait til the weather gets colder before going every week.
Great reviews!
Have a great Wednesday.
Hugs, Noreen
