I had been in the house for 22 days before we broke the law last Friday night!! However we were 10 ft apart and there was no contact whatsoever!!!
We had a Google Hangouts chat 2 week ago. James really wasn't interested in us at all, which broke this grandmas heart, yet when we Skyped from Montana in February he was so happy to see us. Brought us toys that he associates with us. That had been such a pleasurable experience.
So I needed to see my grandson and Adam needed to see me because he just lost his grandpa. It was so perfect last Friday night and after James went to bed we stayed and continue to chat with Adam and Gabby. It did my heart wonders especially during this difficult time of my father's passing and not being able to go to Florida.
We brought our own wine and snacks and sat out on lawn chairs that were thoroughly sanitized. I have a Fisher Price play radio that belonged to Adam and Amber which I keep in the backseat of the car for when we pick him up at daycare. I always sit in the back seat with him and we play with it together.
The toy radio was bought after my mother passed away 38 years ago. It plays "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and that song was played at my mom's funeral and rainbows are very common around my dads birthday each year. Also when I see a rainbow I think of my mom.
When we Skyped I showed James the toy thinking that he would remember and he couldn't of cared less. So I sanitized it and brought it over. He was so happy to see it and play with it. Adam said in a text to me last Saturday morning that it was the first toy he went to when he got up. My heart is happy!

So after my dad passed away Adam saw a perfect rainbow from his backyard and he took it as a sign from his grandfather.

I'm glad you got to spend some time with your son and of course James too.
Pretty rainbow, I would have taken that as a sign as well.
Wonderful post. The rainbow shows so much hope.
Happy Easter.
so glad you were able to get your James Fix and do it without touching or getting to close. great idea. I bet he wondered what in the world was going on...
Such a sweet post, Debby!! Whenever I hear that song now in the future I'll think of you and yours!! It was great you guys got together like this! Safe and distanced but still able to make that connection you all needed!
betty
Together, but still apart ... perfect compromise! I've always loved that song. Seeing that rainbow is a wonderful reassurance.
I'm glad you got to spend some time with your son and James and in the perfect way - I wonder if James is wondering??? Hey don't worry about him with Skype - mine loses interest too.
I have always loved rainbows! Thank you for this post.
God Bless You & Happy Easter!!💖
Awww... I don't think you "broke the law", honey. You distanced quite perfectly. If everyone did the same, the passing of this virus would be over in no time. My thoughts & prayers are still with you during this difficult time since the loss of your Dad. Hang in there, my friend. All I know to say is "Hang in there!". You have your rainbow for reassurance!! Love, Andrea xoxo
Rainbows are always such a hopeful sign to me.
I'm glad you got to spend time with your grandson, even if at a bit of a distance.
I totally understand the need to see family. I wrote about on my Thursday Thankful post. I love rainbows too! I am making a few mask with some rainbow print. We finally have some sunny weather and I am glad about that. I am going to go out and read my Bible and get some vitamin D. Enjoy your day!
