On Tuesday April 9th we drove to Carlsbad to see the ocean and have lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. It was an overcast day but the temperature was nice and you didn't need a jacket. We took a nice walk and enjoyed listening to the waves.
We also stopped over at The Flower Fields which are in bloom for about two months each year. They are done blooming by Mother's Day. They are Ranunculus flowers. The postcard below shows you an aerial view of what it can look like.
We picked up a bunch of fresh cut white ones to bring home. They will bloom for about 10 days.

Those flower fields are spectacular!!! I'm with you... I adore the sound of the ocean waves. I love falling asleep to it when I'm traveling.
I've never heard of those fields, but this aerial view takes my breath away!
How nice it is to have the beach close to go to. Loving the flowers. Pretty. I have not been to Carlsbad but I have been to several areas in Southern Calif. I visit La Mesa, San Diego, Julian, Palomar Mt., and Del Mar. I love Calif. My dad was in the Navy when I was born in Port Hueneme Calif. Left when I was about 2 and finally made it back at 51. Been out every other yr. since. Son lives in La Mesa.

I have never tried to grow ranunculus. They look so lovely. I will have to try it here in Wisconsin sometime.

Carlsbad is such a pretty city! What is the name of the restaurant you like to eat at there? Probably haven't heard of it but just curious. We did live in Oceanside for about 2 years close to 20 years ago. I love the flower fields. I haven't visited them but always enjoyed driving by them when they were in bloom. So colorful!

So close to the beach & beautiful flowers. I would love to see these. I want to ask are you not close to any of the wild fires they have had in Calif.
