Volume 307
Thank you Joyce, I always look
forward to Wednesday Hodgepodge!
1. Share a favorite memory of your mother or share a favorite something from your own life as a mother. If you're a mother (or stepmom) tell us how your experience as a mom differs from your own mother's experience.
My mother loved Christmas and I think my favorite thing about that was the fact that she, along with my dad, would decorate the church each year. I remember sitting in a pew and watching them.
My mother was depressed and she also drank so I tried really hard to be present for my kids. I know I wasn't perfect and I probably was a bit over protective along with being a helicopter mom!
2. In May we celebrate teachers (May 9) and nurses (May 6) both. Most every family has at least one in their midst, so tell us something (or a few things) you appreciate about the teacher or nurse on your family tree.
Having a nurse in the family is new to us. I am sure that Dylan is an excellent nurse because he has very good communication skills, loves to talk with people and cares deeply about his patients.
3. Chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad...which would you go for if all three were on the menu? On bread or a bed of lettuce? If you answered bread, what kind of bread would make it the perfect sandwich?
That would be a tough choice, I like all three. I think I would pick tuna salad on a bed of lettuce. I usually will eat my tuna salad as a sandwich with Dave's Organic Whole Grain Bread.
4. Do you have a desk? Is it organized? If so, share your secret to keeping it that way. If you don't have a desk, where in your home do you take care of family paperwork and business? Where do you normally sit to blog?
I have a desk but it really doesn't have drawers. I don't have too many things on it so yes it is organized. Mark does all the family business and paperwork at his gorgeous roll top desk. I will sit at my desk or I have a computer lap pad that I use if I sit on the sofa.
5. When I was nine years old....
Good question, I don't have a specific memory from being nine years old. I had a lovely childhood but because of some issues in our home I have blocked out a lot of it.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
We were in Peoria, AZ over the weekend. We drove there on Friday and returned home on Monday evening. Adam and Gabby flew into AZ on Friday night and joined us for the weekend. It was wonderful visiting with Michele and Pam. We dropped Adam and Gabby off at the airport on Monday before we started our trip back home.
Skye was pretty good on the trip there but was panting all the way home for over 5 hours. I am probably going to have to ask the vet for something for our trip in the summer to Montana. She did get along okay with Stanley who is bigger than she is. He is a Coonhound. They didn't play together at all but were okay around each other.

I am glad to hear Stanley and Skye got along and no problems together. I wish I could hug the coon hound since my favorite dogs are all of the hound variety, the bigger the better. did you get a picture for us of Stanley? When I was 9 I lived in a chicken coop that was remodeled into a four room house.. in my aunts back yard. fond memories were made there and not so fond. i have a computer desk for blogging, a laptop table for holding the laptop, the tablet lives on the breakfast bar so i can torment bob by playing word with friends while eating...
Nice memory of your mom and dad decorating the church at Christmas. No wonder you love Christmas so much. Glad your visit here was a good one. Skye is becoming such a traveler.
Betty
Your mom and dad liked Christmas and that is probably why you like it too - and decorate those trees. Sorry about your mother - it makes it hard I know. Hey I just found that bread - my sister told me about it! It is expensive, but healthy and good tasting. Love, sandie
I'm sure your own children will say Christmas and your wonderful trees are a favorite memory of theirs. I'm glad your pup is learning how to manage the road trips. Happy Mother's Day!
I knew we had some things in common, but I never realized just how many until I read some of your answers, today.
I'm glad you had a nice trip to AZ. It's always good to get away and especially to visit with family!

It is good to have some highlight memories to compensate for the sadder ones. Not sure who all the people mentioned are, but I take it you like them 😉 and were happy to see them!
Poor Skye, she just isn't into travel. Hope the vet can help. I love reading about our different experiences growing up. Have a wonderful Mother's Day.
Oh, I'm in love with Mark's desk and that marvelous saddle!
I love tuna, but the 'aroma' usually offends my co-workers. I'm anxious to hear what your vet has to recommend. I'd love to be able to travel with our pups someday.
Dave's bread is the best! I was thinking that you decorate for Christmas so elaborately, you must have gotten that from your parents. Your desk is beautiful.
Sounds like you had fun. I was thinking about you and Christmas....Loved your pictures. Love tuna salad too....your reply made me hungry for some.
We love Killer Daves bread too! It's the only type I buy. Otherwise I just make my own.
Happy Mother's Day Debby!
Hugs
Noreen
Enjoyed reading your answers.
I have to say I am overprotective as well as a helicopter mom, too.
That is one reason our adult son's still live at home.
It's good to know I am not alone in this.
Have a great weekend!!
What a special memory to have of your parents. Perhaps this is one of the reasons you love Christmas so much?
Happy almost Mothers Day to you!
Beautiful desk. Ann has a desk. My desk is my lap. ツ
Happy Mother's Day Debby!
I used to have a roll top desk in my office. Now I do most all the bills and so on on my laptop, usually sitting on the couch or out on the sun porch.
I love Dave's bread! I've been not buying it since I over indulge lol
