According to the late Jordan Maxwell, Hollywood is named for the fact that the holly was used for magic wants by the Druids. This is where term "Hollywood Magic" comes from. People are under it's 'spell'. Another story says that H.J. Whitley the father of Hollywood saw a Chinese man hauling wood on the hills overlooking the future site and asked him what he was doing. "I holly wood" he said meaning hauling wood. It occurred to Whitley that holly wood was a great name for his new town.
1. During WW2 Marilyn Monroe was an aircraft factory inspector. She was no dumb blonde but had an above average IQ. Do you know some Hollywood or record industry trivia?
Not that I can think of but I do know that my dad managed movie theaters back when I was growing up. He let the Elvis Presley's fan club meet in the theater for meetings. Elvis invited him to his house in Memphis but he didn't go. However he did get a signed autographed photo from Elvis.
2. Would you share with us the funniest movie you have ever seen? How about the most dramatic?
Obviously I've seen a lot of funny movies. The first one that came to mind was "The Money Pit." Of course I like other movies like "Tammy."
For a dramatic movie I'm going to say "Gravity." However I know there is a long list of dramatic movies that I have liked.
3. Has a movie ever really moved you or changed the way you see things?
There have been plenty of movies that changed the way I see things. I am going to go with "The Help."
4. Do you have movie nights at your house with special snacks, treats etc.? If not movies, was there something else around which you created a special family night?
Yes Mark and I usually have a movie night on the weekend. Sometimes we have popcorn.

I think it was Hedy Lamarr who was very intelligent and helped build some sort of radar thing. Some of it is still in use in today's bluetooth stuff.
As for movie night: right now every night is movie night and I go to the cinema a lot right now. In fact, I just got myself a subscription which means I can go whenever I want without paying over the top. 2-3 times a month and I have earned it back already.
I am not a follower of the stars, so no trivia have I. Not sure if it can be rated the funniest movie but I can say when Bob and I watched RV, we laughed out loud until we cried, if he was a woman he would have peed his pants. LOL... about 5 years after seeing it and laughing so hard, we watched it again and it just wasn't all that funny. no idea why. we also did the same thing with The Gods Must be crazy, first watch we laughed our heads off, 2nd time did not laugh at all
Love movie nights. Ours are mostly when the Hallmark Christmas movies are on.
I know lots of trivia but right now I can't think of any.
Your dad should have gone to Elvis's house.
I liked the Money Pit too - I some times feel I live in it.
We have special tv nights too.

I haven't been to a movie theater in years. I stream videos, but mostly TV series, not movies.
No trivia or even movies that stand out for any of those categories. Back when my kids were little, we used to do weekend movie days. We went to the video store and everyone picked out a movie to watch and then we watched them all together.

That is neat, Debby, with the signed picture of Elvis for your dad. I wonder why your dad didn't go to see Elvis. Did you ever know why he chose not to? We used to have movie nights with the kids when they were growing up; so much fun to hang out together with or without popcorn!

Hi .. I think I might go to the new Top Gun at the theater. This will be my first time going back to the theater since the lock-down. If I am brave enough to go.. still not sure. ;-)
