We went over to Adam and Gabby's on Saturday morning to stay with their dog Gracie. Adam and Gabby were going up north to a few wineries and they took their other dog Roxy with them. She is older and calmer than Gracie is.
Gracie was supposed to go to the kennel but she had an infection and wasn't able to go. Our original plan was to go to their house on Monday after we picked up James. Roxy and Gracie are Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.

The plan was for us to pick up James at Gabby's sister's house where he was staying since Friday having fun playing with his cousins all weekend long. So Mark went and picked him up on Monday morning. I stayed home with Gracie who can sometimes get in trouble when she's alone.
When Mark and James got home we went over to the Irvine Park Railroad where we took James to ride the train. The park also has many other things to do. There is even a Zoo! He has ridden the train before and he loves it.

Then we went over to see the horses and ponies. They were not giving pony rides on Monday but James has done that before and enjoyed it.
Then we went to have an ice cream treat. James got an ice cream sandwich, Mark got an ice cream bar and I had a drumstick. Well he wanted to eat my cone part so I sucked the ice cream out and he ate the cone.
After James took a nap he took his tractor out for a ride with Papa.
He wanted to watch his favorite train video on Amazon so we watched it. After that there was a short preview for a series called Tractor Ted. As it turned out it was really cute.
The first one was about the farmer who was growing carrots. They showed how they harvest them which was extremely interesting. Just so happens Gabby had the same bag of carrots in the refrigerator.
This wasn't a normal bag that you see in the store and this show was from Europe. (Turns out they got the carrots in one of their food delivers of meals that you cook) Anyway, we cleaned the carrot and he ate the whole thing! (more to come on that)
Off to daycare on Tuesday morning. Adam and Gabby got home around noon and we talked for awhile and then headed home before traffic got bad.
One more thing. So Gracie can get into trouble. She actually was very good when we were there and only dug once in the backyard.
However, for some reason she must have been angry that evening when Adam and Gabby took James out on his scooter. They were not gone very long and this is what they came home to. Syrofoam beads everywhere. She tore into a little straw hassock that they had......

Sounds like a fun day with James.
It's a good thing we love the fur babies. They sure can get themselves into trouble. That picture of Gracie with the Styrofoam beads all over her will be one of those things that you can laugh at once your done being annoyed
Looks like a wonderful time. Grandmas are sweet to give away the cone to their ice cream—- only for the grandchild, right? 😜 loved that last photo; I’ll bet that was a mess to clean!
OH wow on the destroyer.. she was upset because she was left home with out her sibling and parents and boy and then they came home and left again.. or so she thought.. I see why they would kennel her.

Oh my goodness with Gracie and how destroying she can be! I hope she eventually outgrows this type of behavior! Such a fun time you and Mark had with James! I love how he enjoyed the video about carrot growing and then ate the carrots! A very healthy approach to learning I do believe! It is nice that Adam and Gabby get away like they do for their time together so you guys can have your time with James!

Oooooooooooh lordy! Gracie!! It sounds like the dear little girl has some separation anxiety when her human family goes away. Does Gabby have a crate for her, Debby? It would probably be best for Gracie to go into a comfy crate while alone, so the things in the household *and* Gracie stay safe!
That picture of you, James and Mark is absolutely priceless! SweetBabyJames is such a cutie patootie! I love that double-fisted ice cream picture too. *haha* And that "fresh from the bathtub" picture is way too precious also. It's so fun watching him grow, my friend. Gracie acting out reminds me of an author who said this about her little dog acting out: "She doesn't have accidents ... they're deliberates."

Looks like you had a wonderful time with James! He sure looks happy!! What a joy to have a sweet little boy to love!! And then Gracie...well, what can I say? I'm glad she waited to act out when she was back at her home instead of with you! LOL. What a mess to clean up! "Girls just wanna have fun". LOL.
James is adorable and I know you loved spending time with him.
