Volume 289
Thank you Joyce
1. Let's talk holiday decorating. On a scale of 1-10 where do you fall? (1=Scrooge and 10= Clark Griswold). What's your favorite corner-room-table-space to decorate? Is it done?
I am definitely a 10 and here is my post from last year: It's A Wonderful Life I am not done yet because I can't stand for an extended period of time because of my knee but it will all get done. My word for this year was PUSH and let me say that it is definitely in play right now!
Favorite space is probably my collection of Christmas tins although I love everything with all my heart. My living room tree is done, family room tree should be done today and several other areas are decorated already.
2. Is there a nativity scene in your decorating somewhere? Post a picture or, if it's special to you in some way, tell us why. Or do both-it's Christmas!
Yes definitely. I own several nativities which I love. My Willow Tree Nativity is up on our fireplace mantle.
3. Do you live in a social neighborhood? If so are you glad? If not do you wish you did?
No, there is no social activity in our neighborhood. It's okay with me. I tried when we first moved in. I would give all the neighbors a gift from us but that's as far as it went.
4. As the saying goes, 'there's no time like the present'. How does that ring true in your life right now?
Obviously with buying gifts there is no time like the present! I am pretty much done with all the gift cards I needed for out of town. Did that all online except for a few that I had to go to the store for.
I am feeling rather organized this year and hope to get all the out of town packages in the mail by next Thursday. I have just about everything for here at home too. Just need a few more suggestions from Adam.
Amber spent most of her Christmas money before she left. She got some great boots and some new items for their home like a duvet and cover plus a few other big ticket items.
Next up will be Christmas cards which have been ordered and then I will start to bake Christmas cookies......

5. Do you dread Mondays? Why or why not?
No I do not dread Mondays. I've been home for about 7 years now and Mondays are fine with me.
6. Poinsettia, Christmas Cactus, Amaryllis-which on the list is your favorite holiday plant? Are any of these on display in your home right now?
My father in law use to send an Amaryllis each year. I haven't had one in a long time. I have a Christmas Cactus that is in bloom right now and I have a small poinsettia too!
7. Share a favorite quote from a Christmas movie.
"Every time a bell rings and Angel gets his wings"
It's A Wonderful Life
8. Insert your own random thought here.
So the trip went well for Mark and Amber. They arrived in Great Fall, MT on Wednesday early evening. Dylan got home from work after 8 pm and they unloaded the truck. Amber wasn't real pleased at first with the place Dylan rented but is now very happy as it is looking like a home now!
I am happy for them. I think they need this time alone. Living with your parents for 6 1/2 years just isn't the best scenario for anyone.
On Thursday Mark and Amber went exploring a few areas. They had a great day and wouldn't you know that there is, according to Mark, a local pizza that is absolutely delicious. He compared it to several of our favorite Chicago pizzas!

You are diligently working on Christmas :) Sounds like it is getting all together with what you need to accomplish, even with dealing with a "bum" knee. Once Amber makes their house a "home" I'm sure it will go well as they continue to adjust. Moving in winter in the cold months is a challenge, but I think they will do just fine!
betty
Good to hear Amber is settling in. It's always important to have a home as soon as possible. I hope they will go on liking/loving it up north.
I will start my decorating today. Although my tree probably won't go up for another week or two yet. Cats and baubles and tinsel don't really mix I have found.
I am happy to hear they are settled in and safe in their new home. you are most definitely a 10 and a really good 10.. maybe even an 11.
I always have a nativity out. yours is beautiful. I don't want to live in a social neighborhood. I don't like people knocking on my door.. I don't work now, but never had Monday dread, I had Monday through Friday dread
Always love reading here on Wednesdays Debby.
Here is a quote from the wingless Clarence: "You've been given a great gift, George: A chance to see what the world would be like without you."
I'm glad everyone is settling in well. I'm not feeling quite as organized this year, but I just keep moving forward and hopefully I won't miss doing something I should : ) I love the Willow Tree Nativity. Someone bought that for my daughter as a wedding gift, which I thought was so nice. Not something you'd buy for yourself as a newlywed. Enjoy your day!
"There's no time like the present." My folks are in their 80s and my dad's health is declining. I feel a sense of urgency to be present with them as much as I can living 2 states away. I would say to everyone, don't worry so much about buying stuff. make it a point to go BE WITH someone special. You never know when that opportunity will be gone.
I bet your home is decorated to the hilt - BEAUTIFULLY! And Amber looks happy - I think they will do great.
Debby, your trees look like something out of a high-end restaurant or hotel, and the Willow Tree figurines are really engaging. I've loved them since they first debuted; it doesn't seem all that long ago, does it?
Our neighborhood's not the slightest bit social, either. Maybe Joyce was thinking of Knots Landing? LOL!
Hi,
Somehow I missed something about Amber. I am so excited for her. I have a best friend who lives in Great Falls, MT. I have visited three times and love it. In fact my husband and I have thought about moving to Great Falls!
So happy things are going well, Amber looks very happy.
We also have a Willow Tree Nativity. I love it.
I like your Christmas quote.
Debby, Your decorations are beautiful, especially your Willow Tree Nativity Scene; I have ours on the mantle too. Glad Mark and Amber are enjoying some alone time and on their own-all couples need that.
Hope you have a great evening.
Hugs,
Noreen
I knew you were a 10 from your trees :) I too have to start baking, but haven't done my Christmas cards. Still need to take a photo of the kids for my cards. It feels like time is going so fast! Have a great rest of the week :)
Beautiful! I love your tree and your mantle. You know, I have tried giving goodies to our neighbors over the years with no response. This year I baked pumpkin bread loaves to take to the neighbors and I think that is the last time. It just didn't seem well received. I'm sorry you are still having trouble with your knee. When I first married, we moved about 500 miles from home and it was quite a growing experience for me. Your Amber will be fine.
I would say I'm maybe a 7 or 8 for decorating. I do love it. I put up lights inside and out, do a tree, stockings, and some other decorations. Poinsettias in every room. And lots of candles!
I would say you are way more than a 10 when it comes to Christmas decorating!! I love your Willow Tree nativity. I'm glad Mark and Amber are doing well in their new location. How are you adjusting?
Oh, my goodness, can't imagine that many Cmas decorations and I have good knees. :o)) You must keep it up for a long time. I take my down at least the day after Cmas if not Cmas day. Glad to hear Mark and Amber are settling in to their new home.
Knee pain is no fun. I have pain in both knees it varies in degree of intensity from day to day. Sometimes over the counter analgesics take care of the pain but some days it doesn't. So push through is an apt description. Thank you for visiting my blog page. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Glad to hear they are settling in.
So are the gel shots not helping your knee?
Carla's best friend who lives in Great Falls is my cousin. She loves it there. I hope they will too. It's always nicer once you get settled in. It sounds like you've got the Christmas season well organized. I love your Willow Nativity. So beautiful. Have a good weekend, Debby.
Oh my ... love all of the trees in your sidebar. They are gorgeous. Mine are a lot more eclectic than that.
Hoping to bake some cookies and make some fudge this afternoon!
It sounds like you have gone all out for decorations. Have a great week and a Merry Christmas
I'm sorry that your knee is giving your troubles and hope that it is better very soon. You're in my prayers.
You have a beautiful tree! I love the little buildings on it.
That is a great Nativity scene! I like how minimalist it is...simply beautiful. :)
I am glad that the trip went well for Mark and Amber and Dylan. I hope that Amber will have that place feeling like home to her and Dylan soon. It can be very hard adjusting to a new place, especially when/if you had no hand in choosing it. I hope that all will be fine for them in their new home and for you as you adjust to this.
Have a blessed weekend and a Merry Christmas!
I love your nativity scene. I was so excited Rick bought me on this year to put up. I hope to get another one.
That is my fav movie and saying! Love the Angels!!
