Let's talk about gifts this week.
Gift of the Magi
1. Whether it's Christmas, Chanukah or a birthday party nice gifts can be hard to pick out. Is there a safe go to gift you think will fit anyone?
I believe the only thing that would work for anyone would be a gift card. I suppose you could give flowers or bakery.
2. Is wrapping a gift a necessary part of the excitement of giving and receiving?
Yes I do love having a wrapped gift to give or receive.
3. What gifts given to you did you love the most?
Oh my, I've had so many wonderful gifts given to me. I'm just going to say that my grandson James being born just 13 days after my 27th birthday was the best gift I ever received. (Besides my own children being born) Gifts from God!!!
4. In the O. Henry book The Gift of the Magi, a man sells his pocket watch to buy some beautiful hair combs for his wife's long hair but she has sold her hair to buy him a platinum pocket watch chain.
Love that story!!!
Have you ever saved long and hard to buy someone a special gift? Would you be okay with a holiday that didn't include gifts? Would friends and family understand?
Honestly I can't remember saving long and hard to buy a special gift. I would be okay not getting gifts although I do like them, but I wouldn't be okay not giving gifts to my family. I'm sure that they would understand but we all enjoy gift giving in our family. It's tradition!

I like giving gifts but I hate trying to find something for someone. It seems to be getting harder all the time for me to pick a gift for another person. I'm considering giving just gift cards this year.
I love giving gifts but I am not a good shopper. I tend to buy people what I would like and that doesn't always work out well lol. These days I usually go with gift cards unless there is something specific that I know someone wants.
Our family are adults now so we just get money cards for the great grandchildren.
I enjoyed all of your answers.
Have a good Tuesday my friend.
James indeed was a very good gift to be given Debby! For me it was easier to buy for the kids when they were younger. Its so much more easier to give gift cards or money which I'm doing this year. Hubby and me haven't exchanged gifts in years which works for us :)

We don't do gifts and have not since 2006. So none of these can I answer. I can't say I do not like to get a gift unless it's cash so I can buy what I want because nobody can please maybe cuz I don't like just stuff just to make a gift. I love to give gift if I know somebody needs or wants something but I don't like to give gifts if I don't know what they need or want. I rather give them the money and tell them to buy what they like because that's what I would like to be given to me
I enjoyed your answers Debby.
I guess the gift cards are the best way to gift this year.
It's rather boring but practical.
We love doing the stockings on Christmas morning..Silly is always the best. We can make a whole lot over "nothing".
This year is so very tight financially that gifts are going to be slim pickins. Dave and I occasionally give to each other but as we are getting older we just don't need much of anything..and when we do we just go ahead and get it.
It is fun wrapping and unwrapping gifts though.
One of the best gifts was my bike when I was 10 years old. A dream come true...

As my sister can't come (yet again), we have sent her two large boxes filled with gifts. Each day she can take one out. There are the obligatory sweets and chocolate, but also some home made gifts and some other things. I had fun picking it all out and I definitely wrapped them. No point in a gift otherwise I feel.
We've simplified to Amazon gift cards...except Andy and I give one another candy. Christmas was the one day in the year the kids in his family could eat all the candy they wanted. That's the tradition that's important to him. 😀
I love that story too - you are a very generous spirit.
