That little nursery rhyme isn't something you hear very often in Southern California, bring it on is what we say!
It has rained for a few days each week for about 3 weeks now. That makes all of our dry hillsides turn into gorgeous green works of art.
And of course with the rain comes some beautiful snow capped mountains.
This week I am working on taking down the Christmas decoration. I have a few bins packed already and the stuffed animals are all packed away too. We are also changing over into some new bins that will stack better. (I also ran to the show on Tuesday so I didn't accomplish anything)
So the only room that is still a big mess is the dining room. The dining room table is my gathering place for random items. Of course the two big trees are still up and I hope to work on them over the weekend.
My plan is to separate the ornaments into "Can't Live Without" and "Time To Let Go." I need to downsize so this will be the start of it. It won't be easy. I want to sell our two 6 1/2 ft. trees that are now three years old and get a new 7 1/2 tree.
This is the tree that I hope to get. It is a Granton Spruce and I love it. My ornaments need to be woven in and out of the tree so this one should allow space for that. My older 9 ft tree was similar to this one.
Since we no longer get plastic bags at the grocery store, which we used for our recycling each week, we needed to set up a bin for that. Amber left this trash can behind and it is working out perfectly for us.
Just so you know I normally bring bags into the store for our groceries. I've been doing that for many years now but there was something about Target bags that worked really well for us to use for our recycling.
Amber sent this adorable picture of Charlie with his boots on in the Montana snow. I don't know why he doesn't have his sweater on!!
I gave Skye a bath yesterday and when I do that I always wash her beds and blankets too. Since she didn't have a place to sleep I invited her up on the sofa and made her snug as a bug in a rug......
So that's what is going on in my neck of the woods......

Skye looks so cute! You have been busy working! I bet it is a good feeling when it is all done for the year until you bring it back out once the new holiday season is upon you. That's a good idea to start downsizing and to get that one tree. I bet you won't have any trouble selling the other 2 trees, especially close to next Christmas.
I had forgotten about the plastic bags in California. When we were there after Christmas we had gone to the store to get some things and the bags that were used to pack up our stuff were really nice. Then I looked at our receipt and saw we got charged for them and then i remembered the law that had been passed. I'm bad about taking reusable bags to the store here, but I do recycle the plastic bags by taking them back to the store and putting them in the right bins for recycling.
It is interesting all the rain/snow California is getting. Hope it helps immensely with the drought!
betty
Looks like you're about to get done with all your Christmas things and you have been a busy busy busy I'm glad to hear you sit in a trip to the show.
Well, if you're getting rid of ornaments: if you have a bus (a proper one, not one of those VW-ones), I would love it! Just so you know...
And isn't Skye looking all adorable.
thats a lot if Christmas totes!!! Glad you have made progress with 'un' decorating!!
I love the picture of Skye. Cute picture of Charlie too. I love puppies.
Sounds like you've been busy. I want to get a new tree and i wd hoping maybe i could find one after Christmas when everything was on clearance but no such luck.
Charlie and Skye both look cute as can be
Snug as a bug! :) This cooler season, when Macie and Grace come inside each early morning, I invite them up on the loveseat to be "snug as a bag in a rug." The ROUGH part is having to tear myself away from all that cuddling to get ready to start the day.
Target's grocery bags are the only thing I miss about shopping there! They made the BEST sturdy trash-can liners.
Wishing you peace when making the tough decisions -- what to keep, what to let go. Y'all gave them a good life! :)
The two dogs are cute - that is a lot of snow. What do you get your groceries in if not a plastic bag any more? It is going to be hard for you to give away your ornaments!
Good luck with getting all the Christmas down. Glad you are getting some rain.
Charlie made me smile. CUTE!!!
I am so happy California is receiving rain!!!
I am going to tackle two closest this week. I am wishing you luck and you wish me luck. ;-)

Skye has it made. I did the same thing I gave a Abby a bath and washed her bed and towels, she wraps up in a towel if she is sleeping are just laying in the recliner with her master.
Christmas is always such a chore to take down. I donated quite a bit of stuff myself that i had grown out of love for.
That is certainly a crazy comment above me!!
Those dog boots are cute.
I heard on NPR that California is experimenting with ways to store that rain to replenish the water table during droughts.
