2. What's one thing you've baked this month? Have you eaten the finished product? How much baking do you do around the holidays? What baked sweet something does your family insist is on the menu during this season of the year?
I haven't baked anything. Was going to bake a Bohemian Hoska to take to Arizona but decided not to and thank God I didn't. They had 4 pies and two bakery breads for the 4 of us!
I used to do a lot but only a few things now each year since Amber and Dylan are not here. I will be baking the Hoska but that might be all. We just don't need that many sweets. Spritz cookies are always wanted and the pecan balls but there is a company called David's who does butter pecan melt ways which are delicious and you can get 2 tins at Costco.
3. Your most recent 'half-baked' idea?
Running away from home!!!
4. Where were you the last time you 'baked' in the sun? The top ten sunniest destinations in the world (most sun from January-December according to this site) are Dubai, Bali Indonesia, Los Angeles CA, Miami FL, Barbados, Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, Mauritius, Antiqua, and the Canary Islands Spain. Have you been to any of the cities listed? Which one on the list appeals to you the most? If the world were not upside down crazy and you could lie on a beach anywhere right now where would you go?
Probably Florida or Cancun. I have been to Los Angeles, CA! I have not been to the other listed destinations although it's possible I was once in Miami. I'm thinking Barbados or St. Lucia would be nice to visit.
5. Today I wish I had more _Holiday Spirit__.

The only baking I do any more is at work. I can't remember how long it's been since I've done any baking at home.
I am with you on the baking. With no one really around it is silly to do the things I used to do. This year, though Son3 and DIl3 are spending a few weeks here so I plan on baking a bit more
I still haven't tried the Bohemian Hoska recipe you sent me but I think I will make it right around Christmas, it's definitely just like my grandmother used to make for Christmas morning. Thank you again for sharing!
No baking for me and no eating baked goods either unless it's Biscuits I do eat those. And of all those places that are listed I would go to none of them I only go to places where there are no people. Of course I don't go anywhere at all now so I don't go anywhere. I ran away from home once and it was three miserable years
I like your random thought Debby! My mom and sister baked a lot at Christmas when I was growing up. I haven't baked in years except for those cookies from the store that you just plop down on the cookie sheet :) I basked in the sun this past weekend when it was warm here (about 80 degrees). Glad I did since tomorrow is forecast to be 65 :)
betty
I've never had much skill at baking. I'm more of an "order it from the bakery
type
My problem is I like baking and I like to eat it!
Love that quote at the end and saved it.
I can remember as a young mother of 4 and wife of 1 and working 40 hrs per week wanting to run away from home! lol But I hung around and now that memory makes me laugh! I sure agree with your random thought.
St. Lucia is one of my favorite spots. I haven't thought about running away but I have thought about pulling the covers over my head and not getting out of bed. But we don't. We press on, in spite of the challenges out there currently. Hang in there Debby. I will pray God shows up for you this Christmas in a way that brings comfort and joy. These are strange days for sure.
What is a Bohemian Hoska? I'll have to google it! I love reading about different desserts and foods that people serve around the country!!
I'm stunned Phoenix, AZ didn't make the 'sunniest' list. Still think I need a merit badge for having survived there so long.
Hey, I totally get you on the holiday spirit. If you find some, won't you send some my way? A nice Cabernet should do the trick ... LOL!
I think there is way more to the "running away from home" story! I enjoyed reading your hodgepodge!
I love your random thought at the end. Don't ever ignore that nudge to pray for someone.
And yes, the real holiday spirit is rejoicing in the birth of Jesus!
Enjoy that wonderful SoCal weather!
I found my Christmas pyjamas and cardigan and socks and sweater. Basically a lot of Christmas clothes and they always seem to put me in a Christmas mood.
I wouldn't mind visiting Indonesia in general, for several reasons: I want to just see nature and the sights and the second reason is that I want to find out exactly what happened to my step-cousing twice removed when he was captured by the Japanese in 1942.
I wish I had more holiday spirit, too. There was a COVID case at church so I chose not to go to the Christmas party. I am missing connecting with others at Christmas💖
I am with you regarding the holiday spirit... I had some during the day after Thanksgiving. Then our Sam had a major car issue. My husbands work closed because of COVID. It just seems one thing after the next. You start to feel exhausted. I definitely have COVID fatigue.
