~ Thank you Joyce ~
1. Are you watching the Olympics? Your favorite summer Olympic event? I read recently a list of the most iconic Olympic moments in history...what stands out in yourmind as a great moment from some past summer Olympic games?
That is a great list Joyce, thank you for sharing it. Since I am on my Bucket List trip this week I can't watch like I want to but I'm trying to keep up when I can. I'm going with Bruce Jenner, Florence Griffith, Greg Louganis, Michael Phelps and Gabby Douglas.
2. Have you ever been to Rio? How about the place that started it all-Greece? Have you ever been to any of the Olympic Games in person? Is that something you'd like to do? Have you ever met an Olympian in person?
No I have never been to Rio or Greece. No I have not been to any Olympic games in person or met an Olympian in person but my fondest memories were just 4 years ago watching with my dad when I was visiting him in Florida. We would stand up each time we got awarded a medal while they played our National Anthem!

3. The ball's in their court (tennis), cross the finish line (track and field), on target (archery), make a splash (diving), on a roll (gymnastics), out of one's depth (swimming)...which Olympic-related idiom best applies to your life right now? Explain.
I'm going with cross the finish line. We have a huge itinerary this week of things to see in NYC and I want to cross that finish line!!!
4. What have you earned a 'gold medal' in recently?
I'm not sure but I would venture to say that by the end of the week I should be getting a Gold Medal for being patient with Mark's need to complain about waiting in line for things.
5. What is it (or who is it) that motivates you to eat right, exercise, and do what you can to be healthy?

5. What is it (or who is it) that motivates you to eat right, exercise, and do what you can to be healthy?
I'm going to say it's me, I have illnesses that require me to eat a healthy diet and because of my COPD I can't do a lot physically so eating healthy is my best bet to at least maintain the weight I am at and keep my organs healthy.
I'm going to vent a little here.....doctor's are very quick at prescribing medication for things that can actually be accomplished by eating a healthy diet. Mark is on a cholesterol lowering statin and I wouldn't let the doctor put me on one. I accomplished lowering my numbers just by eating a healthy diet!
6. Are you young at heart or an old soul? Explain.
I'm not sure......
7. It's National S'mores Day (August 10th)...are you a fan? Will you celebrate with a s'more today?
I didn't know that and I'm not prepared for it but if I have the opportunity I will try to have one. I am a fan!

So if you read my post on Monday you should know that I am in New York. First time ever! We saw the Amityville house from the horror movie yesterday since we were in Amityville for business yesterday. Had a lovely steak dinner last night at Blackstone Long Island.

We arrived safely at Laguardia Airport on Monday. Unfortunately they have construction going on and haven't quite planned out the traffic movement yet. It took 30 minutes before a Hertz bus came by and one hour to get to the Hertz Rental Car Office. Then it took another hour to get to the freeway which was about 2 miles from there.
Today we head to our hotel across the street from Central Park for our 4 night stay. Hopefully the worst part will be returning the car to the airport because we are going to take a cab or Uber into the city. Public transportation will be all we will be using once we get there.

I agree that doctors are too quick to prescribe medication!!! Have fun in NY... wish I could be there too!
yes, the taxis are a necessary evil there. ;) good luck!
Glad to hear you are taking the Big Apple by storm. Be sure to take a lot of photos of things in the hotel that you know I will love. I am not answering any of the questions today because none of them pertained to me at all in any way. I don't watch anything that is a sport so have no clue. Do they give gold medals for grumpy
I so agree that the doctors are too quick with the medications. I hope you get everything done on your list of things in NYC and hopefully your husband will not complain too much! ;-)
I hope you have a wonderful time in NYC! Public transportation is definitely the way to go. I agree with you about the over-prescription of drugs. Doctors can't believe that my husband and I are on no drugs at all. I know that some of it is due to genetics, but there's also the fact that we feel responsible for our own health, rather than expecting that we can do whatever we want, eat whatever we want, and expect a pill to make up the difference. Was that a rant? I didn't mean it to be a rant. Enjoy your week.
I've always wanted to visit NYC...so jealous, but excited for you! Can't wait to hear more about your adventures. Mark sounds a lot like Chris...he hates waiting in line! I, on the other hand, tend to go with the flow.
Wise to take public transportation when in the city. We did that in Washington, DC and it was so much better than trying to find a parking space, etc. Sounds like you are having a great time! I like how you and your dad would stand up for the National Anthem watching the Olympics back in 2012.
Enjoy your time in New York!
betty
So glad to hear you're having a good time!
Your mention of you and your daddy standing for the Olympics' awards ceremony brought tears to my eyes!
I can't wait to hear all about your trip Debby! So glad you get to experience the wonder that is NYC!! Lots of patience required for lots of things in the city, but I know you'll enjoy the week. Have fun!
I know that you can fix your health by doing healthy things - I want to know yow you got your mojo = I am looking for mine. I am so happy you are enjoying your trip!
I enjoyed reading your answers, today. Have a great time in NYC, Debby!

I've been enjoying your New York trip via Facebook! Keep those pictures coming! EXCELLENT point about doctors, medication, and healthy diet!
I hope you are having an incredible time in NYC, it's one of my favourite cities to explore. (and yes, done best with public transit or on foot) And honestly, how did I miss National S'more day! :)
Don't you just love Uber...I used it while visiting Chicago. So easy and much cleaner than the city taxis. I hope your NYC vacation is fabulous!
Cheers!

Can't wait to hear about your adventures in NYC. You were about 15 minutes from my house! I don't like waiting in lines either, but my husband doesn't seem to mind. How different we are that way ;)
Hubby says,"No one cares for your health and money any more than you do!" So true. I loved the story of you and your dad. That is so sweet and what a precious, fun memory. I am enjoying keeping up with your trip on FB.
I totally agree on the doctors thing--It's ridiculous.
I wouldn't go to Rio if you paid me--It just smacks of FAKE to me. These days, it seems safer to just stay in the U.S. also. I honestly think that travel abroad (at least in the Eastern Hemisphere) is off the table for me forever, unless you count New Zealand, but who can afford to go there? :)
Have fun in NYC!!!
Sounds like you're having a wonderful adventure! Loved your hodgepodge - even had to chuckle at Mark's impatience with lines! Reminded me so much of my father!!
GOD BLESS!
I've watched more of the Olympics than I use do because my husband is a fan. I like the gymnastics and the track events best.
I've never been to Rio or to South America (yet), but I have been to Greece.
S'mores oh how I love you but my rear growing is so not a fan .. lol
