1. Howdy Hodgepodgers. It's kind of fun to be back, isn't it? Last time we met was September, 2018. Tell me something big-important-happy-or sad that's happened in your life since that date. Just one thing. We don't know how long this current isolation situation is going to last and we might need to dole out our news bit by bit.
Yes, definitely happy to see you back!
My grandson James was born in October 2018. Best gift I could ever receive.
2. Might as well get this out of the way early on...COVID-19. On a scale of 1-5 how serious are you about keeping your distance? Explain. fyi-I didn't create the scale but have seen it several places online. Also fyi-we won't only have virus related questions each week, but for this first one it feels right.
1-Not at all, living normally
2-Cautious but still going out
3-Going out as needed, mostly home or working from home, still seeing friends/family
4-Extremely limited, only going out when unavoidable, minimal contact with people
5-Full lockdown, no one in or out
#5-Full lockdown!!! I would never survive if I caught it, not with my stage 4 COPD. Thankfully we had been very well stocked before this happened. We could still go for several more weeks or more. We are going to try an order from our grocery store one of these days just to see how it goes.
Mark went out about 11 days ago to Home Depot. He had a mask on and plastic gloves. He stripped down in the laundry room, washed his clothes and took a shower. I've been in for 14 days now. I have no plans to leave the house.
3. Raise your hand if you think you might run out of steam in the cooking department before it's all said and done? What's something delcious you've cooked or eaten in your own kitchen in the past week?
We have had roasted chicken breast with veggies, sauteed cabbage with brown rice, black bean chili in the crockpot and roasted pork chops with mushroom risotto. Not to mention some thick crust Lou Malnati's pizza from Chicago.
4. What's a television show or movie you've seen recently (it could be an oldie) that you really liked?
4. What's a television show or movie you've seen recently (it could be an oldie) that you really liked?
This is a tough one for me. I've been taping Hallmark movies every night since the shutdown. I watched The Farewell which was very good. Queen and Slim was excellent and Ford vs Ferrari was really good too!
We still get DVD's from Netflix each week. Jo-Jo Rabbit is on its way and so is the new Jumanji movie.
5. Share something funny you've seen or heard this week.
So Roxy has a food dispenser that is timed to go off at 5 pm. James is now running over there and feeding her one at a time. Too cute.....

Aww, James is just too adorable.
I ran out of steam in the cooking department a long time ago. Cooking for one person isn't easy
My newest favorite tv show is Chicago Fire. I LOVE that show
for two weeks we have been number 4, I am the designated go out for necessities. for 1 of those weeks no YMCA or TOPS meeting. we don't know what we have until it is gone, and what is missing for us is the freedom to do what we want when we want...we binge watched Manhunt, the series about the Olympic bomber and it was one of the best series we have watched in years. since we had no stocked up kitchen, I have been cooking what I could find and one day it was chicken and gravy over fake mashed potatoes. delish and not healthy. we miss the availabity of eggs and TP the most
We are now taking it in turns to cook. It was my turn yesterday and for some reason the cauliflower just would not do what it was supposed to do. Which was a shame as it is one of my favourite veggies!
I will be making spare ribs on Friday. I am so hoping it works out, also because our single neighbour is coming over.
Which immediately answers one of the other questions: yes, we are still going out, but trying to do so only when needed. Although the virus is getting closer. A town closer than 10 miles now has 4 dead and a further 18 diagnosed. No knowing how many are really infected as people here have been a bit slack in some cases thinking it will blow over.
Keep safe!
Your Baby James is adorable. Too cute. How wonderful to have that little guy to brighten your day. I have been ordering groceries online for pickup for about a year. It is so convenient. Stay well.
Debby, thank you for sharing James. I love that last photo.
Take care my friend,
Carla
James is so cute. With being on full lockdown, I'm guessing you're not seeing him right now. That must be agonizing for you.
The meals coming from your kitchen sound yummy!
Blessings,
Patti
So nice to see you in the HP today Debby! Your grandson is precious and I know how hard it is to be away from him. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself and keeping your distance from everyone. Stay well!
It's good to see Wednesday Hodgepodge.
So cute how James feeds Roxy at 5 :)
I am being creative with our meals. Something different every night. Tonight is cheeseburger pie.
Have a great day, Debby!
I am so glad the Hodgepodge is back. I haven't blogged in even longer than that! Your grandson is adorable. I have been the same way when my husband and daughter come home from work, change clothes and wash right away. Stay healthy Debbie.
James is growing so fast, loved the photos, and thoughts, I am so encouraged at how well everyone is doing during this crisis.
Blessings,
Sue
James is such a cute baby! What do you think of all the rain we are getting?
That's so cute about James feeding Roxie! I've gone out 'now and then' for groceries, but this last trip left me feeling inexplicably uneasy. We've not witnessed anyone wearing masks or gloves … yet. I'm going to try and make my own hand sanitizer this afternoon.
First of all, there is no need for me to comment on your James pictures because you already know I think he is the most adorable little boy I've seen since my own grandson was little. That last piggy picture is so cute. You are so smart to completely isolate yourself. We are pretty much inside as well except for taking occasional walks around the neighborhood. But, we aren't complaining; it will be over soon and we don't mind spending time together. I need to be recording the Hallmark movies too.
James is the best gift ever.
I am glad you are a 5 - I am a 4.
However the people I live with are not as careful as I'd like them to be.
This little piggy stayed home!
Love, sandie
James is so cute and that cracks me up that he’s feeding the dog one piece at a time. lol
Stay well my friend!
Such fun to be back with the Hodgepodgers. Glad you are obeying the rules and staying in. Good to be in touch.
My gosh, that meal you made in the crock pot sounds good! So cute with James and Roxie and the food dispenser! Good for you for socially isolating so well but I know the risks you face if you don't. I haven't been out since Sunday but did go out at the store then to get some things. Hubby's been out and about most days trying to replenish things or keep things ahead of the game with running out. He said that stores now here have red dots to have people stand on while they are waiting in line to keep that 6 foot distance.
betty
I'm glad you are staying in and are well stocked during this time. How cute that James is fee feeding Roxy.
Nice to visit you.
Hi Debby! It's good to touch base with you again. Wow, your grandson has really grown, and he's so handsome! They sure do keep us entertained, don't they?
I totally understand how important it is for you to stay in, and I'm right there with ya'. I stay stocked pretty well, too, with the exception of "fresh" foods. I've had family on the hunt for fresh fruits, lettuce, and tomatoes :) I'm good for a week or so with that. Fortunately, we had plenty of tp on hand. Ha!
I pray that your dad stays well during this, too. I feel sad for those who are shut in away from family.
Take care, and I hope to blog and visit more often in the future. It's been way too long. (Kathy)
James is so precious, aren't grandbaby's GRAND !! I have stage 4 COPD also and I have been staying in. Like you, this virus would probably be 'goodby' for me! Are you on oxygen? I am 24/7 @ level 2. Hope and prayers you stay well.
I’m fairly worried about it. I work in the ER and we are taking it seriously.
I’m glad you are staying away.
This is the craziest experience ever.
Your grandson is adorable.
Doesn't that adorable face just makes you smile and makes you happy. ADORABLE. Staying in as much as I can. All this is crazy but doing what I can.
You have the cutest grand baby. We have tried staying in, everyone seems to want to visit.
