1. If you are married would you share how your husband proposed to you? How long were you engaged before you got married? If you aren't married, what would be ideal for you?
Mark proposed to me at a very nice restaurant in a suburb of Chicago where we lived at the time. I knew it was coming, I picked out the ring. It was August 1971 and we got married on June 24, 1972.
2. Did you receive an engagement ring? Would you show us or describe it for us?
It was very pretty. It was a long time ago and after we divorced I moved the diamond into another setting. Maybe you can zoom in on the above photo. If you didn't know we were divorced after 11 years and then got back together six years later. Remarried on June 24, 1989 in Las Vegas.
3. What kind of wedding did you have? Was it big or small, formal, informal, religious or justice of the peace. Inquiring minds want to know!
We actually had a fairly small wedding and had the dinner in the church basement. Then my parents had a party at the house and people stayed until 3 o'clock in the morning. We did this because we had a set amount from my parents and Mark and I were buying a townhouse so we didn't want to go over budget. I thought it was perfect.
4.Was there a honeymoon? Where did you go, how long did you stay?
We drove to from Illinois to Michigan and spent our honeymoon on Mackinac Island. It was perfect. We probably stayed for about 4 nights and we did not stay in the Grand Hotel. We also toured the Kellogg's Factory in Battle Creek, MI. which was fun. Life was perfect in my eyes.

Love the pictures. When I married my first husband it was a big church wedding. When Wade and I got married it was by a JP but it was kind of a big deal. His first wedding was a small in the garage kind of thing and he wanted a big party this time.
no romance at all in my engagement, I can't even remember but I think #1 said do you want to go pick out rings? man speak for marraige. beautiful whie gold emeral cut diamond, I sold it to finance my divorce 19 years later. Bob just started saying When we get married at the beginning of sentences. no diamond, just matching bands. we were married at courhouse by the person who sold us the license. Hallmark is ringing me now, have to go answer 😁😁😁

I always think smaller weddings are the way to go especially if one keeps within their budget and has other plans like you and Mark did with buying a place. I would have enjoyed touring the Kellogg Factory. I enjoy seeing things like that :) Glad you and Mark got back together again :)

I love your love story. We were high school sweethearts and he proposed at a at a graduation party in June 1972.I was sitting on the jukebox and hubby said "Let's get married" and I said "Let's". No engagement ring, we couldn't afford it but for our 20th anniversary he gave me an eternity ring and for our 25th a solitaire.We had a church wedding in July 1973 with about 120 people. The reception was in a restaurant two towns over and we are still told by people who attended that it was one of them most fun wedding parties they have attended!
