I've never been one to make resolutions but I have enjoyed picking One Word for the year since I started Blogging. Last year my word was push and I really pushed myself through the year, it was a bit of a struggle.
On Facebook this year it started to get so ugly with all the politics that I started a little campaign of my own and started posting smile graphics. It seemed to go over well and when I was taking my shower yesterday that is the word that came to me for this year.
"Smile"
Nat King Cole Lyrics
Smile tho' your heart is aching
Smile even tho' it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by
If you smile
Thro' your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shin-ing thro' for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide ev-'ry trace of sadness
Altho' a tear may be ever so near
That's the time
You must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worth-while
If you just smile....
Smile even tho' it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by
If you smile
Thro' your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shin-ing thro' for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide ev-'ry trace of sadness
Altho' a tear may be ever so near
That's the time
You must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worth-while
If you just smile....

WOW, our list of resolutions is exactly the same...lol I like the idea of one word for the year. I've never done it but maybe I'll follow you and adopt the word smile for the year.
oh no, you and Ann are both going to try and out do my SMILES.. good to know, now I will crank it up with my punny puns... I wish more people would do the smile thing on FB... serious stuff there is enough to go around. I tore off my smile and I love that song
That's a good word. Smile!
I like your word choice and that song. I've never chosen a word of the year but who can't smile more? Happy New Year :)
I love that new years resolution - it is mine too! lol
That is a great word, Debby, and I have enjoyed the smiles you have put on Facebook and your efforts to keep with your smile campaign!
betty
Great choice, Debby!
Makes me shake my head at my own stupidity years ago, believing myself in love with this 'person' who cautioned me not to smile because (he believed) my teeth were unattractive. (I had such a poor self-image, desperately trying to measure up to his expectations.)
Now, I LOVE smiling!
Smile is a fantastic word for the year. I see you get your thoughts in the shower, too. My dil gave me Aqua Notes to use in the shower for writing down the thoughts that come in the shower. 😊
What a great choice! I was going to post mine today, but it wasn't a good day. I hope to do it tomorrow.
Smile is a good one! I quit doing resolutions a few years ago so i dont set myself up for failure.
I really try to do the word a year thing but i havent been so good at that either.
Can't go wrong with that attitude! I'm working on positivity myself.
Debby,
I love your word!! Perfect!!! I do some of my best thinking in the shower too. ;-)
Love Ya,
Carla
FB was brutal the past year. I've stayed away for the most part!
Happy New Year!
I like the word you chose. It's always interesting to me to see the words people choose each year. I've never done that for myself.
That's a really lovely idea. I had to back away from social media a lot last year for much the same reasons, but I love how you've responded to it. Happy 2017, I hope it truly is a "smile" year for you. Xx
