WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

Volume 282
Thank you Joyce!

1. Have you ever been to and/or lived near the desert? What did you think? Travel and Leisure lists the 'coolest' American desert towns as-

Palm Springs CA, Virgina City NE, Bend OR, Winslow AZ, Marfa TX, Grand Junction CO, Silver City NM, Moab UT, Taos NM, Yakima WA, Borrego Springs CA, Terlingua TX, and St. George UT, and Tubac AZ

Have you been to any of these? Would you like to visit a desert town? Which on the list would you most like to see?

I like the desert. I have definitely been to Palm Springs, it's about an hour from our house. We have been to Arizona several times and just might retire there!

2. What's a plan or project you've deserted in the past year?

Cleaning out closets, drawers, cabinets, etc! You name it and I have avoided it.

3. Desert-dessert? Share two or three words you find yourself having to think twice about when it comes to spelling.

It's and its gives me the biggest problem. I do have to catch myself sometimes with their and there along with her and here. It's only because I type fast but I try really hard to read things several times before I send them.

4. High and dry, like watching paint dry, dry run, dry as dust, not a dry eye in the house...which phrase can you relate to currently? Explain.

Not a dry eye in the house. I find myself bursting into tears often. I'm pretty depressed since I got out of the hospital and the steroid shot hasn't worked in my knee. I can't do what I did before and that in itself wasn't a whole lot!!!

5. How often do you frequent the dry cleaners? Starch or no starch?

I don't at all. Mark takes his dry cleaning at lunch time every other week or so.

6. What's a food or beverage you enjoy that's named for a place

I'm going with New York Cheesecake.

7. Do you need solitude?

I don't believe I do because I am home alone a lot most of the time

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I know I have mentioned this before but if I do not respond to your comment that means you are no-reply. I really liked responding to each comment, that's how friendships are built in the blog world!

I have never seen a desert or been to any of those towns. I would love to visit all or even one of them.. I do not want to live in the desert though. I am a tree lover. I send the wrong spelling all the time and sometimes the wrong word.. like hand for and.. sorry to hear you are bursing into tears, I do know not being able to do what you did before is totally depressing. I have never used a dry cleaners in my life. but my dad did. smart lab

I always want to spell 'a lot' as 'alot'. I want it to be one word. :) I'm sorry your steroid injection isn't helping. I hope you feel good today and have a great day!!

It took me years to learn a lot was not one word. I cannot spell territory or veterinarian for the life of me. Thankful for spell check. Sorry you have been down lately, you have had lots of different issues this year to deal with. I love your random thought.

Love your doggy training cartoon, we are shopping for the right puppy and will be in training mode very soon. I'm sorry to hear the steroid is not working, it has really helped my back pain. Maybe an additional shot will do the trick, sometimes I need two within a week and then I'm good for at least a year. I'll pray for your healing.
Cheers!

NY cheesecake is a great choice. My mom makes an outrageous cheesecake, but it always cracks so we top it with cherries or strawberries ;) Hope your knee feels better soon. I can relate to how your feeling since my dizziness has increased recently.

I found it hard to think of the food item and now I'm visiting other blogs so many of my favourite things are being listed - like New York Cheesecake. Love it! I'm sorry your health is not great. It must be very frustrating. Good that you still have your sense of humour though - that cartoon was really funny.

I have the most trouble with desert and dessert. The amount of times I have had to look up the correct spelling!

I don't think I have ever been near a (hold on while I look up how to spell it) desert of any kind. Now, desserts however....

Love that cartoon at the end!!! But I am so very sorry to hear that the steroid shot hasn't given you the relief you were hoping for. That is terribly frustrating. :-((

I love that cartoon and it is so true! I think Disco thinks that too. I have been to Palm Springs and I think it was the hottest I have ever been in my life - teehee. I am with Judy I'd rather be in dessert town than desert town.

I have the problem of mixing up words, too, because I'm typing fast. I know what I'm trying to say, but I look back and that is not at all what I typed. Very frustrating. I spend a lot of time re-reading and still miss things. I think that being online has been the worst thing possible for my writing in some ways. It is like no grammar rules apply at all on some sites.

There/they're/their and here/hear and a few others trip me up sometimes. I know the difference, but just am not paying attention while typing so fast. What gets my goat the most is seeing school teachers use "your" when the context clearly needs "you're" and "then" when it is supposed to be "than". It is like they don't understand there is a definite difference in these words. They do it consistently, so it is apparent that it isn't just a matter of fast typing, but lack of understanding the difference. Well, enough on that one!

The doggy cartoon is cute. :)

Have a blessed week!

PS I also meant to say that I am sorry the shot did not work and that you're not feeling better. You're in my prayers. I hope your health will be fully restored to you.

I always had a problem with Its and It's until my English teacher pointed out that the only use of the apostrophe is for the contraction, it is. Util that time I thought if something owned something else you would use it's as well.

A leaf blower with the setting on kill rather than stun is a great way to clean out those closets. Just blow it all into a pile and then shovel it into a trash can.

I loved your answer to #2 - things you've deserted. I have deserted those very same things myself. Do you think we should feel bad about that? NAH! Debby, my husband had to deal with some depression after his bypass surgery several years ago. I think it is not uncommon when one has gone through issues with the heart. I do hope you will be able to see some improvement soon. He says "It is not a matter of snapping out of it as some people think and advise. Who chooses to be depressed?"

I'm so sorry about your knee. Sending hugs and prayers your way, Debby. I know, from experience, it's no fun to not be able to [physically]do what you want.

I lived and worked in the middle of the desert for two years when I was serving in the Army.

I am with you on Cheesecake. There is a Swiss restaurant in KC that makes a fabulous cheesecake. I am buying if you ever get to KC. ツ

I'm sorry you're feeling weepy. Frustration and pain can do that, can't it? Reni (lovely3 and mommy to Baby M) was tired and frustrated today and teared up. She NEVER cries and I felt so bad for her. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers daily! Hugs!

I'm so sorry to learn you're feeling emotionally vulnerable, Debby. As I get older, sometimes (OK, usually) memories or notes from an old song do that to me.

Yay for N.Y. Cheesecake! My mouth's watering at the thought!

I am sorry to hear about your knee pain. My knee's are in chronic pain too. It does depress me too from time to time. Regarding my drive up the Mt. Washington Auto Road, I realized it was a bad idea about a third of the way up. Now that I survived the trip, I won't be doing it again any time soon Thanks for visiting my blog site.

There are a lot of no-reply in the Hodgepodge, which is frustrating. I'm sorry your knee is not feeling better. Will they give you another shot? I know sometimes it takes more than one to find relief. Take care.
