I mentioned that we would be going to Adam and Gabby's on Friday night to finally celebrate her February 14th birthday. We were picking up James at daycare and heading to downtown Orange which is a lovely area with a lot of restaurant. Adam and Gabby were going to walk to town and then drive back to their house with us.
Well as far as them driving back with us, that didn't happen. They had the fast track closed because of an accident. Traffic was backed up forever. I texted Adam, they were already walking to town, and told them we would be late for Jenny's to pick up James. He texted her to tell her that. Well as it turns out we only went about a mile in 20 minutes so they had to head back home to get the car, pick up James and head on over for our 6 pm reservation at Francoli Gourmet.
There was a street coming up that I thought Mark should get off on but he was hopeful it would be opening up soon. My aunt and uncle lived off of that street and it would have gotten over to their area in no time. Well I had to pee like crazy. I have been taking in tons of water to get my lungs moist because they are so dry and sadly I really had to go!
So we got off at an exit we didn't know but there was a gas station as soon as we got off. Of course it didn't have restrooms for customers but they let me go into theirs in the back room. As it turned out there was a route we could take and we ended up getting there around 15 minutes later which was about 6:15. That was a huge relief. We had an amazing dinner and a nice birthday celebration for Gabby.
So James likes to get buttered pasta with some grated parmesan on it. I told him I wanted to get some pictures of him to send to Aunt Amber and Uncle Dylan.
Then after dinner we headed back to their house where of course the dogs greeted us. It is amazing the smile that Roxy has when she sees us. Now the big deal, which James was so excited about, was him showing us his new bedroom.
He is now a big boy with a full size bed, new rug, new dresser and end table. All of his trucks and other toys are now in the closet and he still needs a big picture over his bed. It will most likely be a train. He also has train sheets and another set with trucks and cars on them.
Now James is always Papa this and Papa that. He said take off your shoes, which James helped him with and then told him to take off his socks. He wanted Mark to get on the bed with him and those are the house rules, no shoes or socks on the bed.
(When we headed home around 9:30 the freeway going West was still bumper to bumper. It was actually a good thing that I had to go potty. LOL!)

Oh no on the traffic back up. Glad all worked out and you had a good evening. James has a really nice new room.
James is absolutely adorable with his spaghetti! Of course he’s adorable with anything or with nothing. I like his new room and I know he’s so proud of it. So glad you didn’t have to wait yourself ha ha. Been there done that trying to find one when you really need one somehow men never have to do that and I have no clue why. I’m glad you had your birthday celebration and that everybody got there on time and you didn’t lose your reservation sounds like a fun trip
There is nothing like Family Time!!!
So glad it all worked out. I do know how desperate things can be when you gotta pee...Thank goodness the station was kind to you.
Oh that James is so precious. Love his Big Boy room and the "rules" too.
Love that big clock for him too.

Glad everything worked out so that you didn't miss anything. James is just adorable. How proud he must be to have a big boy bedroom. Spending time with the grands is wonderful, isn't it? Have a great week!
Oh wow, I'm surprised you still had an appetite after all the delays and anxiety.
So glad everything came together as you hoped. Can't believe James is already in a Big Boy's room. Rites of passage!
Wow! What a trip! So glad you made it to the "pit stop" in time. That would be an issue for me for certain. And glad you made it to dinner in good time, and were able to enjoy that special occasion with the family. Love James and the pasta! And I really love his big boy bedroom! Wow! That's very nice and neat. So nice that his grandpa could take off his shoes and socks and get on the bed with him. That's pretty special! LOL. Sweet times. Glad the delays didn't keep you away.
I'm so glad it all worked out. ❤️
Sounds like in spite of the traffic you had a great time. I have seen the traffic out there.
I LOVE James new bedroom set.
He is a lucky guy!
That traffic sounds horrible. Love the pictures of James and also his bedroom is so nice. Man, they grow up so fast! Hope you have a good day.
Ha Ha, yes it was a good thing you needed to go potty.
