LAS VEGAS

The ceiling at the Bellagio in the main entrance.
Our trip to Las Vegas was great. I love when I can join Mark on a business trip. I don't see to much of him because he is working but if you know me, you know that I can sit at a machine for hours on end!
For the first time ever, and we have been going to Las Vegas once or twice a year for over 20 years now, we encountered snow along the roadside. You can always see snow in the mountains this time of year. We were probably around 3,000 ft. before entering downhill to the valley that Las Vegas is in.

We continued on the freeway pass the strip and headed to North Las Vegas so we could go to our favorite Chicago pizza franchise for lunch before checking in at the hotel.
The Bellagio was awesome! I really enjoyed my time there and I think this is the first time we were ever in Las Vegas for 4 nights. It was just what I needed.
I was lucky enough to go out twice for one of those delicious and expensive company dinners. First night was at the Fix. The other nights I was on my own. I ate lunch one day at The Buffet and also had dinner there once. So much food and it was all yummy!!
I posted on Facebook while I was gone and I shared this story there.  At the dinner buffet I passed a younger woman who looked at my plate and said "Your not trying hard enough" and I said "Well you didn't see my other two plates!"
I shared a cab with Mark one morning when he was on his way to the convention. I think it was Wednesday which was his birthday. I didn't see him all day. After the show they went out to dinner and then the guys took him out for drinks. I think he came into the room around 1 am.
I was dropped off at the Venetian so I could visit the Carlo's Bakery from The Cake Boss. That was a fun treat. I love watching his show and really wanted to try a cannoli. Let me just say that it was out of this world! I also had what they call a lobster tail. I also bought some cookies for Mark.

After that I worked my way back to our hotel by walking the strip. Let me just say that walking the strip is not like it use to be. A lot of beggars are sitting on the street and some very shady looking people too. I would not want to walk it at night! There is even a White Castle on the strip now!
I gambled a little bit at some casino's along the walk. Felt good to get back to the Bellagio. One thing about me is that I really like to stay were I am at and not leave.  I've seen them all so I just like to stay put and find some favorite machines to play.
I play the Keno machines and I did win $250. twice. Now if you have ever spent days gambling you know that wins can be few and far between. I like to make my money last so I only play 25 cents each spin most of the time. So the money you win goes back in easily.

I am pleased when I can play on their money which is what I did. The money I took with me to gamble with came back home with me and that's a good thing!

On Thursday I went to their art gallery and paid to see the Picasso exhibit of artwork that has never been on display before. That was fun and I bought a book of all the artwork I saw as a souvenir.
I did more gambling and enjoyed my day. This was the second night that I got to go out with Mark, Phil and Danny for dinner. We ate at the Palazzo LAVO restaurant and it was amazing.

We headed back home on Friday and stopped again at Aurelio's and even got a few par baked to take home. It was a great week and I thouroughly enjoyed myself even if Mark wasn't around much.

Sharing my Bellagio Fountain video again!

That looked like such a fun trip, Debby! You did a lot too in the 4 days you were there and always good to come back from Vegas on the winning side with gambling money :)

Sounds like a nice trip - and you really did some great things. Happy birthday to Mark. And good that you brought home the same amount of money you started with.

We have been to Vegas many times and I also enjoy our time there but 3-4 days is plenty long enough. Yes, it has changed greatly over the years. I was there on Halloween about 5 years ago and it was almost scary the way some of the folk were dressed. Happy weekend!

I *really* enjoyed this travelogue post! I've been to Las Vegas, twice, gambled once and that with a quarter I found on the floor. I am FAR to cheap to gamble although when the lottery is in 3 digits, I will buy a ticket. It's for the grin factor and that's what Dave and I used to do...we'd buy a ticket and then spend the money like crazed folks. All in theory, of course...lol. Las Vegas has the highest foreclosure rate in the country; the economy there is in the toilet, has been for a few years. It's terrible sad.

I have never been to a casino. I am a bit afraid I won´t know when to stop, since everything I do, tends to be full on or not at all!

glad you had a good trip. it's been years since i've been to vegas. the glamour and lights of the strip hide so much of the poverty and run-down areas just a block or two away. :(
