WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE #396

1. It's Thanksgiving week in the US of A so let's talk turkey. And by turkey I mean the elephant in the room because it's still 2020 and our blogs are a record of sorts of the times in which we live. Do you live in a state (or if you're outside the US, a country) that's instituted restrictions on the size of gatherings in your own home? What do we think about this? (keep it classy folks)

It's California, yes we have restrictions! No more than two households can gather together. Since our son has recently experience a few families gathering together, the so called bubble that recently broke, I can actually understand this restriction.

2. Let's move in a cheerier direction. Will there be corn on your holiday dinner menu? How so? Cornbread-corn pudding-corn chips and dip-cornbread dressing/stuffing-corn chowder-or regular canned, frozen or fresh corn in a bowl...which of the 'corn's listed is your favorite?

Since we are not in charge of making the dinner I can't say but when we did Mark's turkey birthday dinner recently there was canned corn on the menu. We always have corn if we have mashed potatoes.

Dressing is a favorite of mine but it would not be made with corn. I'm a fan of Pepperidge Farm  herb seasoned dressing.

3. What is there a cornucopia of in your home, job, or life currently?

Mine is filled with worry about my family. Adam, Gabby and James are doing good so far with their  recent exposure to Covid-19.  Adam was negative and so was Gabby's.

Over at Jason and Denise's house Jason is doing better. Denise was tested, came back negative and then tested again which was positive. Her mom and sister were negative but Jason's dad was positive. Adam & Jason's friend Danny who was visiting from northern California has symptoms. Not sure if he was tested.

So their Thanksgiving has been cancelled and I'm not sure what they are going to do about their broken bubble. Adam says this was a scare and they will definitely start to lay low from now on.
4. Have you ever quit something (such as a habit, a food, a time-sucker, a relationship) cold turkey? Is there something you need to quit cold turkey?

I smoked for a few years back when I was divorced. It was back when you would go to a bar and everyone smoked. I hadn't smoked before that and I did quit cold turkey.  I also stopped drinking soda cold turkey about 25 years ago.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could quit worrying cold turkey???

5. Share a favorite verse, quote, saying, or song lyric relating to gratitude.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Love your quote and random thought.

I think they've said "no more than two households together" because they know people are going to gather anyway, despite warnings, so they'd like to minimize them. Most governors have asked (begged) people to gather with no one who doesn't live under their own roof.

These next two weeks are going to expose what hell on earth is really like, after all the Thanksgiving gatherings tomorrow. :-( ~Andrea xoxo

Sending prayers for all who may have been exposed. I can understand your worry. We have zero restrictions here in Florida. I worry about my kids constantly, they figure if it was that bad we would have restrictions and just go about life as usual.

I wish someone would find a way for me to quit fretting/worrying cold turkey. I quit sugar cold turkey on Jan 26, 2017.. still hanging in there with that. i pray your family will stay safe and for your safety as you travel today.. I saw AZ has exploded and that worries me for you.. one of my favorite foods for dinner is corn off the cob, either scraped off a fresh cobb or frozen which is really close to what my mother cooked. my family is hooked on bob's mothers potato dressing/stuffing. he says stuffing i say dressing

It all definitely has a different perspective when you know people who have been very sick (or died) from covid. I understand your concern for your family. (Tell them to get outside and sit in that wonderful sunshine!)

Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Prayers lifting for Adam and Gabby. And of course, James. Are toddlers even at risk? I never hear of them being tested.
We've few restrictions in place (Alabama), and now the numbers are escalating. Will be joining Troy and family AND extended family members tomorrow -- but plan to wear our masks and sit outside.

I love the quote. We don't do anything special for Thanksgiving. We're not foodies and love our everyday life.

Corn? My favorite is popcorn, and I eat it unsalted and unbuttered. How weird is that?

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving no matter what your circumstances will be. That's a great quote!

I like your random thought and your gratitude one too Debby! We are encouraged here not to gather together in large groups but no restrictions per se placed. Glad to hear both Adam and Gabby tested negative. Funny you have corn with mashed potatoes, I remember we always had peas with mashed potatoes :)

Happy Thanksgiving Debby and Mark (and family in Arizona)
