WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE #378

Click HERE to join Joyce's Wednesday Hodgepodge

1.  Do you think the pandemic has had any kind of positive impact on your mental health? Explain.

No I don't think it has. I didn't leave my house that often before the pandemic. I went to bowling, doctor's appointments, the show, grocery shopped, went out to eat and visited with Adam, Gabby and James. Other than seeing James from a distance I can't do the other things.

I am down, I'm depressed and I'm frustrated! I really haven't been able to grieve about my father. I really needed to be present, to see him one more time. I miss talking to him everyday but I am also thankful that he isn't living through this pandemic.

I am also very thankful that I am well, thankful for the food we get delivered, thankful for my home, thankful for my family and the list goes on and on so I try to focus on that each day. I'm especially thankful I get to see James often even though it is from a distance.

I am grateful for God's protection over me and my family.

2. A hot mess, hot under the collar, in hot water, hot button, hot diggity dog!, hot shot, hot seat....choose one and tell us how it applies to your life currently.

Well I think I just explained that I'm a "hot mess!"

3. Speaking of the hot seat, do you work well under pressure or do you actively avoid high pressure situations?

I don't like high pressure situations but I do believe I work better under pressure.

4. Hotdogs-yay or nay? If you said yay how do you like yours? Did you know July is National hotdog month?

Yay! We don't have hot dogs very often but we did get a kit of Vienna Hot Dogs from Taste of Chicago for Father's Day and they were fabulous. I actually like mustard on my hot dog but I don't mind having some raw onions, maybe some chopped tomatoes and a little relish if available.

5. I read here a list of America's coolest Southern towns. They are Marfa Texas, Greenville South Carolina, Abindgon Virginia, Athens Georgia, Bentonville Arkansas, Florence Alabama, Oxford Mississippi, Abita Springs Louisiana, Wilmington North Carolina, Monroeville Alabama, McMinnville Tennessee, Natchez Mississippi.  How many on the list have you seen in person? Which town on the list would you most like to see?

I don't believe I have been to any of them. Bentonville Arkansas and Florence Alabama both montion Frank Lloyd Wright homes so I wouldn't mind seeing those. I actually partied in a Frank Lloyd Wright home when I was in High School.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

I don't know of anyone who can say that the pandemic had had any kind of positive impact.
I don't eat hot dogs often but when I do I prefer that they be a Smith's hotdog. They are made locally and they are the best. I'll take mine with ketchup, mustard and onion please.

That photo of James and Roxy is the sweetest! I'm proud to see Athens, Georgia on that list. That is only about an hour's drive from me and the University of GA is located there. I love raw onions and mustard on my hot dog. I am thankful that we have all we need but like you, I miss the freedom to do some things since the pandemic.

I think for most the mental health did not improve during lock-down. And even know with restrictions being somewhat lifted, it is still hard for most. Even a simple touch is not recommended. It's what people need: touch. And this whole thing just made it very clear.

Loved your answers today.
The picture of James and Roxy is so cute.
Have a good Wednesday.

I think you have yourself a professional kiss blower! I do love me some hot dogs. I like mine on a hot dog bun with mayo and relish and sometimes catch up sometimes not! But I don't have him very often because it really bad for my help but I would eat them at least once a weekend if it weren't for that! All I can say about the virus as it has done a job on my mental help I'm not a good job either

If you ever make it to Phoenix again, Debby, we need to tour the Frank Lloyd Wright house here. We haven't yet but hear its fascinating.

I know what you mean about being a hot mess though I'm not grieving anyone . I am sorry you haven't had the chance to properly grieve for your dad either. Its good that James is there to bring you joy when you get to see him on the weekends you can. James does blow great kisses!

Thankful too you can get so much delivered to the house or picked up! Imagine how hard it would be if you couldn't have that service available?

James is so cute.
I love Chicago Dogs. We have one Chicago Dogs here in GA that we go to for special treats.
Covid - I think it makes everything stressful - I think mostly things are hurt by it - but I am sure too there must be some good coming from it. I have to trust that. You know?

High Fives to Hot Dogs. I like Koops mustard on my hot dogs. Koops is made right here in Wisconsin.
Stay safe Debby and keep thinking positive! We have to get through this!!

James is super cute! I don't think you sound like a hot mess at all! It sounds like you are being real about your feelings while also being thankful. That's all we can do, right? I like onions on my hot dog, too. I've never tried tomato on a hot dog!

I would like to tour a Frank Lloyd Wright house. We went to House on the Rock which was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs. Very interesting.

I’m so glad you get to see your grandson so often.

I know that seeing James even from a distance brings cheer to you. He is such a darling. We are all eager for this time to be over, but I can't imagine how difficult it is for those not even allowed to visit and/or grieve loved ones. God bless you Debby.

Grief is a sneaky thing, isn't it? I mean, you can be going along having a whee old time, then all of a sudden something will trigger a memory. That STILL happens to me. Now, please wrap your arms around yourself and imagine that's your sweet daddy sending you a hug from Heaven.

Sweet James! I am a huge Frank Lloyd Wright fan and have been since 9th grade when I did a report on him and his work. We saw the house in Bentonville and I was thrilled to actually be in one his buildings. I love that you are counting your blessings even while not feeling well about your situation. That's the healthiest thing you can do for yourself.

I'm hoping to see the Frank Lloyd Wright home, Falling Waters which is in PA one of these days. I think everything is extra hard, but grieving one of life's biggest losses is particularly difficult. Hugs to you!

Debby, thank you so much for the information you shared about Chicago Dogs on your comment on my blog. I appreciate that. I'm still sorry with you that you couldn't be with your dad and didn't get any good closure. This virus is horrible in so many ways. Cute little guy blowing kisses!

I know nothing about Abita Springs (#5) but it sounds like a neat place. James is adorable.

I am back to playing with my weekly UNO group and love it.

1. Do you think the pandemic has had any kind of positive impact on your mental health? Explain.
Yes I do. About a couple months ago I noticed that I was doing a lot of clinching my jaws. I thought maybe that was in line with the pain I deal with but I have never done that so I am thinking it is a way of the stress and emotions to work out of my body. I have been worrying about all this and how they think that kids will be able to get back in school or how my daughter will do it if they have to do virtual learning and both her and hubs working. He was laid off with them until last week. My 20 yr old grand is home with them but he can't be required to get them on line at the given time the teacher is on. And what about laptops and what about those that don't have internet services. I am so concerned about this. With it revamping in Nash I worry about my daughter and grands getting it. I worry about my son in Calif getting it since that seems to be one of the worst places now. Yep...its playing with me.

2. A hot mess, hot under the collar, in hot water, hot button, hot diggity dog!, hot shot, hot seat....choose one and tell us how it applies to your life currently.
Hot mess. I moved at the start of Nash being shut down. I suffer you know from Fibromyalgia and the heat has vamped up. I still have boxes to unpack, still things to get rid of, still so much to do and I can't seem to get my act together. But then again, I am always a hot mess, its just more intense now.

3. Speaking of the hot seat, do you work well under pressure or do you actively avoid high pressure situations?

I try to avoid cause NO I do not do well under pressure. I get overwhelmed and shut down most times. Which is still an adjust to me cause before the F word I was never like that. I first to jump in and try to work out problems during pressure times.

4. Hotdogs-yay or nay? If you said yay how do you like yours? Did you know July is National hotdog month?
NO...I don't do hotdogs.

What? McMinniville TN. I live in TN and I can't image why that one is on there...haha
WHAT? McMinnville TN? WHY? I live not far from there and I can't think of a reason that one would be listed. By the way, that is the only place on that list I have been to. I need to get this rear in gear.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
always a pleasure seeing James. Cute. Random thought....I need to get moving and get ready for a wedding I am working...YIKES running out of time.

I think the only city on that list that I've visited is Athens, GA. I lived there the four years I was at UGA, and it is indeed a cool city. My brother still lives there.
