Volume 244
Thank you Joyce.....
1. What's surprised you most about your life, or about life in general?
I think what has surprised me the most is how quickly to passes by!
2. Among others, these ten words were added to the Oxford English Dictionary this year...awesomesauce, beer o'clock, brain fart, buttdial, cat cafe (apparently this is a real thing), fatberg (gross-read the definition here), fat shame, hangry,Mx (gender neutral), and skippable.
Your thoughts? In looking over the list, which word do you find most ridiculous? Which word would you never in a million years say out loud? Which word would you be most likely to use in conversation?
Mx is crazy. I will not be saying Fatberg but I would probably use Brain Fart!
3. Do you like gravy? Is there a food you'd rather not eat unless it comes with gravy? Do you make your own or buy the canned or store-made variety? Turkey and gravy, sausage gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy, country ham and red eye gravy, biscuits and chocolate gravy, pot roast and gravy...which one on the list is your favorite?
Yes I like gravy. No I can't think of a food I wouldn't eat without gravy. I do not make my own but I do put drippings from the turkey into the brand I buy. I've tried and tried, just can't make my own gravy. Turkey and gravy is my favorite. Next would be sausage gravy.
4. Do you have a plan? Do you need a plan? Have you ever had a plan fall into a trillion pieces? Explain.
I always have a plan and many times my plans have fallen into a trillion pieces.
5. November 19 is National Play Monopoly Day. Do you own the original or some version of the game? Do you enjoy playing Monopoly? How likely is it you'll play a game of Monopoly on November 19th? Ever been to Atlantic City? Ever taken a ride on a railroad? Is parking in your town free? Last thing you took a chance on?
Yes we own a Monopoly game. I do enjoy playing it but haven't played in a long time. I will not be playing it on the 19th but since you mentioned it I will look for one of the Monopoly Casino games on Thursday at the Bellagio. I have never been to Atlantic City.
I have taken a ride on the railroad. I was 13 and my parents put me on a train from Chicago to California to spend a month with my aunt and uncle. Not sure about the free parking. I am sure there are some areas that we pay for parking. Well since I'm in Vegas I am taking a chance with every bet I make!
6. A song you like that has the word (or some form of the word) thanks in the title, lyrics, or meaning?
First thing that came to mind was Thanks For The Memories with Bob Hope singing it at the end of his show. Also I remember Frank Sinatra singing it. I also remember Wayne Newton with Danka Shane which means thank you......
7. In keeping with this month's theme of gratitude....what is something you're taking for granted that when you stop and think about it, you're grateful for?
All that I have, all that God has given to me. We often forget to be grateful for what we have.
8. Insert your own random thought here.

sadly, as a 911 operator, we get a lot of 'butt dials'. in the dispatch room, we use 'pocket dial' but a lot of callers admit to 'butt dials'.
Happy birthday Mark!
What a strange list of words. Isn´t it amazing what people come up with?
Happy birthday to him! And that train ride from Chicago to California, when you would dare put a 13 year old girl on and know she would be safe... those days are pretty much gone.
I always have a plan, i plan to make a plan, i am a plan freak... and yes they do sometimes fall apart but not often because i have a back up plan. LOL
i love to ride the railroad and have many times. bobs favorite frank song is thanks for the memories and he drives me nuts singing it. he knows all the words. he is a Sinatra fan. no momnoply now but i did many years ago.
Pretty sure I won't be able to use those words in words with friends even if they are in the dictionary now.
Happy Birthday to Mark!
What a fun train ride. :-)
Good luck this week! $$$$$$ :-)))
Happy Birthday Mark!
I'm still confused about Fatberg - I've never heard of that.
isn't that the truth - life passes so quickly
Happy birthday Mark.
I love gravy too.
And I am always surprised how fast life goes too.
Happy birthday to Mark. It seems unbelievable that you used to be able to put a child on a train, bus or plane. We put Sara on a plane to San Francisco at age 12. Would never do that now. Ever.
happy birthday to Mark.
I enjoyed your answers today! Happy Birthday to Mark :)

Have a wonderful time in Vegas, and Happy Birthday to Mark! Love that picture of him on the beach!
Good luck on your next bet. Living in Vegas? Lots of chances there!
Love your answer to Number One! Have you seen that image quote on Facebook (I think it's Purple Clover's page) which says, I Thought Getting Old Would Take Longer!"
Happy birthday to your hubby!
Grrr....this just showed up on my dashboard today. I too am amazed how fast life went by.
Sounded like a fun railroad trip you took!
betty
Its Thankful Thursday and I am thankful for you; these posts help me get to know you.
Happy belated birthday to Mark.
Hugs,
Noreen
Happy birthday to your hubs! I wish I were walking on the beach right now : ) I'm not a gravy expert either, but the make ahead from Southern Living is pretty simple. I like doing it a day ahead and then just reheating for Thanksgiving. I feel like that last minute thing is my biggest obstacle in making good gravy. Enjoy your weekend!
I also remember Bob Hope singing `Thanks for the Memories`
Is there a link to put the flag on your facebook profile? Thanks!
Normally the words they add make sense, but beer o'clock is ridiculous. On a completely different note, I love dumping gravy all over my plate on Thanksgiving!
You are so right on #1. It just flies!
I don't know why but "awesomesauce" bugs me. It just seems juvenile.
Sorry to be late getting to your post. Computer woes, as you know.
Belated bdy wishes to Mark - that's a wonderful photo.
I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I appreciate your friendship and blog visits and I'm praying for you and yours.
Happy Birthday Mark!
So true my life is spinning by so fast .. ugh
