October Thoughts
1. What are your feelings about the month of October? Does it bring anything special to mind for you? Do you have memories to share?
I was born on October 3rd in 1951 so yes it is special to me! I know that my Mom and Dad were married in October. My sister and brother in law were also married in October and their 50th anniversary is on the 23rd.
2.Have you ever gone apple picking? Pumpkin picking? Any kind of picking including banjo picking at all? Do you bake pies with those fruits?
No I haven't been apple picking but we do go to Oak Glen Orchards to buy apples in the Fall. We also pick up a pumpkin but have never done pumpkin picking. No banjo picking for me either. I have made pies with the apples I have bought.
4.Autumn is not the same as Fall. Fall is the time when the leaves are actively falling. What activities of Autumn/Fall do you enjoy? Do you decorate your door or home for the season?
I didn't know there was a difference between autumn and fall! I have some Fall decorations I can put out but I haven't done it yet. I'm thinking I may need to just start on my Christmas tree early so I can get it done in time.

What a wonderful picture of your mom and dad.
Here fall is definitely cooler than summer but we still have some great weather. I've always lived around here so I've never experienced fall anywhere else.
This is the first time I've ever heard that fall and autumn weren't the same thing
i have not feelings about october. I love the photo of your parents. they look so happy. I like old photos even of people I don't know.. I never went apple picking but i did pick a couple of apples of a tree in someones yard
Hi, Debby! I didn't know Autumn/Fall was different. I guess we learn something new every day. Happy Birthday month
I didn't know there was a difference between autumn and fall either! I was born in Chicago too and the difference even from here to there is different. I have to say I love GA, but the fall colors are prettier up north. So you had a hot summer - I think we had a cooler one. We go to the apple orchards ever September - we sometimes pick and sometimes buy already picked. It's fun. Have a good day and hope you had a wonderful birthday. Hope too that you had fun with the kids.
I do like fall and we do get some color here in Northern California. Its a pain to rake up all the leaves but pretty at the same time.
My folks were married in October and my youngest son was born Oct.18.
We pick the fruit from our trees in the backyard..apples, pears, plums and pomogranetes.
I have made pies and tarts from them.
I don't decorate much for Fall but I have a wreath on the door and my big ceramic pumpkin on our tea cart. Closer to Thanksgiving a few more things will make their appearance...like my pilgrims and some artificial sprigs of this and that.

Like Sandra, I love olden photos -- whether I know the subjects or not. Your mother made such a beautiful bride! They've begun the new siding project on our home, so that's my excuse for not decorating our entryway. With Tom under the weather, my heart's just not into it.
Your mom was a very beautiful woman.
We don't have fall. Our leave do not waft gently to the ground. I go to bed (usually sometime in November) with a pristine lawn then wake to 3 inches of leaves.
Fun answers. My anniversary is in October on my grandma's birthday! I didn't know there was a difference between fall and autumn either.
Hi,
I did not know autumn and fall were different. Ha! I learned something new today.
I don't believe that's true about fall being different than autumn. They are just two different names for the same season.
Although I loathe winter, I do love fall!
