So the first thing medically I will mention is that I have seen my cardiologist since my hospital visit and all is well. Of course my cholesterol levels are still high. If you didn't know this, I have not been able take statins. I am currently working really hard to eat healthy as much as I possibly can. I will see her again in June and get blood work done before that visit.
I think I mentioned the shot in my ankle and the doctor that said "If you were my mother I tell you to never get an ankle fusion." Well I'm not ready to get that done but that shot in the bone of my right ankle helped for maybe 2 days. I see him for another shot on June 2nd. I did find a nice small brace that just goes around the ankle and it does help to some degree.
So next up is my second cataract surgery. Not sure if I told you this. I was set up for a mono-vision lens. Right before surgery he came to me and said "I think you should go with distance since you don't mind using reading glasses. I said no to him several times.
The next day I went to a follow-up appointment and he told me he used the distance lens. I was so angry with him. I know that most people who get the mono lens still need to wear glasses but their vision is great. Well, I walked out on him because I was so angry that he didn't listen to me.
I can tell you that I maybe wear glasses for 5 different things. Often on my phone, two computers, to read my People magazine and usually for some mail that I get.
Well now there are more things added to that list. Most have to do with photos I have around the house and mainly in the kitchen. Sure, I can see the photos but they are not crystal clear anymore. They are a bit blurry.
I need to put on reading glasses now to see them like I did before this cataract was done. That includes my calendar on the wall also along with some post it notes and our Google Nest Hub with photos on it.
So I saw the doctor on Monday. He is a very nice man and has compassion for me. So the best solution at this point is to try a monovision contact lens and that will tell us immediately if the mono visions lens would have been the better choice. So we shall see.
However, if it does work he will replace the lens he put in and put in the mono-vision lens at their expense. It would not go through insurance.
I have to say my anxiety levels have been very high. Thank you for listening.

The nerve of that man! Good for you, not putting up with his disrespect. When I had my cataract surgeries the doctor didn't even consult me about what kind of lens -- and used the distance, which I hate. Now I have to keep 5 readers in different rooms; it just would have been nice to be asked. FYI, I wore mono lens contacts for years and loved them.
I can't believe he went against your wishes on that. I'm glad he's giving you the option to have it corrected at HIS expense! That's all so crazy! My hubby recently had one cataract surgery, and I don't think it helped his vision either. He still has to wear the reader glasses just like before. His other eye isn't quite ready for the cataract surgery, so he's waiting on that one. Anyway, praying for you and your different health issues. I hope things will start getting better for you soon.
I don’t mind wearing eyeglasses - 🤓
I don’t blame you - that would make me furious that a doctor would take it upon himself to go against what I wanted. What a control freak.
I had the cateract procedure and I still wear eyeglasses but see much better. My closeup vision is excellent which is what I wanted.
The only thing I have issue with are the floaters I now have which I didn’t before. Slowly I’m learning to live with it but it was difficult at first. And I have extremely dry eyes and have to get eye plugs that keep my eyes moist every 6 months. It’s always something as we age!
Thanks so much for your update on your health, Debby. That's a bummer about the cataract issue, for sure. The doctor should have honored your wishes. Hope all turns out okay for you. Have a blessed Easter!
Wow, I can't believe he went against your wishes and did what he wanted to do instead of what you wanted. Glad to hear you're getting that all taken care of though.
I was supposed to bring my cholesterol down or go on statins. I tried changing my diet but I just can't stick with eating that way. I never did go back to have my blood work redone. My health insurance was about to run out and I didn't need the extra expense. Maybe once I get back to work I'll go then.
This makes my blood boil that the doctor would go against your wishes and only tell you after the deed was done. Really wrong but I'm glad he will correct things at his expense.
I certainly pray that the other health issues will clear up or at least lessen so you can go to your wedding and visit.
I'm praying for your anxiety and all of the unknowns.
Love you Friend
Sue
Cholesterol - mine won't go down and I have tried everything. My doctor is putting me on LEQVIO which has to be injected by a professional. I went today for the blood test and Friday I will get my injection. Kind of scared but scared not to do it. My insurance will pay for it.
I am shocked your doctor did not listen to you. What is mono vision? One short distance and one long distance? I am so sorry but glad he will stand behind it.
Sorry about your ankle.
I hope you have a blessed Good Friday.
Hi Debby, I am sorry you have had so many problems with your eyes. I have to have the surgery too and I want to correct for distance so I can drive at night. I don't mind wearing glasses. I am supposed to take statins too, but I don't. I hope you feel better soon. Praying for you.
Debby I am always praying for you and yours. I think of sweet James too. Such a precious boy. Life is hard. This surgery wiped me out and I am finally getting around. Life is hard so I keep praying harder.
Debby, if you have your passport in hand it will be sufficient. Do the initial application on line and down load the things that are your legal documents..they publish the list on the app. Submit them on line and then when you have your appointment in person bring those physical documents with you and you should be good to go.
My whole problem stems from my passport just expiring and so it wasn't valid any longer. There had to be proof of my name change even though it was 61 years ago. Crazy but we sure hope the doc. will arrive on time but if it doesn't I will still proceed to get the thing done. Sigh..makes my head spin.
Sue
Happy Easter to you and your family.
